  1. I haven't personally had this happen to me, but saw a guildmate go down this way. We were thawing the frozen datacron on Hoth and a very large group of Sith, all in the same guild, jumped down from above and then sat on the cron with large speeders talking trash the entire time. As the story normally goes, one of my guild was accidentally flagged into PvP and roughly 20 players commenced destroying him. I don't even see how that should even be possible on a PvE server. We go to PvE because we don't want to be randomly jumped by massive groups of opposing factions. The entire PvP flag system is completely absurd in this game. I can be accidentally flagged by buffing a player who runs by? In the time it takes me to add a buff I could have easily overlooked his flagged state. Once flagged I'm stuck in that state until the game decides I don't want to PvP anymore? I didn't want to be flagged in the first place! There should be a toggle for PvP aspects of the game in the settings that lock you in PvE while in open world areas. I don't care if the toggle restricts my ability to group with those flagged or my ability to assist them in combat. The basic idea is simple, when playing on a PvE server you shouldn't be able to move to Open World PvP without your consent. No means No bioware!
  2. Well my issue isn't that some items cost a lot. Its the chance that BW will determine the initial cost was too high and drop it after I've unlocked it. By doing this they are essentially punishing early adopters and rewarding those who wait it out with a slight advantage. I realize its not hard to earn credits in this game, but it doesn't change the fact that lower cost as an afterthought does give some a slight advantage. For arguments sake lets say I put in 10hrs and earn 500K then purchase an unlock for 300K. Another player just starts playing and puts in the same 10hrs and earns the same 500K then purchases the same unlock for 150K. BW has essentially taken away 150K from me for no reason. If this happens a year down the road its no big deal, but this soon in the game it seems a bit unbalanced. And for those who say its soooo easy to earn credits I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but keep in mind that not everyone plays the same. I play a lot of alts, so my credit count is never that high. I'm constantly spending on new mods, abilities, and gear. I just don't have the time to grind creds and enjoy every class in the game.
  3. Anyone else find theirself afraid to unlock big credit items because of legacy/game changes? I've already lost 700K credits on speeder trainer because of the changes in 1.2, or at least that's how I see it. And now find myself not wanting to unlock inventory slots and cargo bays out of fear that I might be throwing credits away. Can I get a rebate check in the mail?
  4. Party members can already join you on your ship, however I've never felt like my ship is really mine. With the exception of some legacy unlocks every ship looks the same within given classes. I'd love to be able to add a legacy/guild banner, change colors, perhaps a slave dancer or two... At the very least give us a ship with an interior indicative of alignment. Any basic variation would be nice.
  5. While its obvious that most MMOs are designed for mouse/keyboard and most of those who play them balk at a gamepad one advantage to gamepad support should be noted. Support for a gamepad adds greater appeal to those who prefer them. At the same time it adds greater flexibility for the developers if they were to choose to port the game to a wider range of platforms. A bigger potential audience helps keep games alive longer. Look at FF11, its not a technically impressive game in any category but its still alive and kicking partly because they've been able to expand their audience across multiple platforms. Doing something like that is only possible because of gamepad support.
  6. There is definitely a lot lacking in the legacy level. The only thing the level serves at the moment is unlocking the ability to buy abilities. It's quite a shame when you think about it. Originally we were told Legacy would be important, that if you play a lot of characters you could unlock abilities and if you play only one character you could buy those abilities. Instead we where given the same unlock options regardless of how we play. The upcoming legacy perks is a prime example of this. The level of you legacy should have some impact beyond giving me the ability to purchase an ability. As it stands if you strip away the legacy level requirements it would have no impact on how abilities unlock from the legacy system.
  7. The SWTOR.com link is actually fairly easy to pull off. The emails are sent in HTML, so you can display SWTOR.com in an address and the embedded link can point to almost an unlimited number of other URLs. If you're lucky there is a way you can combat these scams on a more personal level. If you are running an email client that lets you view the source you can find the true URL and plug that into whois.sc to get the regitrants information. If you are lucky you'll find a bogus address, usually a real location, that gives you the key to stopping them. If the address is legit try to find the contact info for that location and let them know someone is illegally registering sites using their address and this is a violation of the can spam act. The true own of the registered location can, and usually will, demand the site host remove the site. I've done this successfully several times. Unfortunately hosting companies will normally play dumb when it comes to spammers/scammers and tell you to contact the site owner, which every knows is useless. If a hosting service is contacted by the company occupying the location of the register they are legally bound to remove the registered URL. It's a bit of work to do all of the above but very satisfying when you successfully shut one of these ******es down.
