  1. And this right here is high on the list of things that finally made me cancel - the cheap and chintzy level of investment in this game. Get a costume designer (or heck, TEAM) and get some new looks flowing into the game. You KNOW how much the last cycle sucked in the court of public opinion. You should have be working this issue hard in the half a year since, not digging into your meager stocks of existing assets to populate your new cash shop. Free-to-play is not going to help your bottom line when the bosses are treating this MMO as free-to-prduce.
  2. And yet annother item for the "Soon" list. You guy know about a hundred serious faults and shortcommings in the game. Where's the coder manpower to get them fixed?
  3. Some good stuff, but ultimately a little only goes a little way. Glad to have the features. Its a weight on the possitive side of the scales when juding the value of re-subscribing. Unfortunately its a pittance weighed against the crushing lack of new activities and the continuing absence of features that have become commonplace to MMOs in the 5 year timewarp that slipped past the Devs between whiteboarding a WoW-killer and actually getting this beast to market. Keep at it - you've got a LOT of catching up to do.
  4. Appearantly because I'm a basement-dwelling trogdolite with a ludicrous number of hours played, I didn't have to change any names. A couple of my lowbie toons I thought were in serious jepardy. Who knew leaving you characters to be forcibly ejected by the AFK timer after calling it an evening would pay off so handily down the road?
  5. If you read the patch notes you'll find that Shadows/Assassins do NOT take 10 second off of the the new base of 20. They can with skill points take 5 seconds off (minimum cooldown of 15 seconds). A bit faster than before, but not as bas as you're thinking.
  6. *snicker* Do they not have Sentinels/Mauraders on your sever? I know there is much drooling over Combat spec (damn fine tank killers), but Watchman's 6 second interupt basically turns anything with a cast bar dependency into so much walking sashimi, and having Sage/Sorc's knock back restricted to a cone makes them that much easier to run down and butcher. 2/3rds of the angles of approach are now missing their best anti-melee bulwark.
  7. I'm trying to think what Ops bosses can be stunned.... Hmm. Ok, how about stunning Flash Point bosses... Yeah. The rest of the PvE content is a speed bump.
  8. Reading the patch notes and observing the stunning absence of cheering that such a quality of life improvment would produce I believe I can safely say~ No.
  9. Since me and my friend have 2-maned all the HM FP's except LI on a pair of sentinals (got to Project Savrak, just didnt' have enough time that night to get the perfect alignment of smokestack burns cause we totally were rockin' him on the ground phases), I'm ussually prepared to go out "on my own" from time to time... If I think it'll be funny to anhilate half a dozen mobs while waiting for a tank to put it in gear . I have a raid geared healer and tank too, so I know what you mean though. When you're a healer and people sincerely piss you off... accidents... happen ...
  10. I think you missed the critical difference. The word "forced". Last time around you could check which sever you were given the option to move to and see if your name was taken. Then you could decide to move or not, knowing that if it was taken, and you CHOSE to move you'd lose your name in the process. No one got a choice this time. Zero, zip. nada. Pack your bags and join the line of refugees.
  11. So... ...if you were up late to buy the game the minute digital pre-orders became available... ...if you took a day off from work to be there the minute the early access came online... ...if you secured your 8 desired names within minutes of the game starting... ...if you've been a continuous subscriber since the second Bioware would let you give them money... ...and then chose to work through your alts one at a time rather than all 8 simultaneously... ...while you know, holding down a full time job... ...You get to rename 6 out of 8 of your characters because the archetypical basement denizens put in more time played than you. Thanks Bioware - your concept of 'fairness' just blew my guildleader right off the game. He's paid the maximum amount possible into your coffers, been an ardent supporter of this game and organizer that held others interest in it long after the shiney wore off, and you used him as a doormat. Do you WANT this game to keel over in the minimum amount of time possible? 'Cause you're managing it right into the ground.
  12. How does being on the server first (which you're not, by the way - NO ONE is on their original server) in any universe give you pride of place over someone being forced to move?
  13. Come back when it's free to play. Play it for 4-6 weeks. Put it down again. Whether you choose to spend any money in their cash shop I think will depend entirely on info they have yet to release. I don't forsee you quitting any other game over it, just reducing your play time over there for a little while as you suck the last bits of marrow out of this game's snapped bones.
