  1. That is a kind of you to say. Our plan is to continue to participate in group ranked PVP as we aspire to become competitive with other top tier groups. We look forward to future encounters and I am certain we will meet again on the battlefield. Feel free to whisper me in game and I shall do the same if you would like to queue up. "Giga"
  2. Except... it would not be "Getting everything for free." It would be, "We're getting everything for $15 a month." Subscription models did not die out because they are inferior models. They died out because companies could no longer profit with that model by making the same game we've been playing for 10 years. Essentially, people buy a new MMO that promises to be Subscription based which they like because Subscriptions are a fair deal. But when they get into the game, they leave within the first month because a) it's too short, b) there is zero reason to stick around once you've completed the content, and c) you already played this game, last month, and d) the first month was "free" anyway. Free to Play + Item Shop is a business model of desperation to squeeze out every cent you can out of a product before changing it. People only play these games BECAUSE they can play it free. The Item Shop is there (from a business standpoint) because if you throw candy at people... they will buy it. You'll notice that they never dropped the Subscription model. Oh no. It's still there. It's still there because it's the only reliable source for constant income from month to month. They need this income to continue with the updates and maintenance. In other words, Subscribers pay for the F2P crowd to enjoy frequent updates to the game. I BOUGHT THAT FOR YOU! Subscribers are getting screwed because a) we already paid for that content to be made, b) people who don't subscribe are benefiting from the updates we paid for, c) and for some reason, these same people think we want something for free... when we've already paid for EVERYTHING, including their ability to play the game!
  3. I do a lot of Mat buying and selling. There is good money it that especially if the item you are selling is low in stock. I have a standard by which I price stuff which depends on rarity and level grade, and then I adjust that depending on the competition. If I find a stack of a competitor's product which has a unit value substantially less than mine, I buy it, unless the stack size is huge. I usually don't buy anything more than stacks of 10-15, unless the pricing is just too good to pass up or I feel that it's pricing model will compete too heavily with my own. For instance, buying a stack of 99 (of any product) for $10,000 is a steal regardless of whatever strategy I have. Plus, that sort of competition is a no-brainer. Anyone who would sell that much for so cheap doesn't know what they are doing. There are a lot of people like this in the game. Typically, however, I don't buy any stack larger than what I normally sell - stacks of 25 - even if their unit price is less than mine. Why? Because people who sell very large stacks, even at a low unit price, will always have a very large credit amount associated with their product. Most people will see the large number, and then continue to look somewhere else. This is good for me - I want them to look somewhere else. When they see the same product (mine) in a stack of 25, they think, "Hey, that's a good stock, and the price is fair. I'll buy that. Oh look, he's selling 4 of these. I'll get those too." Now, I have sold 100 units for a higher unit price and made more money than the guy who sold a stack of 99 for a lower unit price. Why does this work? First of all, my prices are fair. They give me a slight profit more than I would normally, but the differential is so small, people don't take the time to figure it. I want this to happen, because I don't want them to think about it. I just want them to say instantly see the product and the reasonable price and say, "Yes, that's what i want." But also, because most people are more willing to put down $25,000 credits 4 times than they are putting down $90,000 one time, even if they are going to receive fewer units at the end. Don't believe me? Ask yourself which MMO business model is more successful: Subscription or Free to Play + Item Shop. People prefer micro-transactions. This sort of strategy is only necessary on the lower grade Mats though. You're mostly dealing with people grinding through the levels of their Craft. If they are going to the GTN for Mats, then they are doing it do save time and effort. So, they want their money to go for the most good. People buying top tier Mats are generally pretty easy to sell to. The Mats they want are so rare, the prices change very very often. They get what they can get. They're usually so rich, it hardly matters, though. I mean... within reason.
