  1. I'd rather have more Trooper-esque armor, if I'm honest. I think it looks fantastic, like the troopers from Clone Wars, but with even more variations. That looks like more of a Smuggler or Bounty Hunter outfit to me.
  2. That's the idea, yeah! I would love to give every member of the squad their own unique look, while keeping the same basic armor design.
  3. I want more versions of the Havoc Squad armor set. If nothing else, I'd like Jace malcom's set, with the rank pauldron replacing the left shoulder, the knife sheath on the front, and no backpack. Best case scenario, I'd love to see new sets made for each current member of Havoc Squad. A sniper set for Aric, medic for Elara, scout for Yuun, and shock trooper for Tanno. I'd like my squad to be uniform, but also unique. Get creative guys, there's a lot that can be done with a blank set of the armor that you've given us.
  4. As a Trooper, I was incredibly excited when I saw the Havoc Squad armor in a pack preview a while back. I was a little disappointed by the lack of the Havoc Squad insignia on the shoulders (I get that other classes wear it, but it's called Havoc Squad armor), the slight inconsistencies between it and the armor from the cinematics, and the giant backpack and chest strap. However, having the armor is fantastic, even if I missed the now extremely expensive helmet. As a proud Trooper and commander of Havoc Squad, it's a near perfect cosmetic choice. Now, I'd like to see more. This specific armor was based on the gunner from the Hope cinematic, the guy with the assault cannon (want that gunmetal color scheme on that model AC, by the way). The next clear choice would be the set worn by Jace Malcom, the one with the rank pauldron replacing the left side shoulder pad, the knife sheath on the front, and no backpack. Honestly, that's the one I want more than the gunner's. As a Commando, it fits my character fine, but as long as it has that impractically large backpack, I'd prefer something else. Then, you could get creative. Make a set for each member of Havoc Squad, all four of the Trooper's companions (sorry M1-4X, but you can't wear armor). A sniper's set for Aric, medic for Elara, scout for Yuun, and maybe shock trooper for Tanno. I can easily see it being a very good way to expand any Trooper's cosmetic wardrobe. Maybe throw a kama (those leather skirts) on one, or a snowtrooper-esque backpack, or some different optic systems on the helmet. There are so many combinations you could give us, and it would be such a perfect way to make each one of our companions uniform, but unique at the same time. Honestly, I'd like a system where we could take a set of armor in its default state and add other cosmetic items to it. For instance, you could wear a completely plain set of Trooper style armor, like the Havoc Squad set without any bits on it. But, if you wanted to make it into something more, you could add kama armor, backpacks, helmet optics, and other cosmetic accessories to the base model. Since we only just got cosmetic outfit slots, I don't see anything like that happening anytime soon. I think adding more distinct sets would be close enough. They don't even have to be available from the Cartel Market. Crafting, companion quests, vendors, there are lots of ways you could get it. I just want to be able to kit out my squad in as good a way as I've done for myself.
  5. I decided to subscribe to this game again, for a few months at least, to net all of the bonuses for KotFE. I honestly forgot how good it was. I finally started playing my Agent (Sniper) that I started along with my other future characters, and I'm amazed at the quality of his story now that I'm playing those missions back to back. The game itself is top notch, even if there are many things that I would personally change. New features, like the outfit system, have drawn me back and kept me here. I'm so happy to finally be able to find a good set of cosmetic gear, slap it on, and never have to worry about it ever again. No mods, only a modest installation fee, and only a severe inability to obtain Cartel Market sets to hold me back. Those resellers are brutal. On top of everything, the changes coming with KotFE are mostly things that I've been suggesting and waiting for since day one. Level sync, simplified stats, more cosmetic options for players and companion, more legacy-bound items, all sorts of quality of life changes that have me so excited for release. Overall, I'm once again impressed with this game. I wish that I had the money to keep subscribing, but college is putting quite a weight on that. In case someone important reads this, I'd happily pay a lifetime subscription fee to support this game, because I just don't have what it takes to keep a normal subscription going. Just keep that in mind. You guys are doing such a great job, despite all of the microtransactions that I hate with a passion. Keep going on like this, and you might just get me to say "This is better than SWG" one day. It probably won't be, at least in my mind, but if I even come close to saying it, you've won all you're going to win from me.
