  1. Appreciate the update and the honesty of no new content until Fall. Will check back towards the end of the year. Stay safe all. And no...im never changing the sig. LMAO
  2. Or lucky? It also depends on what your guild's focus is. Since launch we allowed up to around 60 players. We like to keep things limited and never wanted over kill. We aren't in the game of being the biggest so we restrict recruiting. With that and looking at the numbers... We've lost 6 people that have either been removed (for behavior or culture clashing) or have left on their own (normally encouraged because they don't fit). Out of the 54 remaining, 45% have not been active in the last 7 days. I've emailed back and forth with most of them, because we do work to ensure good relationships with all guild members, and they have been pretty honest. They are bored. We clear through raid content quickly and there just isn't much else for PVE Raid-Focused players to do. Run into a tough Hardmode raid encounter? It is usually down in the 2nd or 3rd attempt...unless it is bugged the hell out (Soa). So you can blame the turnover/churn on the guild but at the end of the day it is really about the game. If the players aren't having fun or entertained still, an amazing guild isn't going to retain them. We had two core raiders that have been central to the guild and always helping everyone and going above and beyond. They were on every day for hours and participated as much as possible. They finally said that the game isn't fun anymore and they are done. Was there anything the guild could do at that point? Nope. We chat every day on FB or Mumble but there is no value left in the game for them. I emphasized the word value since people who haven't done any type of marketing, sales, or ran a business problem don't know how to understand what that means. Customers will end up leaving or stop using a product if they don't feel they are getting anything for their money. If they feel like they have achieved all they can for their monthly fee, they aren't going to keep paying for it. Honestly at this point BioWare has an amazing start on a game that can be great. They have several things that need addressed. In my opinion, we are about a year away from a game that will have great end game content. Content that will last longer than a couple of weeks. Right now, this is an amazing single player RPG with a fantastic questing experience. However, not everyone is going to keep rolling alts and leveling to take advantage of the best part of the game. Blizzard had this same experience with Cataclysm. It focused on redoing the leveling process and content in the lower levels and end game suffered. They lost almost 2 million subscribers. If they want to retain raiding PVE customers, they need to look at the most successful period in MMOs for that - BC of WOW. So while the game is great for casual people that love leveling, PVE raiding community is taking a severe hit right now.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. A lot of it is just Quality of Life stuff to make the game more enjoyable. They are so close to having an AMAZING game but they just need to make some changes to what was rolled out. Thought of another one. A way to mute the droid on our ships, or at least reduce how much it talks.
  4. The only thing that I could see is "renting" or "buying" housing units. Take Kass City. You have all those massive towers around, which obviously aren't really filled, but you could turn them into units where the player could acquire property. It would really be nothing more than additional player housing, just not on a ship. You could set it up to where you can permit specific people to enter and such. I could see a real estate system of sorts as well where people can buy and sell properties...essentially a massive credit sink. The thing then comes back to how do they make it have an impact on the game where it seems worthwhile. I can't really see anything that it would give back to this style of MMO. It might just be some people missing SWG, but honestly those that came to SWTOR thinking it was going to be a replacement for it were sorely mistaken. This game was never intended to be a sandbox MMO. Is it something that could happen, sure. However there has to be a very good argument where value will be added to the player experience in having such a feature that would cause some pretty serious development time.
  5. Neat idea. I like the thought of scaling things down to where I'm not just clearing mobs for the player. It would definitely help with the grouping experience for lower level players. The only thing that could be an issue is how to normalize the stats. There is already some code in play to make it happen when it comes to WZs. However, how do you do this out in the questing environment? I guess you could base it off of being in a group, asking the higher level player if they want to go into "Master/Apprentice" mode and then their stats get scaled to that of the lowest level player in the party. However, their abilities would all still work - just not hit as hard. Definitely has potential. Could also cause a lot of bugs too. LOL Definitely could be something for 2.0 and first expansion.
