  1. My main and only spec I use is the Gunnery tree. Im not sure what others think of the spec. I can only assuming they approve of it since its the most common and never once heard of a problem with it. I see the tree as a very well rounded spec over all. I enjoy the proc that it provides but I could deal with a couple tweaks. I love the damage it can provide and the decent survivability it has. I have gone into PVP sometimes and been able to take on 6 people and able to live till help came while doing good DPS.
  2. I main spec as Kinetic Combat (tank) I believe people think that shadow tank is weaker and trust a vanguard over and guardian and then shadow. That will probably be due to the fact that we have "light armor" and most shadows tent to be dps in my experience. I see very few of them in game in general at all. From my experience as playing a shadow tank, I really enjoy playing it. It comes with great damage as solo, the threat it generates is good in my opinion. Like I posted on the sage side, i enjoy all the procs that they class comes with. I don't find them a way to increase my damage or tanking ability but I feel it gives the game and every encounter a lot of randomness and complete uniqueness. I have also dabbled in the infiltration spec of my shadow a little bit. I find it equally as much fun as tanking with all the procs it provide. I wasnt too impressed with the damage it provided but I was still using my tanking gear. But overall I find the entire class setup entertaining, maybe a little lacking in damage but that could have been due to my gear.
  3. My original spec was full healer. I enjoyed it before it got tweaked but still enjoy healing with all the procs it has. I was constantly asked to be a healer for various reasons so I'm assuming people perceived it as a good build. My alternate build is full telekinetic. I've only ran out of guild as dps a few times but I've always been given great feed back and constant invites to join guilds even though I was in one. I was constantly getting comments about how well i performed as ranged dps and also at my AOE. My feedback on both specs is I enjoy doing both. One of my most enjoyable aspects of Sage is the ability to have procs. I'm not talking specifically about burst healing or burst damage, but the entire concept of the random encounters is a lot of fun and adds a lot entertainment to every encounter making it unpredictable in a good way.
  4. I just have to bump this for fun! But i am glad someone finally posted some tips on this feature. I keep forgetting to do something like this myself. But I have created and filled prolly atleast a dozen groups using this feature for flashpoints. Even if people arent flagged i still use it by searching a level range and then categorizing it by AC. Since so few people actually flag themselves on my server, i just start searching for either tank or healer first and copy a generic request for this help and then start going down the list. I have never once had anyone complain to me about messaging them for help, hell even last night i got a message from another planet for help doing a world boss.
  5. I personally think it would a neat addition to have, not necessary but just fun to fool around with. I wouldnt use to be a number puncher but just to entertain myself more and experiment with skills bit more. I really dont see disadvantage of having one available.
  6. My main toon has been a healer. I havnt had any trouble with healing a group wit the except of the group being complete idiots or my heals just being strong enough due to gear. The UI setup for targeting is just fine with the combination of fkeys and hot bars. If you cant figure out how to use the fkeys and hot bars to target and activate skills you really should take typing classes because i can use hot keys twice as fast as clicking a skill, plus less change of dragging a skill off the bar.
  7. Thanks alot, that actually really opens up my ideas on how i want to play
  8. So im mostly new the jedi Sentinel class, only lvl 20. I tried to look into the skills trees a bit in depth since i didnt know much about the skill it really didnt sink that far in. My main question is what are the main roles appointed to each skill tree. Im not asking on which one i should play if i wana be top dps or best pvp build. All i want is an overview of the skill trees with a few pros and cons of each one. Please try to keep it constructive with no flaming, thanks.
  9. I dont think they should make 1 faction, atleast remove the faction restrictions that are in place. That way people can play both sides and still get help from their other toons, it would increase the market alot.
  10. Since you seem to have figured out the removing the executable skills, ill give some tips about the actual combat. Some thing that might help is to have the shadow do his knock back skill, forget name, and then stun him. I tended to play solo, but in doing so id always send qyzen after the stronger, with few exceptions, and id send out my dots on the lower mobs. As far as him staying on targets, since bioware did such a good job on their AI for companions, they tend to know if they need to stay on targets based on the last few secondsof combat dealt to the target. Ive had my companions change target during one of my casts because it was evident that the next attack was a killing blow.
  11. Thanks for all the replies, will give me some work to play with. How ever i wont get ride of concentration ive had that stand between my group loose a boss fight and win. Ill definitely tweak my skills come sunday when i get my free respec.
  12. So i just recently hit 50 and went back to being a healer after a week of being dps. I was doing the final missions on Corellia and managed to beat my final boss without guild aid. But while during the fight i noticed my healing action cost seemed to be alot higher then it was while I lvling and running flash points. I have almost all the skill in the healing tree with the exception of 2 for the will power, and 11 points in TK to get the TK wave. I have put points in the TK tree to reduce healing and force costs, increase my force armor, and each time i use disturbance increase force regen. But from what i experienced last night my force was draining alot faster then what it seemed like it used to. I was wondering is there something im missing somewhere as far as the action pool? Ive put all the pointed needed towards reducing the action drain. Not sure if there was some tweak somewhere in a patch. Any light on this would be much appreciated.
