  1. I agree with you. If you don't like what SWTOR is turning into then unsub and leave feedback. While no one really cares if I play or not, I did take your advice. Best to get it over with now instead of keeping a sub and slowly hating the game I'm playing, knowing full well my play style is no longer welcomed. Life is too short to play a game that instead of moving forward, has decided to move backwards. I hope everyone else enjoys the new expansion though and this game stays around for another 10. For a while It was the best! No harm. No foul. It's just how things are. Feedback: The beauty of this game was the ability to acquire the best gear in the game as a solo/casual player. It took longer and I had to sometimes be smarter about how I went about things, but I could play the way I wanted and still advance my chars. Now, with 7.0, you've put the best gear behind an OPs wall forcing me to play the game along a preset path. No longer can I play the way I want. Now I have to manage the "people train" forcing me to play with the time, mode selection and speed of others. I am no longer the master of my fate and I'm totally dependent on other people. I detest this style of game play with a passion. It doesn't matter if the gear I do get is sufficient for the content I enjoy. It's not about absolute power or what I need to "get by". It's about advancement and the freedom to play as I want while still allowing my chars to progress to the top. This expansion takes this away from me. Players like me are obviously no longer wanted here. Your decisions have made that abundantly clear and I never stay where I'm not wanted. Good luck on your expansion and thank you for many years of game play. I will remember this game fondly because for a time, this was the best game on the market.
  2. No. It's not the same thing. Not even close. Most were happy with 6.0 because it allowed people do play as they wanted too. This expansion kills that. You will now play the way they want you too and this is a major thing. In 6.0 they complained about some skills or perhaps class focus. 7.0 is all about restricting the very game itself. Restricting what you can do and how you can advance. It's all about how you will be forced to play in a certain way, like it or not. No options. No workarounds. Think SWG NGE here. There is a huge ... HUGE difference between the whines about 6.0 and 7.0 Watch and see what I mean when it goes live.
  3. The expansion is releasing this year. This is November. No matter what we say or how we feel it's too late to keep them from putting the best gear behind hard-mode ops. To rescue the modding of gear. To go back to the glory days where players played like they wanted too. It's all set in stone with only minor tweaks available in the time allowed. Like it or not this is their vision. It's a done deal. At this point you can either stay and play the way they want you too or leave and go somewhere else. How hard that decision is depends on how involved you are in the game.
  4. The only thing missing is the obligatory "If you don't run hardest content you don't need the top gear". Classic elitist WoW thinking. This game was unique. Anyone could play how they wanted and advance their char's to the top. It may take longer to play it solo for instance, but it could be done. Now? Climbing to the top is gated behind hard mode ops. Just like Wow. What's worse, is you waited this long to tell us which means you're too far along to make any changes and still expect it to launch this year. I could create conspiracy theory's about how you want the game to die for instance but that type of thinking is useless and serves no purpose. What I do know is you're changing the game in a way that I can no longer play. I refuse to run in an elite OPs group to advance my chars and knowing that I can never advance past a certain point with my current play-style ruins my experience and sets limits ... limits you've created for no reason you're willing to discuss with us. While I've read all the previous posts and it seems these gearing changes aren't welcome, this hardly represents the majority of the population. Perhaps people will love the restrictions ... and make no mistake this expansion creates restrictions that previously didn't exist ... and for those players I hope you will enjoy the expansion. For me, I'm disappointed and at a loss for what to do next and seriously thinking about why I would let changes to a game upset me so. I'm thinking that perhaps I need to move on and get a life. After all, I've spent a wonderful 10 years playing a great game. Nothing lasts forever.
  5. I haven't played in over a year and had some life changes since then. At this time I can only key bind 12 different abilities. The rest I have to click. Do I have enough key binds to play a Marauder in mostly solo PvE? Can I play any spec or is there a spec that has a min number of key binds? I hate clicking but I can live with it for some things just not my attack rotation. ThX in advance!

  8. Just a note on the "Vette Bug". I'm having the same issue but it's with a level 70 Jedi Guardian with Scourge out. Intermittent freezing which can be resolved by moving in any direction which unfreezes any actions allowing me to continue running or attacking. Same bug or new issue?
