  1. I'm with you on this. The responses that claim that morality is dictated by social forces don't make a lot of sense to me. (Whether or not a killing is moral depends on whether or not it's government sanctioned? I don't think that's a position most people would consistently apply to history.) On the other hand, there's the brutalization effect to consider, the psychological results of killing another human being aren't generally positive. Our morality is rooted in our intuitions, and at the end of the day the writers are human beings whose decisions about which choices are considered light or dark are going to be inevitably rooted in their own subjective views. Sometimes those views are going to clash with others, including yours and mine. It can't be avoided.
  2. Yeah, I'm no prude either. It's just that the skimpy outfits are getting so ubiquitous it's starting to feel like Star Wars: The Baywatch Edition.
  3. I think they're counting new nightmare modes as guild content, since only guilds will be able to clear them.
  4. We had one before the game released. Bioware decided it was a wretched hive of scum and villainy, so they canned it. I doubt it'll come back.
  5. Yeah I agree with this. I've been leveling a carnage marauder, and losing the top tier there made a big difference.
  6. If you want a Diablo 2 clone, I'd try Path of Exile instead.
  7. Trust me, you don't want to live in the housing project.
  8. 1% matters. It doesn't matter often, but sometimes the raid wipes with the boss at 1%. Sometimes the boss goes down with the tank at 1% health. It doesn't happen very often, but it happens. People who know how to play may not stress out about 1%, but they know that 1% matters.
  9. The achievement system is an utter disaster. As I browse through it, it's clear that it's not updating a large number of things I did. If it was an actual progression system with rewards I'd be angry, but as it is I just shrugged and moved on. Besides, I got like 600 cartel coins from the things it actually did update.
  10. For your sub to be over $17 a month, the sales tax would have to be over 13%. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States#Summary_table That doesn't exist. I think you are exaggerating.
  11. You can buy the CD down to 15 minutes, and there's no reason you'd need the repair vendor/mail more often than that. You can use them everywhere you go. And it's better than putting that function on the ship droid. As it is, each op member can use their droids on demand. Changing it to the companion would cause problems for full ops/fp groups, it would actually be less convenient than the status quo.
  12. As far as the time it takes to do the BH/SX dailies, that's really dependent on luck. If your schedule leads you to do them at off hours with 20-30 people in the instance, you can blow through each quest in a couple minutes. If you're playing at peak hours with 50-60 people, you're going to spend a good bit of time going in circles waiting for respawns.
  13. If only that were true, my healer's repair bill would be significantly less.
  14. People do exaggerate the amount of money they make, but you can get creds pretty fast on Makeb. Get the Makeb weekly and all the GSI and the daily planet quests. Following the weekly around, you'll knock out 2-3 missions in each hub. The other thing I think we forgot to mention is gear. If you run FP's and ops you're going to blow through things a lot faster than if you're still in 61-63 gear or lower. Toons I've geared into 69's mow down mobs and don't need to heal frequently, while my less geared alts take longer to kill packs and have to stop and heal more often.
  15. We already have field vendor, mail, and respec. Your group can already use your field droids.
  16. That's what I noticed too. A lot of the smoothest runs I've done had very few chat messages, as everyone knew the fights and kept moving at a fast pace. The tank chain pulled and people only spoke when there was something relevant/important to say.
  17. Anyone who can afford a filing fee can sue. I could walk down to the courthouse right now and file a suit against you for that post, which would be basically the same thing as someone suing over a suggestion, with about the same results.
  18. It appears to just be the Harbinger. Nothing on the server forums either. No one on Makeb had any idea either.
  19. "Forms/stances" are a mechanic that allows for partial hybridization (a dps merc can switch cylinders and off-heal in a pinch) or they restrict some abilities to a spec (an Annihlation marauder doesn't get Ataru form hits or things that trigger from it)." It's not there so you can identify someone's role.
  20. I'd like to build a little on what others have said. Generally you're going to want to go all the way to the top of a skill tree to get the capstone ability because it's extremely useful. Consider a Sorceror. Thundering Blast is a hard hitter if you're dps. You probably want it. Revivification is so useful it's basically mandatory for operations healing (you won't use it on every boss, but on some AoE healing is a necessity). The bottom two tiers of skills are often things that are useful to all specs. 100 extra force is helpful for all PvE specs, as is increased Willpower and crit chance. You can see similar design in the Marauder tree. Defensive forms having an effect for all specs is a clear sign it's at the bottom because it's universally helpful. The same for enraged slash. On the other hand, Malice is clearly useless for Carnage. This is just the general rule of thumb. Go to the top of your main tree and then look at the bottom tier skills from other trees that are designed to be generally useful. As you learn more about game mechanics you'll be able to make more refined decisions from there.
  21. I think those of us who've been playing since launch got too used to facerolling HMs, as we seriously outgeared all but LI for months. It's a bit of shock finally having FP's require things like strategies, cc. and coordination. I don't think that's a bad thing. It's a lot more engaging than barreling through The Foundry for the 35th time for comms and everyone vendors the gear drops.
  22. Try meeting actual women in real life. None of them that I know find high heels particularly comfortable. They wear them either because they want to feel attractive or it's expected of them in a professional setting.
  23. I'd like to see it simply as a customization option. Provide a number of colors that people can choose from. It could be a legacy unlock.
  24. You could buy a physical card and then e-mail him the code, maybe have a friend elsewhere do it?
