  1. I am sure a lot of people, if not everyone, here has seen KBN's optimized tank stats. I just wonder how up to date are these calculations? Have they been updated recently or is there another resource people are looking at for optimization? I assume that there hasn't been some huge change but as I start to progress in to NiM Ops I want to make sure my gear is the best I can obtain. EDIT: This link leads to KBN's post http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=616779
  2. We had to start doing the same thing as well. Our other tank, also guardian, had to pretty much exclusively tank the last phase while i just stand there :/. Might have to start doing extra swaps as you mention to see if I spam my CDs even more might make it possible to live. Is there any indicator that Raptus is about to use Thrusting Blast or whatever its called? Thanks for the answer by the way.
  3. I am really struggling with understanding why Raptus absolutely destroys me in HM. I have downed Raptus many times but it seems like there are pulls where he just hits really hard on my shadow tank. To give some context with no buffs (no class buffs or stims) my shadow's gear level is: Health:39577 Damage Reduction: 40.45% Defense: 479 Shield Rating: 956 Absorb Rating: 1252 Two DF relics: Shield Amplification, Fortunate Redoubt Basically my tank is in full DF gear with optimized, imo, mods and enhancements. There are still some moments in DP HM on Raptus where he two shots me. It seems to be a thrusting blow followed by another high damage attack. Have any other shadow tanks had this problem? Any ideas on what to do to improve my survivability?
  4. I don't pvp much but it seems like it could definitely be used to get back to somewhere more quickly especially since it lasts 5mins now. Onto PVE, it is EXTREMELY useful for dps or tanking. The tank tree allows you to spec into it to receive bonus healing. The tree ability is called Shadow Shelter: "Increases all healing received by 2%. In addition, deploying phase walk also deploys shadow shelter, increasing the healing done by those within 5 meters of the phase walk by 5%" Now this may not seem like a lot but in HM and NiM those percentage really help out a lot in fights and I use it every single boss fight in these "progression" modes. Furthermore, phasewalk can greatly assist in repositioning yourself during a fight. You can plant it somewhere then go dps or tank something and quickly get back to that spot if needed by reactivating the ability. I would still say for tanking putting it in a solid spot for healers is more important than the previously mentioned use. If you would like a real Ops example of where I use phasewalk as a movement ability: During Calphayus the tank must bring a crystal back through a portal. The crystal and portal are on opposite sides of the room, so I drop phasewalk at the portal sprint to grab the crystal. After I have the crystal I reactive phasewalk to immediately be back at the portal instead of having to run back. Also the recent buff to phasewalk made it so much better. The shorter cast and how much longer it lasts make it a must use for almost every boss fight. Please don't use phasewalk in DP on Bestia because she drops yellow puddles that kill you if you stay in it, same color as phasewalk.
  5. You are definitely ready to start tanking SM operations. If you have yet to get Obroan relics from pvp definitely do that. They are a huge boost, that is kinda hard to see at times, and worth the time commitment. Definitely try to run with people who you know when doing operations. These friends are more likely to help you learn the strategies which is very important for tanking. Secondly, I definitely recommend getting your off-hand first with your Ultimate Comms. Its usually a huge upgrade and if you get a set bonus piece (from arkanian or underworld) you wont have just wasted a 180 armoring. EDIT: On the discussion about augments, find a set of gear you like, the way it looks, and will never change out. At that point start loading in augments and you will gain a lot of stats that are needed. Mitigation is more important than health for a shadow tank, therefore augments are a great boost. You can buy augments for not too expensive either. On my server, JC, the normal MK-9 augmentation kit goes for 50k with the actually augment going for like 30k I think, it has been a long time since I bought one. To augment your gear completely the first time will take over 1 million, so start knocking out those dailies on Oricon, CZ, Section X, etc... Also, Aelanis has been giving sound advice in all his or her posts I have seen. I agree with everything previously stated by Aelanis.
  6. The easiest thing to do is obtain the Obroan Relics from pvp. Brutalizer is better yes but unless you do a lot of pvp its not really worth the time commitment, imo. Obroan relics take 700 pvp comms each to obtain which is not bad at all. After this work towards getting Dread Forged relics. A previous poster mentioned the correct type of Obroan relics to get.
  7. Pretty much exactly this. As a fellow tank doing NiM raids I find that doing this pretty much guarantees you generated the most threat possible and if people are still pulling off you, they should add drop aggro to their rotation if it is not there. Your rotation, besides what is said above, seems great.
  8. So my first question is how do i begin the belsavis bonus series? I have done the main quest line and cant fine the bonus series. I am Republic side btw. Also how do i finish the Vine Silk set that is rewarded from Belsavis Quests. I have the headgear, gloves and boots.