  9. Interesting. Mine does something similar if not the same. I have an AMD 2700X and noticed that the system will "lock up" for a few seconds and is esp noticeable when I'm running or fighting. I can unfreeze it by moving, even if it's only a step or two. When fighting, I can't hit any key mapped to an attack but the game still runs and the NPC can still attack and move. If I just hit a movement key it seems to unfreeze and I can attack again. There doesn't seem to be a pattern I can pin down which would allow me to duplicate the issue. I don't believe this is a hardware issue on my end and "feels" as though it's on the server end. While I can't fix your issue ... or mine ... at least you know you're not the only one. Edit: After checking the bug reports there seems to to be a bug for Sith Warriors when Vette is out. I have a level 70 Guardian with Scourge out that seems to do the same thing. Intermittent freezing.

  11. Church of Night worships a deity. Sith don't worship their emperor ... they might respect him but only until they are strong enough to take his place. Church of Night has no enemies per say though they are not shy about hate. They tend to avoid humans except to occasionally use them as tools. The Sith do have enemies, Jedi and the Republic, and will use non-force users as needed to help defeat those enemies. Church of Night members have their powers granted to them by Satan. Sith are born with force powers and can learn to strengthen them. Having said that, it looks like being a witch on that show may grant you certain powers at birth but until you fully commit to Satan, those powers seem to be weak and muted. Sith may start off weak but they can grow and most importantly, can do this on their own Church of Night members hide who they are even though they seem powerful enough to take over anytime they choose. They are afraid of being exposed. Sith hide from no one and lord over others as their whim demands. You don't expose a Sith, a Sith exposes you. As for a template you could probably follow the plot line of the show. A Sith who has a republic parent and in order to advance as a Sith ... politics wise ... you have to fully commit to their teachings even though you disagree with them. I liked the Sabrina series ... a lot ... but there isn't much the Church of Night has in common with the Sith other than enforced dogma and "magical powers". As for being "evil" that is purely subjective and depends on your point of view.
  12. No. Everquest still exists and it was launched in 2000 and has a tiny player base. I think at some point, BW will try to push a major expansion designed to boost the sub numbers. It will generate a lot of buzz and draw some headlines. Whether it works or not SWTOR will roll along and change as the times change. It will never turn into SWG. That game pulled the NGE for a reason and the truth is many people say they want a sandbox style game but for some reason never show up in numbers to play it. That's why sandbox games fail. That's why SWG failed. The thing about MMORPG's is they have the capability to change as needed to keep people playing. Some will like a new direction while other will hate it but in the end the doors stay open and time marches on. SWTOR will keep on going. It may change owners, it may blossom into the most popular MMO ever or it may limp along with a skeleton crew on life support but most likely it will keep going for a long while.
  13. If PvP'ers have their gear automagically bumped up to the highest level then this problem is solved. At that point it becomes class vs class and player vs player within those classes. I also keep reading from people who are obviously on the "I'm elite so die casuals" bandwagon when they say casuals don't need the highest level gear because they don't play content that requires it. While this seems to make sense at first, if even thought about for a sec or two, it becomes apparently clear this is logic at it's worst. The purpose of games like this is advance your char and that is done with gear. Even if you don'tr enter a single NIM that doesn't mean a person doesn't want to advance their char. When your char can't advance through their method of play, the game is over and another sub lost. SWTOR can't afford to lose many more. With this in mind it's important that if casuals are going to get the same gear as people who push the edges of the game, that they have to put in the time for it. I think most casuals wouldn't mind if it takes longer to get the gear but being shutout completely is a bad way to push the game forward.
