  1. The excuse of the company not being able to afford anything is just a joke, right? With the budget they had at release, with all the subs they had, with EA owning the game. Truth is - they released the game in a broken, useless engine, they copied WoW to "play it safe" (I am almost quoting one of the Devs from interviews before the release), and now they can't add anything that is innovative cos they don't know how.
  2. So why did you come to THIS thread to say that OTHER threads have childish complaints? This one does have very good and valid points and yet you used it to whine a bit about other people. It's a funny vicious circle - we whine about the game, you whine about the people that whine about the game. I actually think that people trying to silence people with issues with the game are the ones that should feel foolish. I remember seeing replies from other people like "if you don't like the game, leave" and look at the game now. Only a few servers left, subs super low, game still buggy, dumbed down and still just a WoW star wars copy. People abandoned it, just like you fanboys wanted.
  3. What was taken out of context? I don't understand. You post another "stop whining, you're not helping" to protect your precious lie that this game does not need anybody to tell you it's got issues. It's got huge issues. OP posted valid points and they sort of have solutions within themselves already, but you refuse to see it, being in your usual defense mode of "how dare they say bad things about this game? Whiners".
  4. What do you mean "no real feedback or solutions"? He just basically said: - Improve Companions - Add more good looking items - improve the storage system (size etc) - add more maps (agree completely) - test your game better before you release new content (super valid point) - Make sure that there is no single spec that player has to use to be viable Most of these things were talked about before the release, before the Beta even released. I know, cos I was part of these discussions. Don't tell me there was no solution given. There were thousands of solutions given, and plenty of constructive feedback. Nothing changed. I have to say, seeing Bioware rip off other RPGs than WoW for a change is quite refreshing. I was hoping for that level downscale for various zones. I like that a lot. I hope they rip off more features from other MMOs. A bit of a sarcasm here, but I really do like the downscaling system now. I can skip the boring zones like Taris etc. So yeah, PLENTY of solutions, but nobody to listen. Never! They never listen, seriously.
  5. I have the same issue. My game runs a bit better on high than low settings, but I always keep Shaders and Shadows on low,off respectively. My laptop runs all the other games well, but ToR is a pain in the A. And it's no "Witcher 2", is it? It's a game with mediocre unoptimized graphic engine which is pretty much a joke for a game that costed so much money. Anyway... I've already been told that my CPU is the issue for ToR, but I don't think I am going to upgrade it JUST for ToR when I can run other games just fine. i5 M430 - 2.27GHz Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5870 8 Gig of RAM Couldn't Bioware just reduce the CPU load of this game? Of course they could, but whatever. The fact that they chose one of the worst Graphic Engines for one of the most expensive games in history is pretty much a joke to me.
  6. Sorry, but I do not understand any acronym in here. Care to explain what is: SOE NGE JTL CU
  7. I personally like Sabotage Probes, although they have a long lock on time compared to their small targeting range and very often people just dodge my locking. Proton torpedoes on the other hand are absolutely amazing. Yes, they do take a lot of time to lock on, but when they do... it's fun watching it fly. The secondary I hate the most? Rocket Pods (or whatever). I still don't really know how to use them properly since they don't have the same flight time as a blaster, therefore I can only hit an enemy while he's flying straight into me. They are useful against turrets though. IF anybody has any tips on the Rocket Pods, please give them here.
  8. So you agree. And once again, one battle happens on a planet, which has poles, up and down, and it would be nice to know where we are. I'd love to know whether the satellite is above me, below me, on the right of left side. It sometimes takes too long to go to the right one. The NPC ships, as well as satellites have already got an assumed bearing. When you start the battle the support ship is facing an informal "up", which is the same as the satellites. So the developers do have an up and down, but they just didn't put it in the interface because of lack of competence and lack of motivation.
  9. Sigh. I want to orient myself to the satellites. Satellites do have up and down, and I want to know which way I am going when I am turning. Sure, it's ok and it's managable, but why the hell are you dismissing a simple bearing UI? Why? Why on earth would you say it wouldn't be helpful? It's bad enough that the camera is so bad that you can't really properly look around you when you're manouvering and if you take a fast turn after somebody you can end up smashing into a rock. Of course - that's easy to avoid, but we're playing in a world that has all the advanced technology, and we can't even find out where the up and down is while we're flying on a planet? Space, I can understand, but planets do have poles, and they do have gravity. I'd like to know where the gravity is pulling me.