  6. I agree with the points in the first post and this one. I put it in my suggestion list I posted a few days back. I definitely want the ability to converse with my companions at any time. Even if it is just random babble that can get repeated. It is so scripted in a linear path right now it doesn't feel right. The DA2 style is so disappointing. DAO or KOTOR you could go up to any companion and talk about whatever or do...something. DA2 killed that when sometimes if you were bored you could just go up to companion and get it on for whatever reason. I also would like to see special epic gifts that create a cut scene with the companion like in DAO/DA2. Say if I find an amazing rare find for Talos...it'll have a little cut scene with some back and forth. As far as the dialogue wheel goes...from a UI perspective it is cleaner than a basic numbered list. However, in DA2 we still have more than 3 options in a lot of cases and we need to have that here as well. They are just a few bits away from having an AMAZING game. They need to get that passion back to make it happen.
  7. I like that idea. Allow us to change colors to whatever we want without impacting stats. Not that I'll ever use that hideous yellow crystal again. LOL Maybe add a slot for a 2nd crystal. One for outer color and a 2nd for inner color - like the yellow/black and others that are our there now. Could come up with some pretty unique combinations.
  8. Why is this still being discussed? It was shot down. The major problem here is BioWare chose the wrong wording when describing the initial type of character you choose. In all honesty the Trooper, BH, Smuggler, Knight, Consular, Inquisitor, IA, and Warrior should have been called... STORYLINES. Then as you move up through the starting areas and get use to basic abilities and playstyles, you can pick your true CLASS. If you don't like the way the character class system is here, stop playing. It isn't going to change and shouldn't. Blizzard isn't going to let you dual spec Priest and Shaman. The comment was made that the core abilities are the same. I like how it gives you the taste of very basic abilities early on to help you decide which want you want to go. However, you don't really see Sorcerers running around using Thrash or Saber Strike all the time - well unless they aren't aware of what their class is. LOL Just like in WOW every class can sit there and melee a target, not that it is going to do much for casters. Mages have Fireball, Warlocks have Shadow Bolt...essentially the same spell just a different graphic. You could argue those are almost the same core abilities. Should Blizzard allow people to dual spec Mage & Warlock on one character? No. That's just stupid. BioWare did a different spin on the introductory storylines. Instead of basing them off of race like WOW does, they based it off of the background story of the character. My character can have roots as either a Bounty Hunter or Imperial Agent and begins their journey from there. Being Chiss or whatever doesn't really mean anything. Just like starting out in WOW as a Mage or Warlock doesn't really mean much. Death Knight is really the only time you are going to see full story immersion into a class storyline. I really don't see the point behind all this. At the end of the day dual or respecing Advance Classes will never happen. Not all games are created equal and the biggest issue BioWare has right now is all these people trained in the thinking of Blizzard and WOW applying those same definitions here. They don't apply. This is Bioware's world and not Blizzard's. If you like the other system better, by all means and head back. Let's stop wasting time of the Devs and others on issues that are already dead.
  9. Every game has issues when they come out. Stand alone games usually have extensive patches going out 3-6 months after release. MMO is nice because it forces the Devs to push out fixes faster. WOW definitely got a big boost initially because it was something different and had a good following from the WC3 crowd. That doesn't mean it didn't have issues of crashing constantly and things not working right. Heck the game still had/has major issues after Xpac releases or major content patches. Just the nature of the business. SWTOR has a good following so far thanks to a strong IP. There are going to be a LOT of growing pains for the next 6-12 months though. The game we are experiencing now will probably be nothing like what we have in a year. There will always be a few things people will demand a fix for but simply seems to never happen in an MMO. 1) Smooth operation on all system configs. 2) Classes balanced.
  10. You don't need to complete the heroic quests in order to fully level. These should be considered optional. Best way to combat not having a group for them is build a network of friends or guildmates to help out.
