  1. Yes, I fear Ops and Assassins. I play a healer Sage, and I generally stand in the back, meaning I am somewhat isolated from teammates so that I draw less attention to myself. However, if an Op finds me, I am usually in trouble, since they will hunt me every time I spawn. The Sage's self healing is only good if they can sit still, which isn't always the best idea against Ops.
  2. Star Trek Online, anyone? This was how you traveled between systems in STO. Fortunately, they have remote quest contacts, so you actually never have to talk to anyone that isn't dialog for a quest. I wish that was in this game for the PvP and Ilum dailies...but that's another thread. I would like to be able to fly around Republic Fleet, but at the same time, I would much rather have better content and bug fixes for the time being. Perhaps in a year, this could be viable. But it's too early in the game's lifetime to ask for something this huge, especially on the scale for which you are looking.
  3. Because the Sorc/Sage has a 15 second, instant cast, no cooldown DoT that can be speced to last 21 seconds. Not to mention that only 3 classes can get rid of this DoT: Sorc/Sage, Assassin/Shadow (1 min CD), and Scoundrel/Operative (1 min CD). A number of other classes have shorter-length DoTs (6-10 seconds), but that is easily enough time to grab a side speeder and fly down to the side points on Alderaan.
  4. 167: I'm the healer. Shouldn't I have a tank peeling for me or something? 168: I wonder which of my alts I should work on next...Commando? Nah. Marauder? Don't feel like it. Powertech or Guardian? Nope. What class is this guy? Maybe I should try that out... 169: Let's play "How many enemies will jump on me now that I am stunned?" I see 1, 2, 3, 4 *falls asleep, dreams about a resolve bar that actually works* 170: Maybe I should go back to Star Trek Online. At least when they had OP CC in space, they fixed it/gave it counters with cooldowns less than 2 minutes, not to mention that allies could help you out. Also, this thread just got mad moderated. Had 14 pages before, now only 4.
  5. It might be the non-healer aspect, or the Imps being bad I dunno, it seem to work a bit with me, and I really do think that because I was a healer who was visibly "under-geared," they figured that killing me would be easy and would save them a lot of trouble. I guess no one is as worried about a noob shadow as they are about a noob healer.
  6. Never mind. I'm an idiot who asks for help without investigating all alternatives. I went into the launcher options and changed the language, agreed to the various texts, and let it patch. We'll see if it works
  7. I study German as a second language. I was wondering if it is possible to play in another language (in this case, German) on a particular character, while still in English on my other characters. I checked the preferences, but I saw nothing in there, so I assume it can't be done from in-game. Which leads me to a second possibility: Install a second copy of the game (perhaps on another hard drive). I'm not an expert when it comes to how the computer recognizes installed software (aka the registry or whatever), but this sounds like it might work. This relies on the fact that I when I install, I can make sure I install in the right language (Setup should start with "choose a language," which I assume makes it so that the settings are for that language when playing or something). Thoughts? Has anyone tried this? Probably me just being silly, but I think it would help me if I immersed myself in the language, since I can't easily up and move to another country, and since I spend so much time on this game...
  8. I play a Healer Sage, and I had a heck of a time starting out with 50 PvP. It really is tough. There are things you can do, and some of the posts in this thread have great ideas that I wish I had read (I didn't even know that there were Ilum/Belsavis dailies until after about a week at 50). The grind is easier now with the system they implemented. I would recommend getting your Chest and Lightsaber (if applicable) first, because most experienced PvPers can see who has PvP gear and who doesn't, and the Chest and Lightsaber are the easiest to notice(I'm not sure about guns). I mean, if you have a Red lightsaber as a Jedi Sage, you clearly don't have PvP or PvE gear (which was very stupid of me). Also, get rid of any PvP title like "Skirmisher" or "Centurion," since those point you out very clearly as a newer PvPer and someone who isn't a BM (I mean, the gear might, but in a battle, the name is easier to read). You want to make your opponents think you are not a noob, even if you might be. Oh, and if you heal, try to rotate your build. As a Sage it is rather easy, since the stats I use for healing are the same as the ones I use for dps. The reason for this is that once you get targeted as a healer by someone on the other team, they will either jump you 24/7 or they will tell their friends to jump you. If you swap to dps, you make them feel as though they have won, while you get more medals, kill them, and still impact your team. Then, after some time, swap back, especially once you have more gear. By the way, the 300k healing isn't too hard with Centurion gear You just have to have a decent team and not get ganked by an Operative and Assassin every time you spawn (it has happened to me on Voidstar. Every respawn they just jumped me before I could get to the door).

    Couple of questions.