  10. See, because the satellites are pointing into a specific direction then I assume that Bioware already assumed where up and down is. I just think that the interface is a bit dumb and very lazy, with not much thought put into it. Even when we look at the directional shield - it's not very user friendly and you have to swap between different settings instead of choosing one immediately. Not to mention the fact that the ships do such slow barrel rolls. But that's another story. I would really like some indication of where up and down is. Yes, I can do it myself, but it's a waste of precious time.
  11. But it does not save my life. Especially during the battle on the planet. Sometimes when I go to point B and capture it, I want to go to another point, but there aren't many ways of getting out of that "pit" and I usually go above the rock formations. The bad thing is that when I do that, I sometimes go into the wrong "sky", since the bottom is also kinda blu-ish and I sometimes rush towards it just to get damaged/destroyed because the proper sky was on the other side.
  12. Could you please add a compass and an indicator where "up/down" is? I can't believe that it's not implemented. I can somehow understand that in space there's no up or down, but even Eve has it, even if it's kinda informal. We're in a ship, and anything that moves in 3 dimensions needs something to tell you which way you are going. Am I currently upside down? Hell knows, I have to look at the satellites to figure it out.
  13. The fact is, if this game wasn't Star Wars, it would be absolutely deserted right now. The only thing that makes most people stay in it is because it has lightsabers and is placed in one of the most epic universes ever created. And that's it. It's very far from being finished. I re subbed after 1,5 years and I have to say that there's barely anything added or changed. And even less things are fixed, I still see some ridiculous bugs that I saw at launch, and I cannot possibly take the developers seriously - it is obvious to me that they gave up and they are just trying to keep the game breathing, but not really trying to make it great.
  14. It's not better. Neither is Radeon. I even did a presentation on this a week ago. They're always competing but there's no decisive winner. I am not a millionaire, I am a student that can't dish out hundreds just to upgrade my PC to play one game. AMD is just fine. Not for this game though.
  15. Since you already checked the benchmark. Would you recommend another i5 that fits the same socket ( PGA988) and would improve the performance of the game? Nothing too expensive. 100 pounds maximum.
  16. I never said they were dumb. I only said that dismissing the fact that the same problems after a 1,5 is dumb.
  17. About the graphic issue again. I have a question to anybody that dismisses the fps problems: Illum? A nasa machine couldn't run it properly. Do not tell me that it's not the developers fault to optimize it so badly that it couldn't run smoothly with about 20 players in one place. And once again - Why does my machine run the game better on High settings and Low settings actually give me less FPS? So what you are saying is that it's the playerbase fault that they left? When is the best time to establish a stable guild when it just launched? So you are saying that millions of people that left are wrong and they are to blame. Game did nothing wrong, yes? But it did, didn't it? Do you remember when Developers were answering some questions and somebody asked "Why are you copying so much from WoW?" "Because we want to follow a safer path". So they were conscious when they decided to make it a bit of a WoW clone. It was their fault that it lacked 50% of what WoW has. I know WoW had a lot more time to develop, and that is why launching an unfinished and broken in some parts ToR was a bad idea. They only made it different with 1 thing - story. And story ends, like a movie or a book. You can re-read the book if it's good but ToR's story isn't that great and nobody wants to listen to the audio of every side quest on 4 alts. It's boring the second time already. And it kinda brings me to one important thing: Why is it acceptable these days to release a broken product? Why is it ok ? Why do people defend this broken product saying "IT will change in time, it was just released". When did this become ok? It is still not ok. why are you guys accepting something that is broken and even DEFENDING the fact that it is broken, saying that it isn't.
  18. Funny thing is, I am also doing Electrical Engineering - second year at Uni Anyway. No. What you are saying is, the heat is used to cut the performance of the system - yes, but only if the system slows down on it's own by being too hot and trying to underclock the components to cool it down. This is not the case here. My GPU doesn't need to de-clock itself to save itself from overheating. In fact, I am running a steady 80 degrees in Warzones right now, as opposed to 95 which it can handle. And my PC never declocks itself to compensate. Why? Because it's not set up this way (although I wish it was). Anyway. Why are we going into such stupid things as temperature? It's always going to me a minor improvement. Do you think I didn't clean it during my ToR history? Many, many times. And yes, I would also very often play with the temperatures and see absolutely NO improvement when it was low. That is right - Absolutely 0, null, nada, no improvement while my GPU was colder, and no improvements while it was hotter. Zero. Why are we even talking about this? If a PC overheats and shuts down, yes - that's an issue. But it will not drop 20 FPS because of temperature, don't be silly, please.