  4. Yeah... except we already pay a subscription for something that should be getting this content anyway.
  5. Graphics shouldn't have anything to do with internet latency as the graphics are handled by the client and not the server. If you suffer from any sort of lag, it will be purely graphical and will relate to some sort of hardware issue. Running at that resolution requires some things. You need a GFX card that will support it. Then you will need a GFX card that will perform well with the game at that resolution. Some games perform better than others at such resolutions because of simply what is taking place on screen. Lastly, you will need a monitor that supports the resolution to begin with. For optimal performance, it is best if the monitor's native resolution is the same as your desired resolution.
  6. I use a 40in LED Television with native resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz. Check Best Buy or a similar outlet. You might find one on sale for a relatively good price. Gaming on a 27' monitor is nice. Gaming on a 40' monitor is ever better.
  7. I think the problem with the Sub model isn't that it isn't profitable or that people prefer something else. I think it has to do with the intrinsically finite nature of Themepark design. Themeparks end. There is no real game loop or end game. What there is of an end game is nothing more than gear building. This game is much more intensive than WoW, though, because you aren't just gear building for your character, but also gear building for all of your companions. Unfortunately, gear-building for your character is boring enough. The fact that we can put mods in a thousand different selections only makes it worse. Now, we aren't just trying to get that helmet... we're trying to get one piece of that helmet. And not just for ourselves, but for our companions. To get these pieces, we have a couple of options. We can either grind out the dailies to build up the Comms (which will take forever) or we can grind out the dailies to build up the credits (which will take forever) to buy similar grade mods from crafters. This is the loop, and frankly... it's boring as hell. Not because the combat isn't fun or the game isn't slick... but because you're doing the exact same dailies every day, the exact same thing over and over and over and over again. SWTOR isn't the first game to do this. This is how ALL Themeparks are built. They do this so you have something to do until they can release the next big expansion, with content we will eat up in a week. But more importantly, there will be new pieces of gear we have to build up all over again. Subscriptions don't work in this sort of environment. They worked a lot better when games were more of a Sandbox operation. Not that they were completely Sandbox titles - but they were more so than anything we have today.
  8. Alright, thanks for the heads up. This sucks, but I guess there's no reason to stick around trying to get it to work. I'll just skip it. My OCD will not like this
  9. This isn't really a technical issue, but I don't know where else to put it. I'm having trouble with this quest. I also created a thread in the Flashpoints/Heroics forum just to make sure. If this is not the right place, please move this to where it belongs, and I apologize before hand. So, I did a search for this issue, and found 2 threads. One was about the tank that spawns being OP, the other was about a bug with the terminal "You can't use this right now." Well, I cannot use the terminal. The other thread said to change instances to resolve this issue. Which to be fair, I would in a heartbeat, no question. Except, I cannot do that. Unfortunately, there is no option to switch instances. Yes, I know how to switch instances - there is only one instance available since the option to switch isn't even on my map. Also, I have attempted this mission several times on different days. I cannot switch instances, and I cannot interact with the terminal. So... now what? Is this a dead quest until it's fixed or is there some other way to jury rig this into working?

  11. I am shield spec but run DPS gear. Primary stats i am running end 16k health, aim 1250ish. secondary crit-300, power-200, surge-150. you can dish out pretty good dps and still take a beating. opted for all the pvp centric abilities in shield. very similar to taugrims iron fist with a few tweaks. not at my full potential (450 expertise) but can already go toe to toe with most bm's (50/50 success rate, bm healers are tough!) and usually rack up 6-8 medals a game. WZ's i avg. 200+k damage and 20+ kills with 50k+ protection. sad that i get about a 20-30% success rate in WZ's. just have bad luck getting in good groups i guess.
  12. ^This. Level 49 here and although I received a great many kills/objectives, I still died as much as the rest of them. I'm embarrassed to admit I got schooled by a level 34!
  13. Wouldn't it make sense to just make Expertise and Non-Expertise WZ's? So you can select which WZ you want to enter. If you have expertise gear and select the Non-Expertise WZ, you will receive a DEBUFF much like the BUFF currently in game?