  6. I've played through this flashpoint five times, and I still haven't gotten the achievement or trophy decoration for defeating the final boss, Shae Vizla AKA "Torch". The first time I ran the flashpoint was in solo mode, because I was just going through the story at the time. I'm not sure if this prevents me from getting the achievement, but I got every other one from that flashpoint and every one from Battle of Rishi (also ran it solo the first time). I've played it four times using the group finder, and still nothing.
  7. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention it, but I'm looking for a PvE build. I'm not much of a fan of the current PvP state.
  8. With the new expansion released, I find myself searching once again for a guide to how to gear up my Commando (at level 55). Now, I have access to a decent set of mods from the new Rishi vendor. Since I wasn't geared too well (managed some SM ops and HM fps, not much else), these mods are better than what I have now. Since I also have over 1000 commendations after the conversion, I think this is a good time to overhaul. Specifically, I'm looking for a guide that gives me an idea of what each piece of my set should have in the way of mods. I'm looking for a Commando, Gunnery, DPS build. If there is no such guide, then I'd ask for assistance from anyone who reads this that might be more knowledgeable than I am. So far, I've been thinking of simply giving each piece a Power mod, alternating Critical/Surge and Alacrity/Surge enhancements, with the standard Reflex barrel/armoring (more aim than endurance).
  9. You know what? I really wish I could just delete this thread, because apparently not many people understand what I was trying to do. I don't want to debate which game was the best, I was simply posting about my experience in both games and sharing my opinion of which one I preferred. If you can't allow a few people to remember the good times in a game that they loved to play, then just get the hell out of this thread and give your opinion to someone who cares. This isn't a place to debate, this isn't a place to belittle either game, and I'm sorry it went that way so easily. So, screw it, I'm done. Have at it.
  10. You literally just contradicted yourself. Your post was about my opinion being "bragging" and "fanatical". So obviously, you don't care for my opinion any more than I agree with yours. All I'm saying is that you don't have to read my opinion at all if you don't like it. This isn't a thread to debate the issue, I'm simple sharing my experience. If you can't abide by that, then I will ask you to stop posting about that here. Whether or not you follow that is obviously up to you.
  11. And proud of it! There were enough to keep it interesting, at least.
  12. I never quite understood the complaints about the NGE update. I played for about 6 months before and nearly every day after. I'm even contributing to Project SWG, which attempts to recreate the game as it was when it shut down, NGE and all, and even promises to add more completely new content after that. I know that the game was made a lot more "simple" compared to the pre-CU game, but I liked it just as much, if not better, because it added a lot more things that balanced out that fact. I didn't care that being a Jedi wasn't hard anymore, I loved the new ability system, I loved nearly everything about it. This is the thing that I don't understand about people who support SWTOR as better than the post-CU/NGE SWG. It's even more simplified, instantly becoming a Jedi makes up half of the class system, and it's not even close to how expansive SWG was on its worst day.
  13. As I said in the very beginning, I don't hate SWTOR, I simply believe it was wrong to cancel SWG, and the introduction of SWTOR was a great part of that decision. And of course it's just my opinion, I just thought I'd share my experience and see if others thought the same. I like sandbox games a lot more because there is no clearly defined path. I remember my first time playing SWG, when I really didn't get involved in the social aspect of it at first. I got to a point in the main story line where it just seemed to end, and I thought "Well, what now?" I later met up with a guild that helped me out, and I finally saw the majority of the game, and it took me years to get to where I was when it shut down, nearly leading the guild that took me in.
  14. Thinly veiled? That's exactly what it is, I have no problem saying that. I loved the game, and I do think that SWTOR cannot possible compare to it. If you don't like my opinion, then stop reading, it's as simple as that. This is actually quite on topic, unless you think that criticism has no place in forums. If I want to spread my opinion that SWG was a vastly better game, who are you to say my opinion is right or wrong? I'm being honest based off of my experience, SWG was a much better sandbox game, even considering some big problems and graphics that some considered outdated. SWTOR is much more "on rails", and isn't a true sandbox. It's a long chain of quests that leaves you with nothing but a lot of repeating content, at least until they release something new. I could always find something fun to do in SWG, with so many collections and hidden quests to find and complete. After eight years, more entertaining content was still being released right up until the end. I only write this at all, and I only "belittle" SWTOR, because after going back and watching a few videos from when the game was going done, and after finally finding a project to re-release the game as an unofficial emulator, I realized that SWG was cancelled because this crappy WoW-inspired piece of garbage, with less requirement to think about what you're doing than Call of Duty, appealed more to MMO players. I, and other loyal SWG players, got to watch our game get shut down because people didn't want a harder game. Apparently, instead of a huge sandbox where you could create your own character and story, people wanted a straight line that spreads out a little bit here and there, leading to one point where there's nothing left but repetition.