  19. It was the same during launch. People would pretend it does not exist. But now it's worse because most people gave up fighting with the community (army of people defending this product), and just left. I've been checking the forums and it seems like the "fanboys" have won, because nobody speaks a bad word about the game anymore. And only a few minutes online told me that there's still a ton of stuff to fix. don't get me wrong - I honestly want this game to succeed, turn around and do something amazing. I just don't think it is in capable hands, unfortunately, and that makes me very, very sad. It doesn't even have a community that would push it to the next level, the community wants it to be in the exact same spot - that's the feeling I get. Now I agree that I lost my temper too fast. It's mostly due to deadlines at the University and the fact that I hate flying and I have to catch a plane today. I am a bit shaky on the inside, and it's really easy to annoy me So sorry for losing my temper like this. And... Mallorik. Thanks for this post. It's a short one, but it makes me believe that humanity isn't lost just yet (although it is very close).
  20. I understand and you have a fair point. I know that my CPU isn't the strongest. Specs: Radeon HD 5870 Mobility i5 M 430 8 Gig of ram Rest doesn't matter - it's decent. I was thinking about upgrading my CPU, but I am low on cash and it's always been a low priority issue since other games run fine. I've dome some comparing during my early days of ToR though, I would take people with similar machines and find out that their FPS is much better, and it was usually due to the fact that they weren't using an AMD GPU. There was some issue with it, and the Devs of ToR said that they're washing their hands and that we should wait for AMD to provide us with proper drivers and that they already told AMD about this. So we waited, but nothing has changed both from AMD and ToR, which sucks, unfortunately.
  21. Sorry, but I have a felling that you do not know how computers work. I lower my performance due to heating? Heat is a bi-product of components having a lot of load on them. It's not the other way around. Do you think I put an ice cube into my machine to make it run faster? And when the temperature reaches critical the system runs slower? No. It can crash, and even if the heat affects the speed of it, it's so small that nobody will ever notice. I already told you that heat is not an issue. Overclocking the GPU does not help with the performance of the game - regardles of the heat. My GPU doesn't overheat because ToR isn't using more than 40% of it's power. If it used 100% like it used while I was idle on a planet / fleet, then yes - it would run hot and even shut down. The system runs the way it should, heat is just a product of it running very fast. "Because the majority hasn't got the problem there is no problem". That is why this game lost most of their subs. There are thousands of people that never complain or ask for something better than say that there are no problems. Back during beta and early launch there were tens of thousands of people posting here on the forum on what needs to be improved, and there was another group of people like I see here that was simply trying to shut these people up for no reason claiming that they do not have a problem and we are in a minority. There were tons of articles about ToR and FPS issues, how it can't use the GPU, and CPU power, how it handles on AMD (which is not crap, by the way). Bioware Devs did eventually say "We understand, there are FPS problems" in 2012 and that's it! Nothing was improved. Do you hear me? The DEVELOPERS acknowledged the FPS problem. I am not here to convince you. If you haven't got these issues - good for you, I envy you. I am not going to buy a brand new machine just to run ToR if my PC can handle any new game that was released to date except this one. Would that be logical? Why is it that this Graphic Engine cannot be optimized? Anyway, I turned it into a big rant, I shouldn't have. I guess it would be better if you guys didn't jump on me claiming that your game is 100% perfect. And if you read this far, read this too - I like ToR in a way, it has some nice things, that's why I came back. I didn't sub just to whine about it. I will play it, but not hardcore, because it's not meant for hardcore players, I think.
  22. As if I haven't tried doing it the nice way. It's clear that I can even give candies away and I'll get the same dumb responses over and over again, and I have no more patience for wastes of space.
