Another Powertech jet pack ability is Flame Sweep where you hover and do a double flamethrower spin attack causing aoe damage.

I prefer the S-203 Watchman Blaster Pistol myself.

There are 2 sets on Taris depending on which you choose from the quest rewards which are the Mercenary Elite set that is blue and yellow/gold and the powertech named set is yellow/orange and red (think it was red). The TT-15A armor is the only black/red armor I have ever seen. Two pieces can be gotten on Taris, pants from the comms vendor and the gloves from the specialty goods vendor, while the rest is dropped and/or crafted (I just bought them off the GTN so not sure which). The boots to the TT-15A Powerteh armor however only come in blue or purple item quality. There is no orange version (that I have ever seen/heard of anyway) and hence the best he can do for the specific boots is buy (or get a lucky drop if they are a dropped item and if they are I have no idea where they drop) the prototype version off the GTN which are purple quality and have the mod and enhancement slots but no armor slot. Otherwise if he wants fully moddable black/red boots he will probably have to get some Sith Juggernaut boots that come in black/red which I have seen a few of on the GTN but they don't really look right with the rest of the armor IMO.

Not sure where they drop from but I believe I bought mine off the GTN.

I have the set of armor your talking about and the boots do not come as a orange type item. best you can do is the prototype version where you have a mod and enhancement slots but no armor slot and buy them off the GTN like it did.

No was replying to your earlier question about my post where I was talking about my TT-15A powertech set. The Mercenary Elite boots come from the Taris quest line like the rest of that set.

I wear the TT-15A Powertech set (though the boots can not be found in orange only blue or prototype) The gloves and pants are bought on Taris. Gloves from the specialty goods vendor and pants from the comms vendor. The rest of it I bought from the GTN. Here is a pic.

Both are very good for pve leveling. It is purely what kind of game play you want. Do you want to be a long range healer or a dps turret (meaning standing in one spot with all your main attacks being channeled/casting) then go merc. If you want mobile (all main attacks are instant) melee/mid range tank or dps then go powertech. My personal preference is powertech with pyro tech specced. I leveled from 1-50 purely PvE and it was awesome. Used Mako the whole way to heal (updating her gear every so often to help keep her heals decent) while I burned through everything. Also shield tech is good for leveling (less dmg but more survivability) from what I hear so that is a good option too. I personally don't like AP and most will tell you it is inferior dmg with slight more mobility but it seemed to be similar damage overall (at least in PvE) but I just didn't like how it played/felt.

I wear a set that looks exactly like the Taris set except it is black and red and all but the boots are fully modifiable (the boots are prototype so no armor slot just mod/enhancement) and all but the gloves and pants I bought of the GTN. I played pyro from the start all the way to 50 (though I did try ST and AP once or twice while leveling but just didn't like how they played so I switched back to pyro pretty quick) and never had any problems. I just kept Mako in decent gear and never had any issues and very little down time. No I couldn't do heroic +2's though I never actually tried since it wasn't that hard to find just one other person.

So far the best set of armor I have found (other then the Taris sets) is my TT-15A Powertech set which is just like the Taris sets but is black and red coloring only thing that sucks is there is no orange boots only blue and purple prototype versions but the rest is orange and I still wear the boots since they do have mod and enhancement slots just no armor slot. The gloves and pants can be bought with taris comms and the rest I got off the GTM. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3