  13. I just recently starting playing as a DPS sage and i must say its outstanding. I didnt spec high into one tree but mixed between all 3 and im a beast on aoe damage. When im able to get all my combat buffs to activate i am generally draw aggro off well tanks in about 3-4 seconds. Sages can have some high end dps in pvp or in pve. They just have to spec the right way and get alot of instant cast buffs
  14. Im kinda in a toss up about this, i think it would be nice to have the saber stay on the belt, but when you're deflecting bolts you do kinda need it out
  15. If the tank is the least most competent i wouldnt worry about drawing aggro off him by crit healing. Especially when you can reduce your threat gen through buffs/skills. Also the more you crit on heals the safer the group is, the less force you have to use to keep the group up. I just hit lvl 50 yesterday and my crit stats are around 25% with a multipler of around 76%, so when i do crit on my heal its damn near 75% of the base heal amount.
  16. The skill that causes the skills to crit are actually only used on direct heals like deliverance or benevolence. It wont work on the healing trance skill because its a channeled skill. I was curious about that myself so i was sitting on the fleet and was popping off heals and seeing if they would work with it.
  17. Does doing this inhibit your playing? Does it cause you to lvl slower? I really dont see how this could possible affect you negatively. Just let them act stupid in a game that doesnt affect your real life.
  18. Actually i have noticed that as well. I figured it was just some zone event happening like clouds flying over, except a couple times i was in a building so no clouds. My only guess, and thats all it is, is that because of the choice we made some content in the conversation is now locked out. But that was all simply a guess.
  19. You can max out the affection of all companions except your annoying protocol droid. The companion quests you get are unlocked from increasing their affection. You can romance a companion you keep on the ship all day even though you keep a different one out all the time while questing.
  20. If you had actually looked on the site and at the news they are releasing you would have seen that that feature as well as UI customization is in the works. So sit back, play and game and be a patient little boy. All good things come to those who wait.
  21. Have any of you ever noticed there is a HUGE difference between the two besides the fact one has a travel time and one doesnt? Shock actually takes longer to reset then project. I have both classes and the sage project is able to fire off faster then the sorcerer shock. So in the total rotation and reset of the skills ability to re-fire are the same.
  22. The best way to group up crew skills is to read the codex under the codex tab of your journal. Every crafting skill requires a gathering skill and missions skill. The gathering will give you the bulk of the mats needed, and the mission skill will give companion gifts and then rare blue and purple mats to make the better of the schems.
  23. The way the crew skills works is its intended for you to pick one crafting skill, and then pack a gathering and missions skill to get the resources. In your codex under your journal window it explains whats needed to make the craft skill work. You can pick any crafting you want, its just recommenced that you pick one related to your profession. As for unlearning skills, you cannot unlearn an advanced class. Crew skills can be unlearned by hitting the X in the crew window (N). You skill tree (K) skills can be unlearned after commitment by talking to skill mentors, which are not listed on the maps but are near the trainers is some planets. I wouldnt worry about buying pvp gear unless thats all you want to do is pvp. And to do pvp matches there is a little icon near your mini map, just click on that and queue up. Dont worry about buying gear with the exception of mods to drop into your gear until you understand your class a bit more and what stats are needed to make you the best.
  24. I play on the Republic side as a sage. I am main spec healer with group support of AOE. I find sage healing es effective best when healing single targets. It is very force demanding and in lower lvls and keep you drained on most boss fights if group isnt geared to their lvl. I have found all their abilities to do quick heals and fast saves to come in very handy, such as the shield, hot heal to reduce action cost or casting time, or even the buff that forces you to crit on heals. If you are smart while playing sage healer you can do dmg to increase your force regen rate allowing you heal for longer. I have ran out of force quickly healing the whole group due to aoe fights. Unfortunately i was unable to keep everyone up for the whole fight but we did get down to the back up tank and i was able do my damage skill that make my force and while the buff is counting down i was able to pop off the heals required. Now i cant compare sage to the other heals personally, but i have seen scoundrel do decent heals, but they tend to focus on healing more then a sage would be doing. That could be because they cant burst the heals as well as a sage or thats just how they always tend to be playing.
  25. I completely agree on the light/dark side affection more then simply physical appearance of your toon. If i could be my sage and shoot lightning, i would delete my inquisitor in half a heart beat. Sure the story was alot of fun back in beta when i played my inquisitor alot, now i just cant stay on for more then 30 minutes because playing as the empire is boring for me. Im kinda in a toss up about the weapon specialization though, i would love to use a staff saber as my sage, but that gets ride of alot of reason for AC and picking it to play that weapon. If you got a guardian who could dual wield, sentinels would become pointless. Or even Vangaurd using assault cannons. The only way i could see this being useful is if you picked an AC that got a passive bonus from using that type of weapon.