  23. I tried old DirectX. I tried reverting the drivers, I tried new ones, old ones, beta. Everything. High performanec power plan? Yes, I do have a thing called "Gaming mode" which makes everything much faster. PSU - This is a gaming laptop, and the PSU is more than enough. Game companies screw their games up so people can't run them, and they should optimize it. This is not The Witcher 2 and yet it runs like The Witcher 2 on ultra settings. No? Still going to dismiss it? Now explain this to me - When I was in raids, I used to overclock my GPU just for this game. I would sometimes overclock it by 20% if I was really angry at the fps. Now he's the kicker - the game usually used about 30%-40% of my GPU power during raids. Whenever I'd overclock it it would use... not the same amount of GPU power, not more, but LESS gpu power, so by giving it 20% more juice it would drop the GPU usage to 20-35%. Temperatures? They would skyrocket on the fleet, and they were managable during raids, although not always. The temperature issue seems to be fairly ok these days, so they must have patched something. But my GPU is still barely used by the game, most of the time. There were times when the GPU usage would reach 100% when I was standing still on my ship/planet and so on, but not during the raids when the GPU usage was crucial. The game is simply not optimized to use all the resources it gets. I'd get about 20% GPU used during Warzones too. Read what I said above. Maybe if you took a second to use your empty head you'd understand that my post was already long enough and I wasn't going to include a list of everything I think I want from the game by subscribing, yes? Have you forgotten the 55 level cap or perhaps 20 more features unavailable to f2p like... I don't know, eskrow credits or transfering credits to alts? OR maybe the amount of characters I can have, or many more features? Jesus, why am I even trying to talk to this person. I will stop now, before I get an aneurysm.
  24. Aaaand, ignored. I do not need your useless comments here. You must have missed the part where I said "...and to fly with my spaceship". It's funny how this was in the same sentence and yet you completely missed it, claiming that I came back just for the story. I needed eskrow money, I needed unlimited space battles, I need more than 4 warzones a week (even though I rarely do them), I need to be able to wear epics, I need to be able to play the new space expansion, I want to be able to get to level 55, I want faster XP, I want to be able to use my mount faster, I want to have a more comfortable gameplay. And finally, I thought that it would be a show of good faith to subscribe. Also the fact that I can whine on the forums now - that's absolutely the best. Should I go on? Idiot...
  25. Funny, since I never said such a thing. Maybe you should re-read the whole thing to understand? Where did I complain about subs and f2p? Please do not contribute to this thread anymore, since you clearly aren't able to. It's very funny actually. I expected this. Minor complain about something - the Devs don't even have to move their fingers. They have an army of you guys, protecting your most precious game that has never had any issues, that is so perfect that nobody can even attempt and say what is wrong with it because you will eat this person alive. Keep it going, your superior constructive criticism is absolutely helpful. It's because of fanboys like you guys this game hasn't changed, because all you do is pretend that nothing's wrong and that nothing needs to be fixed. While people without blindfolds can see that there are a lot of issues. Do you seriously think that people that complain about this game want to hurt it? We bought it for a freaking reason! We wanted it to be the best MMO in the world. We still do. And we complain, because something is very wrong. Why do you not understand that wanting something to improve is actually a good thing? You, as fanboys, should constantly ask for more!! Most of us tried to make threads about it during the beginning and even in beta when we saw that things were very bad and needed very urgent attention, but we had fanboys coming over and dismissing any issues. If you were a true fanboy you would HELP MAKE THE GAME BETTER, and therefore would also give constructive criticism to the game developers, push them to do something better, remind them what is wrong with the game. But no.. "hey, I am having fps issues, my friends with worse machines do not". Fanboy - "check your ISP, it's also your machine, you suck, not the game" "But many people with better machines than mine also have this problem" fanboy - "yeah? Maybe they're just lying about their specs? Liars, all of them" "But listen, this game is really bad for AMD users" fanboy - "shut up already!! I do not want you talking bad about the most precious thing in the world. My... preciousssss" "Listen guys, I've asked the support, but they won't help me. Maybe if you could let people with issues talk in this thread instead of trolling us?" fanboy - "No, we must protect it. We do not have issues, therefore YOU do not have issues! No need to bother holy support, we will silence you. You must not ask for improved graphic engine. It's your machine! Spend 1000 dollars on a new one. Yes, spend it so you can play just THIS game. Even if other games run smooth on your machine, it still sucks since ToR is superior in every way". "ok, how about ability delay?" fanboy - "sdadsah, it was... there, but it's not an issue!!! Wait for a fix and be quiet!!" "Ok, I waited 1,5 years, issue is still there" fanboy "It's barely noticable!! be quiet". "Hm... I feel kinda bored, maybe if they changed the planet layouts a little, changed a few things around" fanboy - "no! Nothing can be changed, how dare you speak of this game this way? Leave it! We do not want you !!" Fanboys a year later... "hm... it's kinda empty here, what's with all the server merges? Maybe all these people that we told to leave actually left and it hurts OUR gameplay now? Naaaah... game is absolutely perfect".