Echo what the above poster said. Ranked teams have not been implemented yet. It appears as though Patch 1.2 will include a Ranked system, along with streamlining of currencies for PvP gear. I'm not entirely sure on the details, but you can find the info in the Community Q&A from this week (and maybe last week) found in the Announcements at the top of the forum homepage. Also, not to hijack thread, but this is first time I have seen anyone on the forums from my server (Oghier)
  10. I dunno, on my server (Ven Zallow), there are still quite a few Rep PvPers. It might just be because all of the Imps decided to make alts, but it seems rather even, even on Ilum, which trades back and forth often.
  11. Force Lightning itself is not very strong. While for Madness Sorcs it is self-sustaining in terms of resource, you won't live long enough if your opponents get to you. Plus, you have a 2.5k AoE bomb that heals you quite well, plus 2 instant-cast DoTs that, when they crit, heal you (1 of which has a snare). Not to mention that you have to stand still, channel, and not get interrupted if you just use Lightning. It's a different story if you do a hybrid Madness-Lightning spec, however. I rather enjoyed my Balance Sage (Madness Sorc), but I really love my Deception Sin. I won't always win a 1v1, but if I don't, my vanish is on a 2 minute CD. And I use it every 2 minutes. When facing a coordinated team, it can be difficult, but against any team with a shred of un-coordination and you can run through everyone. It's a pretty good solo PvP class. Also, Assault Specialist Commando is pretty great. I think I would enjoy the Vanguard equivalent, but AS Commando is much better than Gunnery, since people are starting to figure out how to counter the Grav Round/Tracer Missile spam.
  12. Yeah, I really didn't want to kill her because she was a very interesting character, but I wanted the DS points. I proceeded to get my butt kicked 3 time by her, since I was on-level with her and using Ashara with my Deception Assassin. I haven't made that same mistake since then....
  13. It's T Canon: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darksaber_%28lightsaber%29 Also, it's C Canon: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dahgee and in The Force Unleashed, there is a black lightsaber you can get (not entirely canon, as Galen Marek uses an aqua-colored crystal canonically).
  14. Again, getting killed at the spawn, just like what happened on Ilum a month ago, is not doing anything other than making a PvP match PvE. When you can barely walk out of your spawn, it's not fun. Naturally it's not always fun when you lose, but at the same time, you can play your hardest and get something out of it. There was no playing here. I was robbed of a chance to do anything by game mechanics and a few jerks.
  15. I think they meant that if properly timed, you can essentially get a 6.5k bubble out of two 3.25k bubbles.
  16. Haha, nice. I don't think they got the core; they had already won by opening the last doors. I wonder if it was because if they let the time run out, they get credit for the win for the daily/weekly. I dunno, thought I read something like that somewhere here in the PvP forum. Even so, would have been nice to at least have gotten a fair fight (as fair as a fight between one very good team and one poor team can get...)
  17. It doesn't even give too many more medals. Maybe 1 or 2, if you don't already have 300k damage (75k for a healer) and 25 kills. It's not like the healer or the tank will get too much out of it, if they have been consistently dealing damage throughout the match (which, if that team was so strong, even the healers wouldn't be healing 24/7 like in a tough, close match) I decided not to requeue, partly because of this, and partly because I didn't get win credit twice. I did get a fun Huttball match though. 7 Counselors, 4 or 5 of us Sages. Rescue the tank shadow ball carrier ftw!
  18. First, it would be .20 Second, the entire equation would be multiplied by it if the tooltip for the skill is correct. Third, 4k assumes the expertise bonus is directly factored in, which means at least 10% (not sure how much of a bonus full BM gear gives). Not to mention that the Willpower, Power (possibly), and Expertise variables in the equation would be higher than what the person I quoted used.
  19. Don't forget the 20% every sage/sorc can get easily from the middle skill tree. From your numbers, that's another 554, for a total of 3322. Also, nor sure if the Expertise healing bonus is added in there. If so, then 4k is easily obtainable from a BM Sage/Sorc.
  20. Well, I know Bioware can't anticipate everything that happens in PvP, but in the Rules of Conduct, players "may not engage in any of the following behavior: 20. Do anything that interferes with the ability of other Service users to enjoy playing Star Wars: The Old Republic" I'm not sure if this would be considered in that, but Bioware reserves the right to interpret and apply this rule as needed. Yes, I actually did read the RoC
  21. 2 wins = more gear The daily and weekly rely on wins, correct? Unless of course they were all BM, which is possible.
  22. I know why they do it, but I feel as though that is unfair gameplay, especially as the game forces you to be killed.
  23. But are you camping their spawn, or are you just fighting like a deathmatch? A deathmatch I don't mind as much, but when you can't even land on the ground from the spawn because of the damage they do, is that fun?
  24. I was just in a Voidstar WZ where we got beat pretty bad (they got to the last door with 4 minutes left). I entered late and found my team getting dominated by Imps, nothing new. Voidstar matches seem to go either way, even Reps can dominate on my server (Ven Zallow). Anyway, they plant the bomb, plow up the last door, and just sit there. Then, they all pool outside our spawn. Our door opens, we rush out, only to find about 4-5 AoE abilities on our doorstep. We jump down, then get decimated by the sorcs, snipers, and mercs they have waiting, since everyone is at half health (not saying anything about balance, just what they had). Rinse and repeat every time the door opens. It wouldn't have been so infuriating if the melee classes didn't start jumping up to us and attacking us through the door. Not via AoE, but via targeted abilities (like an Annihilation Marauder attacking me with all of his DoTs and such). The worst part: nothing we could do. I don't mind getting beaten quickly; it happens from time to time. It's just that when this farming happens, it ruins the experience. I also know this happens in huttball, but at least there you can do something about it, such as knock enemies into the lower level (pit) so your team might be able to attack, but on Voidstar, it isn't possible. Don't have any suggestions on how to fix this at this time. Is this breaking the rules? Is the best solution to just report the players doing this? Thoughts?

    Why at level 50

In response to the first part, Legacy XP. While normal XP is pointless, you still must receive normal experience in order to get Legacy experience (I think it's like 20% or something) As for the second part, I have underlined what you requested. Third, please format your future posts when of this length, particularly when quoting another source. It makes it easier for the reader to follow.
