  1. Light or Dark choices often impact how much (in any) money/rewards quest givers send you in the mail.
  2. If this was their plan, why wouldn't they have scheduled it for next week in the first place? Then it would have seemed like a coincidence in scheduling rather than incompetence. If I was going to cancel (which I'm not, love the game) finding out the dev team couldn't put a patch out on time isn't going to make me reconsider.
  3. Social points are awarded for a certain play style. If you do not have that play style, it is more difficult to get them. How is this different than fleet commendations, valor, raid gear, etc? I want a purple lightsaber. I can't get a purple crystal from just questing with my friends and rolling alts. I'm going to have to PVP or raid to get one even if that isn't my play style.

  5. I have leveled one character solo and the other in a group almost 100% of the time. I can say they are two very different experiences. It's only a single player game if you want it to be.
  6. When I think of tanks I don't just think of them getting and holding aggro, but also them being able to take damage. From what I've seen so far tank companions have got the first one down but suck at the second. Him holding the aggro doesn't do me much good if all those mobs beating up on him kill him in 5 seconds.
  7. At least you get two romance options. If you choose LS you're really no worse off than the other classes. Maybe I want to romance Gault or Talos Drellik or any other companion other than the one choice I'm given.

I will be happy as long as it's A) not cross server and B) lets me have a say in who I group with (and I don't mean leaving a group with someone I don't want to group with and being placed at the end of the queue again). People who are desirable to work with should not have the same queue times as those who are jerks, which happens in an automated system.
  9. Yes, that is also a possibility. If you don't train your abilities and you don't upgrade your gear the quests should be significantly harder. Another option, instead of not using your companion at all, would be to toggle off everything but their most basic ability. That way you still have the feel of questing with your companion like everyone else but they do significantly less damage. You could also stop upgrading their gear. I would often do ALL the zones in WoW so I would be over leveled for about half of them. They would still be fun though if I put on my statless dress and used my skinning knife. I haven't tried with TOR but I imagine the same would still hold true.
  10. I apologize for not reading all the pages, so someone might have suggested this already. As an altoholic I definitely feel your pain. My solution is to buy some orange (moddable) gear that you like the look of. Put that on with no and/or low level mods. Only take out your companion for heroic quests and conversations. Between the two of these solutions even grey quests should no longer be faceroll easy.
  11. Nope, I've got from LS5 to LS4 and back half a dozen times thanks to diplomacy missions. The problem is that when you get knocked down, you can't wear your gear for the duration you're knocked down. At least that's the way it seems based on the OP, I don't actually have any LS5 gear. If that is the case then there needs to be some allowance so you don't have to carry around two sets of gear.
  12. Not really, you just have to make sure you make enough [your side] choices to balance it out. Every time you make a [your side] choice over 10,000 it deducts from your [other side] points. So if I have 10,000 [my side] points, then make 100 [other side] points, as soon as I make 100 more [my side] points I'll be back to the 10,000 net points. As long as you consistently make more [your side] choices than [other side] choices a buffer should work. I'm sure the reason they have a cap is to prevent people from having an ungoldly amount of points. This could become an issue when an expansion comes out, as people could automatically go from rank 5 to rank 7 or whatever the new highest will be. A better solution IMO would be to make the cap a little higher, say 10,250 points with rank 5 still starting at 10,000. This way they don't need to allow you to use [your side] gear at a lower rank, but you don't have to worry about making a few [other side] choices either.
  13. I guess I don't see the zoning as a big deal. It doesn't seem like enough of a nuisance for them to spent time/resources creating another travel method when they could be spending that time/resources on something else. They already made it easy enough for us by putting all the instances in the same place.
  14. I do agree that there needs to be a universal LFG channel. This would eliminate a lot of general spam (as only people currently looking for a group would see it) as well as enable people to form groups faster. I see no reason why one shouldn't be implemented. I would much rather have a channel (as well as a slightly better interface) than an autogroup feature. I don't however think you should get ported to the instance. Yes people might be at random different parts of the galaxy, but the flashpoints are all at pretty much one location. How hard is it for everyone to run to a flight path, get a taxi to the spaceport, get on their ships and instafly to the fleet? Getting ported everywhere takes away from the feel that the galaxy is a huge place. Not being ported also provides an opportunity for the group to socialize a bit and discuss strategies or whatever while in transit.
  15. Yeah I thought it was odd that there is no /roll as well. I was grouping with my husband I thought we were needing anything we needed, and he thought there was no point needing if we both needed it so he pressed greed. I pressed need before I realized he wasn't going to so I got it. With /roll we could have easily re-rolled. Obviously this particular scenario wasn't that big of a deal, I just kept it and he got the next upgrade... it was just odd not having the option.
  16. Using this logic, having a good experience with a LFG tool in another MMO does not mean it will be good for TOR either.
  17. I made friends (even met my husband) in the pre-dungeon finder days. These friends were a huge part of what made the game enjoyable. Post-dungeon finder I no longer made friends in dungeons. Even if I met someone who I would like to group with again, I most likely wouldn't be able to because they were on a different server. Once my other friends started quitting for various reasons the game became far less enjoyable. There was accountability before and there wasn't after. I've seen some people say "well ninjaing will always happen" and while this is true, there are different degrees and varying consequences. I can't speak for all servers but on mine characters could get a good or bad reputation. If someone was a ninja you would tell your friends and that person would not get invited to future groups. If someone was helpful or good at their role they would be more likely to find a group. With a dungeon finder like WoW everyone has an equal shot at finding a group regardless. I believe it is possibly to make a LFG interface that appeals to both sides of the coin. It doesn't have to create the group for you and port you to the instance for it to b useful for casual players on a schedule. At least at first there should be no need for cross server as the servers are quite populated. The tool they have now does need some work but there is no need to go to the extreme that WoW did. The dungeon finder in WoW is one of the main reasons I quit. Will not having a dungeon finder lead you to quit the game? If so at least you have other games to play.