  14. I'm replaying the Si right now and my fav companion hasn't changed from day 1. Khem is the best and most loyal companion there is. In fact I think he is the best companion in the game as you can tell ... I'm spending more time on him than any other.   15. Well ... to keep the necro post going I would have to go with Darth Nox. I'm using Nox as the Inquisitors example because he would have kept all the ghosts in servitude. The others might have let them go and wouldn't be obsessively driven to acquire even more power like a pure Darkside Sith would. While the Emperor's Wrath is a strong melee char who is also powerful in the force which fuels his abilities, the power of Darth Nox is unlimited. Yes, the ghosts count and taking them out of the equation is like taking the lightsaber from the Wrath. Keep in mind that the Wrath is not Scourge. Scourge has been around for century's and was made immortal by the Emperor. The Wrath was not. When council said they were afraid of the Wrath, it was Scourge ... not the latest version. Also, the Wrath is not above the council as many have suggested but stands alone and answers only to the Emperor. This is not the same as being more powerful than the council. It's just a political appointment in a different branch of government if you will. Remember that Nox had his body and mind rebuilt to handle the power he can now control. We don't know the limit of the Sith ghosts that Nox could control but it's at least 5 if you took the one on Voss. Looking at Star Wars history it becomes evident that the pure force users controlled the best of melee types. Sidious used Vader and Dooku as tools. The most powerful Jedi in canon was Yoda who was a great warrior but his true power was in the mastery of the force as he shown in the fight with Count Dooku when they couldn't decide the battle with lightsabers alone. In the SW universe, Force ability is the key to power. Not lightsaber forms. By having his mind and body rebuilt to allow Nox the ability to have almost unlimited power ... a possible mistake by BW ... Nox becomes the most powerful force user and would easily defeat the Wrath. Nox's only true challenge would be the most most powerful force user ever ... the Emperor.
  16. I played SWG from the start and have done to the same for SWTOR. SWG wasn't very successful and was losing money. While I liked the game there is no getting around the facts and those facts negate even the most "rosy" of rose colored glasses. When it comes to SWG there is a reason they pulled the NGE and it was because they were losing money and needed to change the game. While the fans who played it may have loved it, there simply wasn't enough of them to keep the lights on and so the NGE went live hoping to rescue a sinking game. They failed. Thinking the game was the greatest thing ever and the NGE was a decisions made by the dev's on a fluke is wrong on many levels. It was done to to and save a dying game. Period. I personally believe the biggest issue was with the time period the game was set in. In that time, there were no Jedi's and the game didn't allow any. Well, at least until they tried to put some in to boost lagging sub numbers. Every SW fan wants to sling a lightsaber but to become a Jedi was a tedious feat involving mastering certain professions and it was different from player to player. Lets not even get into the "no Jedi's" cannon that reared its ugly head. That's another beast all on it's own. The Jedi thing was a total mess and failed to get the sub numbers it needed to stay alive. There were also some little things like no jumping that made the game feel under-developed. It had it's fun moments but all in all couldn't sustain a viable player base. The NGE was all about turning a sandbox game into a game on rails. The NGE alienated the loyal players and failed to attract newer players and was the final nail in the coffin. I liked the old SWG. I hated the NGE. If the old SWG was viable they wouldn't have pulled the NGE. It's really that simple. SWG failed because only a few wanted to play it. It couldn't compete with the current games at that time in sub numbers and that alone should say enough about the game. SWTOR, to me is a much better game all around and has been far more successful than SWG. There is a reason for that.
  17. Agreed. Also, there may be new rules in place for events like this that BW wasn't prepared for in the time frame allowed. I'm not sure when hate and fear became mainstream but this needs to stop before our lives become unrecognizable.
  18. I can imagine the Dev's with mouths hanging open at the shear stupidity of some of their players. The system has not been implemented. It has not been discussed. It has not been revealed yet so many people are already either condemning this as P2W or defending it with neither side having any idea of what's really going on. Will it be crafting as we know it now? Will it be a new system that resembles crafting in name only? Will it be something completely different and until now unknown? No one knows, yet we are already playing the Love it / Hate it game and having some very serious discussions on it even though it doesn't exist. Yes, taking sides for something that doesn't exist and has no sides does seem a little stupid. Oh you silly humans, For beings with no clue I will say you do put on a great show!
