  1. Dude...1 50...that's all that's required for this promotion. It's been 4 months. I'm in no way hardcore...I very much consider myself to be a casual player...but I've leveled 2 50's in that time and yes I am an altoholic (14 characters across 3 servers). In this game that is not "fast".
  2. Yes, certifiably so...can we have some more slots now?
  3. More slots please...don't care how...unlocks in legacy system...micro-transactions...doesn't matter. I've filled my slots on my primary server...and I have 4 republics on another server where my guild isn't nearly as active..so I'd much rather reroll my republics on my primary server where I play all my imps. I see no reason for me to buy a second account to do this...I don't want to play multiple characters at the same time in this game since I have my companions. I have 2 accounts in Guild Wars that each started at 4 character slots each...through various campaigns/expansions and the option to buy additional character slots both of those accounts are up to at least 15 characters each. I do, however, find it useful to have two accounts running at one time in that game. In City of Heroes I have like 30 characters across 3 servers...again because I added character slots. Only have 1 account there. I can easily see myself using up 16 slots eventually...and probably more than that for various reasons.
  4. I don't know about Qouivandes, but I went through typing classes in grade school...so I learned to type without looking and all that (for our tests they covered our hands with towels)...using the home row (asdf jkl;). So it's very easy for me to use the keys around the home row keys. I think it is more efficient (I could be wrong, I'm no expert) since I don't have to switch a finger to a different button to go backwards or forwards. edit: why waste time on backwards? well sometimes you need it...and since I play a healer most of the time, it's important I make sure I'm still able to hit my healing targets with rapid shots. Better to have a backwards button than force yourself to turn around and run forward...especially when there's that annoying mouse movement glitch that sends the cursor off in a random direction. The less I have to move by mouse the better. I initially tried WASD...but just couldn't get used to it...so I reverted back to the home row and never looked back.
  5. Only other person I've ever seen use the home row like me in all my time playing games. Just seems more natural to use this setup. I use F1-F12 for my secondary hotbar...my G700 mouse for my most used 3rd hotbar skills...the exttra function keys on the left on my G110 keyboard for the rest of the hotbar skills. also have a G13, but I rarely use it in games.
  6. This x10...emphasis added I've only had one time for about 15 minutes where I felt the need to kill enemies to level up...and that was because I was having a little difficulty beating a quest boss at a level below them. I didn't feel like going to finish bonus quests that were still in my log at the time (felt too lazy to switch planets since I was so close to leveling).
  7. I have no subscription...so no I will not keep it up. I will however continue to buy game time cards. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far, and my guild is only scratching the surface of end game content right now.
  8. rofl...I initially had problems with that bastard on my sorcerer...but then I realized that I was a level lower than him. Went back and did the Hoth bonus series to level up...then went back and beat him at even level. You don't need more than you and your companion to beat him, if you do, you did something wrong along the way. And there is a LFG tool...despite all the deniers...it's just a poor man's LFG tool that needs to be improved drastically.
  9. Please add to the password reset system an email that notifies the account holder that their account password has been changed. Many services (including EA.com) do this and it is a security feature. If the password gets changed you are notified, if you didn't do it, you know your account got hacked and you can take appropriate action to protect your account. As is...you won't know if your password was changed until you try to login to the site or the game...and that could be several hours (or days for some) after the password was changed. Someone has been trying to get into my account and locking it out...they can't login because they don't have my security key. I only noticed this because twice this week I have not been able to login and had to do a password reset. I called up Customer Service this morning to see if any password resets besides the ones that I did had been performed...but the CS rep doesn't have that information...so there's really no way I can tell if my password has been changed or my account simply got locked out. This feature would allow me to know that my password got changed almost immediately (since I check my email regularly)...or in my case, that my login troubles were due to someone trying to get into my account, and that I have nothing to worry about regarding my password being changed. TLDR: Add a Password Reset Confirmation Email to let us know when our account password has been changed.
