The prequels are... diffrent. I don't HATE them, or even dislike them, but they are not as good as the good old originals. I think they are not as good because of storyline and characters. Leia was replaced by padme, leia introduces herself battling imperials to protect stolen plans from an evil empire. Padme introduces herself watching her planet be invaded by a small faction, and lets it happen. The bad guys in the originals are the empire, and always is the empire. They are in charge, they are bad, and the heroic rebellion are trying to topple them. The prequels are revered. The bad guys in the prequels are the trade federation, and they turn into the CIS, who turn out to be ruled by the sith who were hiding, and the good guys who are in charge, are less heroicly trying to stamp them out. The hero in the originals is a strong hero, he rises from farm boy to war hero to the last jedi knight. He resists the dark side and stays strong. Anakin goes from slave boy, to hero, back to slightly unstable jedi, hero, unstable, evil. The hero is the pillar of any story, and anakin was not such a good pillar (Although this was intentional, but did not work out). Villan wise, the main villan changes from maul, to dooku, to grevous and eventualy palpatine. In the originals, its vader and his master, and stays that way. People prefer this, as it makes it makes the villan seem more epic. I don't dislike the films, I don't mind them, but they are not as good as the origninals in my opinion. P.S. Another reason people don't like them is because their release was part of the whole star wars overhaul that stopped the original originals and replaced them with the special edition originals (The only version avaliable since 1997)
