  1. It's always helpful to show video of a new feature, so props on taking the time to do so. You should record some PvP space action while you're at it. Cheers.
  2. I have 2 friends I got to play with me on this. They were NOT excited about the GSF expansion. They thought it would be underwhelming. Their words. I thought I would enjoy it, and my enthusiasm convinced them to resub early to get access to this. We played all last night, on both the Republic and the Empire sides. We had a blast, but they actually liked it more than me, and I really liked it. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that as I sit here at work typing this message, 1 of them is playing it right this minute. We are seeing more people because this is what people wanted in the first place (well... one of the things people wanted in the first place; pve space content can come later). Other posters are correct. If they had included this content when the game released, more people would have stayed with the game. Keep it up BioWare. Add more to this, don't make winning and losing become all about gear, and add pve space content and mini-games, and you'll be in a much better place. Oh and don't neglect the rest of the pve game. Keep to your original vision and craft some epic story arcs that no other MMO has. It's what makes this game unique in the MMO space.
  3. Speaking as the pilot of my GSF, I can report that I make comments A LOT to my crew. I also comment at everything else I'm doing. Sadly, I can't repeat the majority of it in a public forum.
  4. My computer has crashed because of this game. I think I have it narrowed down to my graphic card driver. I ran Drive Sweeper then downloaded the newest driver for my computer and it seems to have set things right. For now. This is the only game that has ever actually crashed my computer. Well done BioWare.
  5. Hey I'm glad you like the game OP, because I like it too. For different reasons which I won't bore you with now. Also pie. I like pie.
  6. Wait, it's skill based? Don't get me wrong, you need your skill to go dogfight, I thought it had a lot to do with gear too? Shield upgrades and such? Confused. Either way I can't wait to jump in NEXT WEEK!
  7. Here, on Newegg they have a selection of candidates. http://www.newegg.com/Store/PromotionStore/ID-2080068?name=Gaming-Laptops
  8. I agree. He needs one with a dedicated graphic card. Keep on shopping.
  9. I agree with the OP. Solid conception of the Swoop Racing mini-game. You don't have to worry about Swoop Racing being on rails. Racing games are SUPPOSED to be on rails. A Mario Kart (spell it with a K) comparison sounds very valid to me. People could freely move around the track and mess with other players on their swoops just like in Mario-Kart. Then because it's an MMO and people love to customize, they could add in a customization feature much like they are doing with Starfighter. It's do-able and I would love playing it. I would probably live in the PvE version of it, then when I want to go crazy pop into the PvP version.
  10. What the heck man... not many people are running at 2560x1440. The standard sweet spot for HD gaming is at 1920x1080. When people are talking about fps they usually want to know what the rig runs in the 1920x1080 range, or less.
  11. For its time, the game was amazing. It is archaic by todays standards of course, but the story at least is still pretty good, if nothing else is. If you don't like the story, well that's a matter of taste. Most people I know find it to be a better story than certain Star Wars Movies I could name, and I would agree. On thinking about it, I suspect this thread is a troll. It doesn't make sense to play an old game then trash it on a BioWare site unless you were just looking to spark flame wars. So, well done, you got me to respond. Sorry, no flames from me though.
  12. EA getting exclusive rights is basically a disaster for Star Wars fans in the same way EA getting exclusive rights for the NFL was a disaster for gaming sports fans. Lack of competition will lead to generic offerings with small updates each year that punish the fans for being fans.
  13. Yes! C'mon it was part of the 1st game it should be a part of this one too.
  14. This. Exactly this. Dudes who don't get huttball isn't about kills so much as it's about teamwork and positioning. Look OP, adjust your idea of what your roll in Huttball is. If you're all about kills, fine. Then stay in the center and clear it of enemies so when the ball spawns, you can quickly grab it and throw it to a waiting teammate so you can get back to killing.
  15. We have player housing in the form of ships. what you really need is player housing decorations.
  16. In my opinion, this is accurate. I see the bottleneck being his CPU, rather than his GPU. The 560 Ti is more than enough to keep steady fps if the CPU can keep up, which in this case, I think his can't. A new motherboard that can use a core i series CPU would be what is needed here, i think. Even one of the early ones, like a core i5 2500k would make a huge difference, and they are fairly cheap, as these things go.