  11. So I've been keeping a list of things I would like to see added and thought I would pop them in here to get visibility to the devs and what not. UI Improvements Map ability to zoom out to other planets. Right click "Report Behavior" ability in chats to report trolling/harassment without the need to open a ticket. Ignore feature that blocks whole account. Ability to use macros - which is apparently coming anyway, at some point. Smart Tab targeting that ignores friendly NPCs Random Roll feature. Gear/equipment manager to switch between saved gear sets quickly. Different UI skins to change the look or color if addons won't be added in. Damage meter viewable by operations leader. Provide options to whisper or invite by right clicking on player name in guild interface. World Environment Taxi flight points connected, not segmented so much in cities. NPC tooltip that notes if they are part of a quest. Removal of "black" screens when taking elevators since the character is immediate ported to the new location. Music that is loopable (controllable by player) in areas. Day/Night cycles on appropriate planets. Removal of orbital stations or at least an option to by pass them or faster loading times. Mounting ability on orbital stations. Ability to enter specific class story areas while max level - like Sith Inquisitor office or Dark Council chambers on Drummond Kaas. Emergency Shuttle Transport to Operation or Flashpoint (aka summoning stone) as long as requested party has already been there once. Actually be recognized in the world by NPCs based on your rank in story. Removal of chests from operations/flashpoints that restricts looting to one at a time. Autodismount of players on Fleet when they enter the immediate area of a vendor or the GTN. Different color quest icons based on (daily/weekly/operation/flashpoint/pvp/standard) quest type. Companion System Removal of the companion gift cooldown or reduce to 10 seconds. Ability to talk with companions when no question is pending, similar to DAO. Ability to compare gear easier for companions when on personal ship. Companions that specialize in a skill, don't fail it and always provide a bonus. Correct the dialog when a companion completes a skill quest to actually match if it was a success or failure (they are mixed up right now half the time). Miscellanous Items Premade Level 50 characters on the PTR to actually verify issues for high level content. New Ship Passes, can replace fleet passes, to take you to your ship not the Fleet. Ability to sell back gear, that isn't used/equipped, with in 1 hour of purchase. Ability to trade BoP gear that drops in FPs or Operations. Guild ship to do cooperative space missions, access certain regions, and also house guild bank. Customizable personal ship and guild ship. Global Trade Network Simple search field for GTN without the need to select required sorting options first. Ability to view comparable listings for items on the GTN when selling an item.
  12. Personally I don't see the need for this except to make it a time sink. I would get rid of the cool down completely or at the very least make it like 10 seconds.
  13. No it is about common sense. AC = class in WOW. Inquisitor, Warrior, Smuggler, etc = Storyline not "class" in the traditional sense. WOW won't let you respec from a Priest to a Paladin, you shouldn't be able to respec from a Sorcerer to an Assassin. This really isn't that complicated to understand. They never said we can have Sith purebloods on the Republic side, unless I missed it. What they did say is that it will unlock the other races for classes/storylines that currently don't have them. I would imagine they won't cross the line when it comes to faction restricted races. It seems to just be a player interpretation that is taking hold on the forum. They'll probably do it systematically. I would see something where the heavier populated servers will get transfer options to light servers, but not the other way around. Once things get more balanced we could everything opened up...and chances are it will be a "for pay" service like that other company. It sounds like priority is still given to same server, but others would be used to fill gaps. Perhaps they could have an option for "same server only" group? It would make your wait longer which will upset people.
  14. I think the problem is, and a lot is shown in this thread and forums overall, just how uninformed people are. The devs had hit on nearly every point in the Q&A today, but people don't research before they ask. We see this in Q&As with other companies too though, it is just the nature of the animal. They almost need to just create an FAQ Wiki where we can just keep putting the new details for the questions being asked.
  15. It was a dev video interview from a fan site. Can't remember which one exactly, I'll see if I can dig it up. It was a British guy doing the interview from what I recall. The general statement just restated what was said last year: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/14/same-sex-relations-in-swtor-post-release/ That last line is what is most telling. The additional romance options will come with additional companions, not existing ones. Though that is always subject to change.