  10. This really sums it up for me...they wanted WoW market share. They tried to turn it from a nice little sandbox game into a themepark. 30+ classes (can't remember the exact number right now) was cut down to 9 classes, completely eliminating some classes, including my main's, Creature Handler (later they tried to reintroduce it, but I had already left). I had 3 accounts with all the expansions...including the last one that was released just prior to them announcing the NGE. I cancelled all three about a week after they introduced the NGE. I gave it a try, but I hated what it had become. I never knew what Pre-CU was like, but I loved what the CU was. It was the first MMO that I really saw myself sticking around for years with. I chalk up the reason they did this was because of the above, and that they listened to focus groups rather than their community. The community was blindsided by it.
  11. All I hear about while playing empire is those dirty filthy aliens the Republic likes recruiting...or how I'm so special because I'm an alien in the Sith ranks. So if anything it should be exactly the opposite. Empire is exclusive, Republic is inclusive. More correct, Empire, half the classes on the Empire side do not identify themselves as Sith. I'm a Bounty Hunter on my main and I'm as independent as you can get...I go where the money is. The Empire are evil bastards though, so they like offing more people...so I side with the Empire.
  12. As people have said...tell them to f off...you're paying...you deserve to see story as much as they deserve to rush through content and play it multiple times over for social points or gear or whatever. Either you'll get kicked or they'll just drop from group...better to find people who also want to experience the story. Best way to experience it is with guildies...some of them have seen it multiple times though and tell me to spacebar through...and they get the same treatment. It's always said in jest though...we're casual players..and we like the story. Just last night I was in mumble while our group of 50's was starting their run through False Emperor Hard Mode. They hadn't seen the story and told me to shut the hell up in mumble. I told them to switch to the damn Flashpoint room and get out of the general chatroom. They promptly moved With guildies (of course this depends on your guild) it's usually a much different environment...and you can get away with saying stuff like "screw you I want to hear the story".
  13. In real life yes...but this isn't real life. I play games for escapism. I can't be an evil bastard in real life so I do it in the game...just to have fun. I don't want to be a goody two shoes in game...because I'm normally a good guy in real life.
  14. Aww damn...I'm going to have to give this a try. Using this: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/monitors/LS27A750DS/ZA I've tried it on a few games and my results are mixed so far...
  15. This. note: the below is from the perspective of me playing as a BH. So Imp. The Rakata transport system is actually two systems. The main one you discover when you first play through the planet...and the secondary one specifically built for level 50's running dailies. That is the only purpose for the second set of Rakata transporters. And if you're running into champion level 50's of the opposite faction you're doing it wrong. You're going in the wrong direction. They make it pretty friggin obvious below 50 where you should and should not go by placing level 50 champion mobs to prevent you from going in areas designed for the opposite faction only. It's also easy to tell when an area is specifically designed for your faction to fight in....you'll see a bunch of mobs in and around your level from the opposite faction. Belsavis is laid out fine....I've been all over it and have discovered the entire map. There are obvious areas where Imperial players aren't supposed to go...and there are obvious areas where they are supposed to go...same for Republic. I would've thought you would have learned this by the time you get to Belsavis. Those level 50 champion mobs are like a big sign saying "DANGER MINEFIELD DO NOT ENTER"....if you enter...well, I hope you like repairing your gear. Now there are also areas on this planet that are specifically designed for level 50's...for imps this starts in the lower left corner of the map near the domination outpost. I ran into this after seeing the taxi node was undiscovered on my map. When I started venturing there I realized that I was surrounded by level 50 mobs...so I was clearly venturing into a special area for level 50's. I still carefully made my way to the outpost avoiding mobs, but I didn't stick around because I was still a bit lower in level. You just gotta use your brain people. They make it clear where you are and are not supposed to go. There's only one instance that I know of where it's not exactly clear and that was intentional...that being the Voss outpost on Voss which is shared between Imps and Pubs (not talking about Voss-Ka). For those following the story it was easy to understand why this was a shared outpost....those not following the story on the planet...would obviously have some trouble understanding that this was a neutral outpost and shared. On Corellia it's even more obvious. You venture into the wrong area and all you see is green mobs at your level. It's kind of weird...it's a warzone, so you'd figure there would be a clear battle line...which imps on the imp side and pubs on the pub side....but it's just the opposite...because the pubs are the guys the imps need to fight...they are on the imp side. When you cross over to the pub questing side it's very obvious...nothing but Imperials dot the landscape unless you run into a pub outpost.