  8. A simple question here, but where does it say podracing didn't exist in the same time period as the game? I can't seem to find any reference anywhere talking about when pod racing first occurred. The below link shows that racing started with animal-drawn carts, hanno speeders, swoops, and then podracers but doesn't give any info on the time frame of developement. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Podracing
  9. I think unique companions, unlocked via missions, could be a great addon to the game. Give players choices in a mission that change the resulting companion. It doesn't even need to be class specific. A mission with 4 or 5 possible companion outcomes could be fun. For example saving companion A instead of companion B results in companion A being added to your list of companions. Let our choices make a bigger difference in terms of compaions.
  10. I was able to solo him at 36, I did all the bonus series and regular missions on each planet with no space missions or pvp, so you can reach a level that will increase the chance victory. The thing is that even going at him at 36 victory is not 100%. I missed the chance to interrupt in my first two attempts and then got it right on the third. I'm not saying you need to be way over recommended level, but interrupt is the key. The reason interrupts fail is because you are under level for the encounter. If you reach the same level as an enemy the rate of interrupt success goes way up. Boss battles are always more about strategy then anything else. Interrupt is your friend and should be used appropriately. Vivicar isn't the last Boss you'll want to interrupt and the strategy will also cross classes, as many other classes have similar boss battles where interrupt is key. I don't think Vivicar needs to be adjusted at all. You just need to gain a few levels to increase the proc rate for your interrupts to work. Trust me when I say finally beating him at his current difficulty will feel like such a great accomplishment that you won't want him to change.
  11. How about some warzones that split players based on alignment. Dark vs Light with Neutral players mixed amoung the groups as needed. Give us some moral objective, perhaps protect refugees for light while dark works to kill them all. It could be fun to see a light alignment assassin working side by side with a light alignment sage to save a child from a dark gunslinger and dark juggernaut. When the timer is up the number of refugees left alive vs those dead decides the winner. Could be fun.
  12. I would love to see both Social and Valor Points bound to legacy. Social Points don't give any player an advantage over another, mainly just look as far as I know. I shouldn't be considered less social because I'm playing with an alt. The points should be cumulative across all my characters. I can't possibly be social with all my characters at the same time. Though, I do agree that not everything should be legacy bound. Adding every achievement to the legacy system devalues the effort that current players may have already put into the game. For example, a player who unlocks every datacron on two characters will have their achievement devalued if BW makes datacrons a legacy unlock. Kind of off topic, but just giving an example.
  13. Personnally I feel there shouldn't be any adaptive gear. Yes, you should be allowed to pick your look but keep some restrictions in place. A player in a dancer's outfit shouldn't be able to tank as effectively as someone wearing full body armor. I can't play basketball as effectively in clogs, now can I? Yes, its just a scifi game but some realism should be left alone and the star wars look should be left alone. Perhaps its just the Star Wars fanboy in me, but the look of Star Wars should be left as is. Of course it's just my opinion and other's can dress how they want.... Jedi Robes for Jedi!!!!!
  14. I've seen a number of threads about a Legacy Datacron and although I don't like the idea I can see how many would. Instead of just a blanket unlock perhaps it could be tied to class unlocks. For example a Smuggler who has collected all Cunning Datacrons would unlock it for all characters or a Knight unlocking Strength Datacrons for all classes. This would still encourage players to play alternate classes and grant the unlock that players are asking for.
  15. Definitely something they need to add. I to have many characters with different skills and find myself mailing items to myself constantly. Each ship should have a storage container added to it identical to your current cargo hold. As you fill up your Legacy Cargo Hold you should be able to expand it similar to expanding the Cargo Hold. This way a player with one or two alts could have shared storage and the option to expand it further would be available for players with a larger number of alts or craft often.