  15. I'll agree that the game didn't have the best development team in the world, and there were many problems in the game, but I still consider it the best sandbox MMO I've ever played. Since I don't have the time nor the money to invest in EVE Online, it will probably remain that way until another comes along. I literally built a life in that game, as stupid as that sounds, and it was the most fun I've ever had playing a video game with other people.
  16. Not exactly. Heroic Missions are tough to find groups for, at least on my server, when you have about 5-10 people on any given planet and most if not all of them aren't top level. Even daily mission sections like Section X, Makeb, etc. are usually deserted. Flashpoints are difficult to complete when it spawns you into the instance with one or two members missing. Somehow, I always seem to find this problem, or I have someone leave in the middle of it without a word, or someone gets disconnected and never joins back up. PvP, again on my server, seems to be flooded with Sith Assassins that just love to go around and see how many of us they can take down in one or two hits before jumping back into stealth. For some reason, I never see anyone on the Republic side role a Jedi Shadow, so... we're always kind of screwed from the beginning. Don't even get me started on Galactic Starfighter... The controls are TERRIBLE, who in their right mind made the targeting reticle control both your guns (which can shoot at different angles?) AND your rotation, so after the 5 seconds it takes to close the distance between two fighters, you have to resort to spinning around each other waiting for one of you to break off and give the other a clear shot, because for some reason, blasters don't do any damage at point-blank range because the game can't figure out where your guns are aiming. The fact that it works off of an upgrade system means that a squadron of completely new fighters could be facing off against the best fighters the other squadron has to offer, with fully upgraded systems. So you explain to me how that's not unbalanced. And Operatiions... Sorry, I have nothing to say about these because I've never run a single one. When I do manage to get enough money to subscribe for a couple months, no Ops guild ever wants to take the time to train me because I am coming into it where people have been at it for a couple of years, and I've never been able to find a group for a Story Mode Op on the group finder. It's not bs, it's personal experience.
  17. I'm not sure why this popped into my head yesterday, probably because I was reading about Project SWG. I just thought I'd share my feelings about this game and how it compares to the one that was cancelled to make way for it. I really don't expect it to go anywhere.
  18. I know many think that SWTOR is a better game than Galaxies, but I played it for years, so I learned to love it more than any other game I've ever played. Here's why... I'm not saying I hate SWTOR, I'm simply saying that it's hard to see all the great things about it with that big wall of micro-transactions in the way. I try to walk back over the stuff that I've already done, and I keep tripping on pay-walls. It's really frustrating. In SWTOR, I have a level 55 Trooper, more specifically a Commando, with a big, good looking gun and a great suit of heavy armor that actually looks halfway decent (took me a while to procure that). My storyline is over, so I really only have weekly Heroic Missions (repetitive, difficult to find groups at all), PvP (horribly unbalanced), Galactic Starfighter (horribly unbalanced, terrible controls), Flashpoints (hard to find groups that fight worth a damn, and stay in the game through the entire thing), and Opera... oh, nevermind, I have to pay for Operations, and everything else after a certain number of attempts at keeping myself entertained... Now... Galaxies... I had a level 90 Commando, geared with the best armor money could buy and the best weapon traders could manufacture. I was a walking tank, destroying Imperials and scoring victories for the Rebel Alliance on every planet from Tatooine to Corellia. I explored the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk, the lava rivers of Mustafar, and the cold black of space. My Nova Courier was armed to the teeth with state of the art turrets, which were operated by my guild's best gunners. I could blast TIEs out of the sky all day long and only have to go a few meters into my ship's lounge (decorated it myself) to catch a break. I could then land on any planet, go out to any empty plain or crowded city that struck me as interesting at the time, place down a nice big house, or even an extensive bunker, and decorate it to my liking with trophies taken from thousands of different enemies. From suits of armor and a weapon rack to a nice rug and a few paintings, it was all mine, and I was proud of it. I was in a high position of a large guild of great players, on my way to becoming a co-leader when the game went down, and we ran missions all day long, sometimes to get new items to use or display, or to complete unique missions in all kinds of places, and sometimes we'd just go kill Imps for fun in the giant PvP zone which was so often packed. That doesn't even begin to cover all of the fun I had playing Galaxies, and that was just ONE of my three characters that I worked all the way up to be among the best. And what do I get after it's cancellation...? SWTOR, the Star Wars game that keeps confusing itself with World of freakin' Warcraft...
