  2. Because having a loyalty based reward system would make far too much sense. I wouldn't necessarily use the OP's numbers, but the concept in and of itself is sound; an increase in coins received based on time subbed. It wouldn't necessarily have to increase every month, and it could always cap-out at a certain point (especially if other rewards were implemented, such as a unique pet after being subscribed for 6 months, a unique hat after 12, etc).
  3. By this logic, no-one should receive any kind of compensation. Also, in order to play the game, we should have to walk up a mountain, barefoot, in a blizzard, carrying our computer, both ways. Because RL is **** sometimes, so we should reflect that in every aspect of our lives, right?

  8. Actually, I looked at facebook the regular amount of times that I look at it and noticed 2 (though I'm told there were 3) giveaways. Also, you missed my point. If this wasn't going to be a big thing, they shouldn't have advertised like it was going to be a big thing. Same as with the subscriber appreciation bonus. Actually, it seems to be a pretty common problem with Bioware's marketing strategy; they hype things up (or provide the grounds for things to be hyped up) then fail to deliver on their hype. Like the other thread criticizing the anniversary pointed out, "some of the things you can expect to see are...". Some of the things. They should have said all of the things and there wouldn't be half as much disappointment.

  10. It was two (so far as I saw) at the time of posting. Also, I don't particularly care about 450 cartel coins, I'm just finding this whole celebratory event to not involve much incentive to celebrate. This cartel coin giveaway is simply the lamest aspect of the whole thing.

I was just going to drop the assumptions as it detracted from the argument, but since you insist, You assume how far I've gotten in the class stories, and assume that I haven't taken any breaks from this game based on that assumption. There's been at least 3 months where I flat out haven't played, and only 3 or 4 where I've played seriously. Additionally, you assume that this isn't the game for me, based solely on my disinterest for side quests, disregarding the fact(s) that: PvP exists, Operations exist, class story exists. I enjoy this game for the most part, I do not enjoy playing through the side quests for the 3rd/4th time. Logic dictates that if I can get through the levelling (note: levelling, not class story) faster, then I'll enjoy it more. On to the main argument: it is perfectly acceptable to compare the side quests to a (mediocre) book. All that changes based on choice is the dialogue, besides that they're generally nothing more than "here is the reason that I want you to collect/kill 10x". Do I have to do these side-quests when 2x XP is not in effect? No. Unfortunately, they are the most efficient way to level, with flashpoints providing less xp than normal levelling/taking longer to get in to and WZs providing less XP/sometimes being simply frustrating to play. As to your last point, I'm not sure why you brought that up. I've never said that double XP should be forced (beyond questioning why people are so opposed to it during the weekends) and I'd love to see it as an optional purchase.
  13. I do care about the story. I cared about the side quests once, the planetary quests twice and I've still got 3 class quests to finish. You're assuming I don't care about story; I do. Tell me, though, as someone who loves a good story, how many times do you read the same book in one year? Twice? Three times if it's really good? How many times do you read a mediocre book in a year? Do you read it more than once? Why? You could be reading a different book. The side quests are mediocre, at best. Playing them once was enough, now all they amount to is a boring grind so that I have enough experience to continue pursuing the story that I actually care about.
  14. The only thing holding me back from completing my last 3 class stories is the boring side/planetary quests. I like how you make assumptions, though. Really adds to the strength of your argument.
  15. The game has been out for more than a year, I've taken a couple of breaks and the side content is still mind-numbingly boring. Trusting you was the worst decision ever.
  16. Because (and I'm going into a more general example because this evidently isn't the case for the seeker armour) the time spent obtaining the item is cheapened. Say a kid picks up rubbish at lunch time because he'll be rewarded with ice-cream. It's not the funnest task, but he has the reward in mind so the time spent picking up rubbish isn't necessarily boring. However, when he goes to collect his reward, he finds that all of the kids are getting ice-cream, even if they didn't collect rubbish. He now realises that he could have been doing something more fun and received the reward anyway, thus the time he did spend collecting rubbish is made worthless. His enjoyment is retroactively taken away, going from 'picking up this rubbish is so going to be worth the ice-cream!' to 'picking up all that rubbish was an utter waste of time, I shouldn't have bothered'. When we're doing a chore with a reward in mind, that chore can become fun. When that reward is given to those who did not do the chore, we feel as if we have been robbed of the time that we spent doing the chore; we retroactively associate doing said chore with negative emotions, whereas before we may have retroactively associated doing the chore with positive emotions.
  17. Could it be that he enjoyed spending the time obtaining the pieces because he was being rewarded for that time spent, and now that the pieces are essentially being given away for free he feels that that time spent has been cheapened?
  18. Thoughtful would imply that the gesture requires thought. Throwing a fake $5 in an attempt to placate the masses is not thoughtful. It's nice, I won't deny that. If the one-time 500 CCs is part of something larger, great. If we're only appreciated to the point of a one-off 500 extra CCs grant, though, I'd say that they don't appreciate us very much at all.
  19. Are the 500 CCs all we're getting, or can we expect something thoughtful too?
  20. I think that PvP levelling can often feel like it's extremely slow, based on whether or not games are close, queues are popping or if you're just suffering general WZ burnout.