  19. I've played WoW for quite a while and while it isn't my game of choice it isn't bad for what it is ... a gear grind. You do the latest expansion, do all the raids to get gear to do more raids then when the next expansion comes out all the gear you won is now useless .... time to start the grind all over again. And again. And again ... The best way to play WoW is get the new expansion, level to cap then quit. When they announce their next expansion, they always include catch up mechanics to help you gear up faster and by then everything is fixed and nothing is time locked. That's when you re-sub and play the whole thing through, raids and all. Rinse and repeat with the next expansion. In SWTOR gear isn't the carrot. Instead the story is. You level up to see the next story and they are really great ones. To me, the Sith Warrior has the best story line but everyone has different tastes. Yes, gear matters but no to the extent where it's the sole purpose of playing. The stories are. Keep in mind that SWTOR doesn't put out content like WoW does. WoW does an expansion with a ton of content then adds some more over the course of the expansion. About a year or so after the expansion the content sort of dries up until the next expansion. It's a formula that has worked well for them. SWTOR however adds content slowly and that content is built on the previous story lines. This time they are planing an expansion but we have little idea on what it will be. The SWTOR end game does have raids to do along with PvP. Not as many as WoW of course but like WoW, you have to do the same ones over and over again until you get what you want from them. I think SWTOR is a much better game than WoW. Better combat animations. Better story. Better graphics. Better IP ... I mean come on. It's Star Wars! You get out of SWTOR what you put into it just like any game. The best thing to do is play it and see for yourself. I would go sub so there are no restrictions and because you get free CC's every month which can be saved up to get the gear on the Market you didn't find during the reg game. The VO cut scenes are great and should keep you interested enough to watch them ... the first time. Remember there are many classes, each with a different story so you could, and most likely will, spend a lot of time doing and seeing all of it. Tons of content here to play with if you're new. For the price of a sub, you have nothing to lose.
  20. Back at the start, we some people who were humble bragging about their rigs. "I only have a Cray super computer with advanced Ai. Can my rig play this game"? So I countered by showing them the real thing!

I play both games ... currently in the BFA beta ... and doing a WoW type expansion for SWTOR is easy. 1) Make the game gear dependent to an extreme. 2) Create a story so players think they are part of the action 3) Create daily's that you HAVE to run to get rep for better gear and reputation. 4) Create new mounts and gate them behind the daily's 5) Release more daily's. 6) Create a daily area with harder MOB's that require better gear so you can get better gear. 7) Make a few raids at different levels for better gear. 8) Go to the next chapter in the story, make all the hard won gear obsolete, rinse and repeat. Most of the WoW content is locked behind daily quests which make up the vast majority of their game. From Suramar rep to Argus it's all about making people spend time grinding the same old areas while convincing them it's new content. The Next expansion is more of the same. Let me put it this way ... if you played KOTFE with more emphasis on daily's and have the story play out through raids at the end of each chapter locked behind gear requirements ... which require more daily grinding to gear up for you would have WOW with lightsabers but with a much better story. Yes, Blizz knows exactly what they are doing and it works for them. Personally I love SWTOR because it's not a Wow clone and the story is far better than the WoW story line. Any game can be broken down to show it's faults. No game is perfect and there is nothing on this rock you can't find something wrong with and exploit it in an argument. Disguising daily quests as "massive" content is much easier than creating a compelling story and for me, I'll take a great story any day over mindless grinding for more gear so I can get even better gear only to lose it in the next expansion.
  22. I just got off Hoth. I'm leveling a Deception Assassin and I'm having a blast doing it. I was always Hatred because I thought Deception forced me to only attack from the rear but I found out that this isn't true while leveling. This char is powerful and Phantom Stride is a fantastic mobility tool if used right. I know ... I'm supposed to whine and moan and hate on the road map and the game in general ... but I'm having too good a time to worry about that right now. Considering I've played since launch I never thought leveling again would be fun. I was wrong but never fear ... when I've played this char out I promise to get on the hate bandwagon.
  23. This is almost like watching "Dumb And Dumber" with a cast of thousands. Some people only believe what their worldview allows them to believe no matter what the truth really is while others think it's cool to hate. It doesn't matter what they hate, just so they actually hate something. I've been in the MMO game for a long LONG time and threads like this that spell doom and gloom ... usually backed up with info no one in the thread can possibly know ... have been around forever. Yet, and this is where it's gets good, these very same people keep playing while trying to convince the player-base they are mistaken and not really having fun. This happens in every game. Every. Single. One. To the sane player-base: If you're having fun then just play. If you're worried about losing a measly $15 on a sub then you most likely have other problems which needs to be addressed in your life ... but that's your call and no ones business but your own. If you're not having fun, why are you here? Go out and find you some fun! There are a ton of games out there and I'm sure you can find one that meets your needs. Regardless of what you want to do, nothing is set in stone. You can leave, come back, leave again ... and as long as you are having fun you're good to go! Remember, the only loyalty you should have is to yourself ... not a game.
  24. Played SWG ... it's wasn't bad ... played the NGE and it was terribad. Played SWTOR and liked it ... played the new expansions and loved it. KOTET is nothing like the NGE and by even saying that, I have to wonder if you actually played the NGE. I'm thinking no ...