  19. I love that new chestplate. I'm currently using it on my Commando, trying to get the Kuat reputation legs and boots to complete my new set. It reminds me a lot of the Smart-Gunners from Aliens, with the giant armor plate on the front, and with no giant shoulder pads or backpack and a cool waist-cape, it's perfect for me!
  20. Couldn't have said it better. The list would remain the same, but when you click on a set, it would split into the list of individual pieces, from which you could copy the ones you've found.
  21. What I would like: (Assault Cannon) 1. Same design as the E-15 Rampage Cannon http://www.torhead.com/item/bhbVPcV/e-15-rampage-cannon#. 2. Black color, at least dark gray or silver 3. Moving lights (like recent Cartel Market weapons) effected by the Color Crystal 4. (Maybe?) Collapsible (like the Compact Sniper Rifle in the CM) I'm tired of oversized Assault Cannons, like "Death Star Gun" Kyber Assault Cannon and the soon to be released Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event reward Cannon, which splits into three giant metal sheets around the barrel. I want a smaller, simplified cannon like the one I listed above.
  22. I am tired of having to track down pieces of an armor set that I don't want just to have to ability to duplicate the one piece that I do want for my companions or other characters. The way the Collection interface should work is on an individual item basis. Every time you get a piece of an armor set, you should be able to duplicate that one piece, and not have to wait until you unlock the entire set. Since most people only have the opportunity to buy one of two packs at a time every month, it takes a LONG time to obtain entire sets among other items, including repeats, that you get from opening packs.
  23. The first of the Galactic Starfighter Cartel Market packs was released recently, and I was really excited to see that the armor that I had seen the concept art of, the Mountain Explorer armor set. I thought that it would provide a great, lightly armored appearance for my Commando. Enough armor to look like he could take a punch in a firefight, but still have enough maneuverability to get around quickly and not be weighed down as much. It also had a backpack that wasn't bigger than the armor itself, so I really liked the design. When I saw the actual, in game model, I was really disappointed to see that the shoulder pads, which were very pronounced in the concept art, were reduced to the regular, skin tight design that can be seen on the default appearance of the similar jackets. The only reason I was going to invest in finding it was because I finally could get that jacket design with shoulder pads that resembled normal armored ones and kept the color of the rest of the suit, but all I got was yet another skin tight jacket with pockets and a backpack. Don't get me wrong, I still like the armor, and I bought both models of it for my companions, but I'd really hope that they fix the chest plate to match the design they made for the concept. For reference, here are the pages where pictures can be found of concept art and the actual in-game model. Thanks to Dulfy.net for taking these shots and posting them. Here is the concept art page: bottom of page, right above the comment section http://dulfy.net/2013/11/14/swtor-ea-cantina-tour-thumbdrive-asset-files/ Here is the actual armor featured in the game: armor section, 4th and 5th item in the section http://dulfy.net/2014/01/10/swtor-wingman-and-dogfighters-starfighter-pack-preview/ The concept art shows the shoulder pads extend away from the armor, and share the exact design of the boots and other armored sections of the armor, while the in game model has the shoulder pads taken away completely, and the small area where they should be has a small pattern on the Mountain set that matches the armor's pattern and a solid color on the Badlands set, instead of the design that is present on the rest of it. This armor would have been the envy of many Troopers, Bounty Hunters, even some Agents or Smugglers if done correctly, but once again, skin tight armor designs have replaced practical armor...
  24. I honestly feel like I know what I'm doing. Staying in one place and providing fire support seems to be the only viable option when most of your abilities require an activation time. Moving around too much requires you to use abilities like explosive round more, costing more "ammo" and reducing overall damage. However, staying in one place means that you are easy prey for stealth classes, in addition to a lack of melee abilities and pushbacks. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. I'm trying to get into PvP again simply because some sweet looking weapons and armor are available from the vendors.
  25. This is why I support making custom armor, especially in the case of the Troopers. There are so many combinations of armor in this game and so many attachments that have been added to them that I really want to make my own personal armor with my own attachments (or lack of them), my own colors (and pattern selection), and maybe a personal touch like the one suggested in this thread. I like the idea of throwing a pazzak card on my armor, or something like that.