  16. or less. or less often (like 1-3 hours every 3 days or every week) It has nothing to do with skill level.
  17. Cipher Agent Lurch and yes he's Rattataki
  18. My normal name "Thor" is also on the list of banned names...which I find annoying that they rule out norse mythology (uh hello...Marvel wasn't exaclty original in their comic book....)...not the first time I've run into it in an MMO though.
  19. NO...that is one of the only things that entices people to get a security key (for those who aren't security conscious like me)...which is a good thing for preventing hacks to your account. Most of the stuff on there isn't worth a damn. That is exactly why it is on the vendor. Bioware wants you to increase the security of your account by getting a security key. (the cost of the physical key is minimal, and the apps for iOS and Android are free)
  20. Nar Shaddaa is the first place you can run into the opposite faction. The promenade is shared by both sides but is a Sanctuary (this is where the cross-faction GTN is). The majority of the questing areas for each side is off limits and inaccessible to the other side. The Industrial Area is the only area that let's the two sides merge. If you look at the map you'll see two different zones in each region of the planet...they correspond to the Empire and Republic zones and they are never connected. The only area that doesn't have that is the Industrial area...that's where the bonus series quests will take you...into the shared questing area and your first possibility for PvP if you go there before you reach Tatooine. Since those are higher level areas (level 30) you're really not supposed to go there though (as in, you usually don't get to 30 or near it before you leave)...so Tatooine is the first real pvp planet.
  21. As an Empire player you're given quests to both Balmorra and Nar Shaddaa when you leave Dromund Kaas...though the Nar Shaddaa quest is much higher level. For Republic players it's Taris and Nar Shaddaa...and the same thing applies, Nar Shaddaa is much higher level. The other paired planets are Tatooine and Alderaan after you get done with Nar Shaddaa. There might be some differences with certain class stories but this is how the general pattern of all the planets is: Starting Planets up to your side's home planet (Dromund Kaas for Imps, Coruscant for Pubs) Balmorra then Nar Shaddaa for Imps, Taris then Nar Shaddaa for Pubs Tatooine then Alderaan Taris for Imps, Balmorra for Pubs Quesh (for like 1 class quest) Hoth Belsavis Voss Corellia Ilum On Tatooine the only areas not accessible by the other side is the starting city and area immediately around it, Mos Ila for Imps, Anchorhead for Pubs.
  22. Balmorra? No, you're probably thinking Belsavis Balmorra and Taris separate the Empire and Republic players as Empire gets to Balmorra right after Dromund Kaas (mid-to-late teens) and get to Taris right after Alderaan (early 30's). Republic does just the opposite. So letting PvP happen would only cause a lot of ganking on those planets. I wrote up a little guide on PvP Possibilities....though it's from my perspective...I play on a PvP server but I'm not gung-ho about PvP. I will PvP, but I haven't touched Warzones or Ilum PvP yet. http://www.thunder-god.net/2012/02/09/swtor-open-world-pvp-possibilities/
  23. The only reason to get high level orange pieces is for the augment slots...or for the specific look of the end game gear. Right now I'm upgrading the orange armor I've been using since Taris (Prototype Mercenary Elite). The guns I have are two of the orange pistols you get from the Black Talon at around 10. I'm sure I'll be upgrading once I get into HM FP's and Operations, but for now this is what I'm using. That's the whole point to orange gear...unless you'd rather have a different look you just upgrade the components of the armor or gun rather than replacing it entirely.
  24. If I remember correctly the Rakghoul plague applies 1% hp reduction and stacks up to 5 times. So up to a 5% hp reduction.