  17. Go to your account, then click subscription. Scroll all the way down. It will say something like "if you want to go free-to-play, you can..." and there is a button to cancel your subscription there on the right. Strange to cancel right before new space pvp though, but to each their own. Take care.
  18. I view the class story as the cherry on top, not the actual feast. If you played only the class story and nothing else, you would finish the game start to finish in a few hours. Because of that, I see this discussion of releasing more class story in a vacuum rather strange. We should get more class story along with a bunch of other stuff. It takes time to develop and release, so it's perfect for expansions, such as the last one. The pro? greater connection to your character and his/her companions, fun adventure = greater enjoyment of the game. The con? It doesn't last long. That's why they should roll it out along with some other attraction, such as PvE space content, new adventure areas, new classes and races, changed status-quo content.
  19. Ravenhurst... I quit the game and came back. I came back because I heard of the expansion and the upcoming space pvp, which is something I asked for a lot back before I left. If they want to keep me from leaving again, they'll listen to subscribers like me. Or do you think that free-to-play players DON'T want PvE space content, mini-games such as card games and swoop racing, more class story, character customization, pvp maps and pve gameplay content? Because that's what I as a subscriber want. What do you think they would want that is different than what I would want?
  20. That's funny, I was literally seconds away from posting the same thought. Make it a non-optional, 1 time only poll when people log in, and you will get a true survey result. Or as true a result as you're likely to find... many will likely just click answers at random just to get through it... such as gold farmers who can't even be bothered to create names for their spamming toons.
  21. Your graphic card will probably run the game at max settings. You running with only 3 gb of system RAM is something you should upgrade though. It's fairly cheap. It seems likely, if you have 3 gbs, that you have 3 sticks, each of which are 1 gb in your computer. Get 6 gb of total RAM instead (3 sticks of 2 gb RAM).
  22. Getting arena's when I specifically queued for Warzones is very annoying to me and the friends I pvp with. Just my 2 cents.
  23. Oh good, class story and mini-games are getting the most votes. I hope this has not gone un-noticed.
  24. Just because TOR didn't do as well as many hoped doesn't make Panda's less ridiculous (in a funny way) in WoW. I was certainly one of the idiots who thought TOR would do better than it has, but NO ONE thought TOR would kill WoW. I believe one of the popular sayings at the time by one of the posters here was "Let WoW be WoW. Let TOR be TOR." Or something along those lines. Meaning they are different games and they would succeed or fail on their own. I don't see TOR as the lost cause the OP of this thread paints it as. It still has a lot of potential and the developers seem like they are still willing to add more to it.
  25. Success is a relative term. It always boils down to cost vs return. For a simple demonstration of this relative perception of the success of an entertainment medium, look no further than movies. If movie a costs $15 million to make, but then word of mouth gets around and people go see it, netting a $64 million return, it is viewed as a blockbuster success (this is roughly the story of a movie such as Bad Grandpa). Another movie might cost 110 million to make, but then no interest in the movie is shown and few people go see it, netting around 34 million, it is viewed as a box office failure. (this is roughly the story of a movie such as Ender's Game.) In games, the same principle holds true, even if the means by which measurement of success and failure is different. Look at Eve Online. They have roughly 500k subscribers, but the budget for the game is low, with 1 server, and it is viewed as a great success and has never had to go free to play to save itself. Star Wars cost more to make and keep up, with more servers, and expectations for its profitability are higher, so 500k subscribers for Star Wars is seen as a relative failure. TOR failed by that measure, but despite that, it appears it remains profitable, because after all, 500k subscribers is still a good amount of people. I am left wondering how EA views the future of the game. If they add the right kind of content, such as what people have been asking for since the start of Beta (PvE free flight space content, Mini-games such as card games and swoop racing, more class story) numbers are almost certain to rise, and 3 years from now the game could be just as healthy in subs as WoW is. "Could" being the operative word.