  14. The technology of the Star Wars: The Old Republic universe hasn't moved forward in thousands of years. The technology of the Star Wars: The Old Republic client hasn't moved forward since they first white-boarded their features list 5 years ago. Perfect symetry.
  15. Sombody was claiming the game wasn't living up to player-created hype. I'm just pointing out it wasn't exatly humble hyperbole the devs were throwing out there. Look at the thread topic: good game, piss poor management. I agree with that sentiment completely. You want to sit down and mindlessly throw aquarium gravel at a bad guy or force choke the stuffing out of some helpless bystander for 15-20 minutes once in a while, the game's bloody brilliant. Very entertaining system. If you want to invest some time in your character you end up fighting with a character creator that's barbaric, a costuming system that's a blight, a crafting panel that still auto-sorts by the single least important variable (and then secondary sorts alphabetically using a series of utterly non-sens adjectives), while facing a palette of end game activities that have been stagnant for months. Yes, I'm irked by the shortfall between hype and reality, because its a mystery how you pour 100+ million dollars into a project's launch, based on the most potent fictional brandname on the planet... and then castrate it's sustained developement so badly that we might have been better off with a browser game than a so called AAA MMO. It'll make a fine f2p game. Its a shame its not more.
  16. Funny, because the lead devs talked some monumental smack about f2p models pre-launch. Basically summed up as "This game is so good and has such deep pockets for development that we don't have to squeeze blood from a stone." The good old days when "We feel a premium, top shelf product can command a steady subscription fee". 'Course this was back when they'd say things like "8 people bashing on 1 mob isn't heroic" and "your light side/dark side choices will have real, lasting impact on your character." Credibility gap, just a wee bit. You can't run around claiming "We're better than that" and then about face and "so, oh, everyone is doing it, so its ok." At least not without salt-&-peppering up a nice heaping plate of crow. I think their exit polling for canceling subscribers was formulated in a way that's giving them bad data. I'm not quiting my subscription because $15 a month is too much. I have $15 a month to give - its bloody trivial. My problem is if you are going to charge me the price of a new game every 4 months, you had damn well better deliver a reasonable fraction of a new game worth of entertainment in that period. 5 raid boss in 5 months is a friken JOKE. Not a single new space mission since launch. What... 2 Flashpoints in that time? And then the death blow to my intetions to re-up my sub: a world event with not 1 word of new hero dialogue being recorded. If this is the much lauded "Bioware Storytelling", let me say, other people are doing it better every day. I have enough time to play out a few Imps and see how the other side lives in story arcs, but the devs need to do a LOT more than clean up shadows if they want to keep making my money off of what is basical a fun game play tool with a very limited body of activites.
  17. It is a step forward. It is not a step forward that is going to make me re-subscribe in and of itself, but it is a weight in the positive side of the balance pans as I decide what to do at the end of my next 3-month billing cycle. I look forward to seeing it and hope that it represents an affordable gain in realism on my rig when overall FPS is concerned. Marry these changes to more things to do in game (especially for non-raiders), a more modern suite of cosmetic features, and some general improvements in load speed and high traffic handling and maybe I'll hand over the next ~$45.
  18. I just want the title I earned: "Paladin of House Organa" The head of House Organa gave it to me, with witnesses and everything. I want to display it.
  19. Wow. That was agonizing. Did that guy just get his severance papers or something? I've seen more energy in 2-day-dead fish.
  20. This made me chuckle. (You missed that Sentinel/Maurader DoTs will now interupt on each tick...)
  21. The real question is 'how much are you willing to pay for them in the cash shop?', 'cause they ain't comming any other way...
  22. I feel like this needs to be added to the list of DOZENS of UI and immerison improvments that get a cute little post like this... then never materialize. How's that upgrade to the crafting menu going? Sick to death of having to switch it to level-based sorting before it's even remotely useful...
  23. I suppose that's consistent with having all your funding pulled.
  24. I'm still trying to figure out why Bioware, EA, and Sideshow all think we want to buy a statue of a guy whose face is rotting away. I would consider a statuette of Master Shan, but Malgus? Meh.