  16. You mean what they are putting in Patch 1.2? Patch 1.2 will have it. Announced a couple weeks ago.
  17. They've already addressed this a few weeks ago. They are not introducing the SGRA until new companions are introduced. They aren't going to go back and redo the story lines for existing companions right now. Their support staff has been addressing the performance issues with the client pretty regularly. If there is nothing new to report yet, why take up a question? Read the various posts, tweets, and other items regarding performance issues. They've said pretty recently that 3rd Party Mod support is probably quite a ways off. They won't touch it until the client issues are resolved. Mods just cause more issues because it changes the client and can make troubleshooting a pain. Damage Meters and Combat Logs haven't really been touched. I think there was a comment about combat logs being worked out, but I doubt we'll see a damage meter. Much like the Threat Meter which will likely never come to the game. There was a Dev interview on a fan site where they said they don't want encounters to be built where threat has to be micro managed like other games. It changes their design philosophy and they are staying away from it. Just about everyone has a threat drop if they get in trouble right now, so that isn't happening. I would imagine damage meters are probably pretty close in the reasoning for not seeing them. They've been fairly tight lipped on the specifics. We'll know more in a couple weeks when it is on PTS. Wait for an expansion to introduce new species overall. The unlocking of existing ones that are already part of the character customization system makes this easier to implement. I wouldn't be shocked if there will be some sort of race change feature in the future. However, probably not a huge priority right now until more races are put in. I trust their statistics more than others. If historically this is their slowest period it makes sense. Now it sucks currently for EU players, but I would imagine they'll eventually start splitting maintenance like WOW. Handle US servers on the current schedule and do EU that afternoon in Austin when it is night in Europe. Not everyone will be satisfied. Just goes with the territory. Ideally though I would like to see them get away from this method of Q&A and go to a Twitter or CoverItLive..."live" chat for one hour and knock out a bunch of questions. Responses would be shorter, but people wouldn't feel so ignored.
  18. Umm...wait what? Why is the class system here so hard to comprehend for some people. Maybe the problem is starting everyone out in a generic primary class (the core 4) and then allowing them to actually pick their real class (advanced class) at level 10. Their implementation is going to be EXACTLY LIKE WoWs. Is the dual spec in WoW to allow you to be both a Priest and Warrior by clicking a button? No. It allows you to be a Disc Priest or Shadow Priest by clicking a button. You need to stop thinking of your Smuggler Class being equal to a class in WOW, it isn't. Your actual class is whatever advanced class you picked - Gunslinger or Scoundrel. Say you picked Gunslinger, contracts you are pretty much a Hunter from WOW (without the pet...sorta). Can your Hunter on on WOW respec to Priest to heal? Umm no. Now a Priest can respec from DPS (Shadow) to Heals (Disc or Holy) much like a Sith Sorcerer can...and they'll have the ability to have a DPS and Healing spec pre-entered to swap when needed. I really have no idea why the class system is so hard to grasp. Perhaps the program is calling the base/core 4 classes in the first place. When they probably should have just gone with "Storyline" or something. You pick the Smuggler, Inquisitor, whatever Storyline and then at level 10 you get to pick which class from that story line you want to be. The dual spec system, once put in place here, will probably behave and act exactly like WOW. I'm sorry you picked a class that didn't have a healing tree. Welcome to the life of a hunter, rogue, warlock or mage in that other game. However, you don't see that company saying "oh here, i'll let you respec or pay for a class change to go Priest or Paladin." No. It is called reroll if you want a hybrid class and not a pure dps class.
  19. The crafting recipes are very expensive if you go after every thing. Like with Synthweaving, I don't personally use Medium or Heavy armor so I stopped buying those. It was just pointless. Also for speeder training, I still haven't got the 110 speed. I have the credits, just don't really feel the need to go get it right now. Don't feel like you need to buy everything, just focus on the stuff you will use while leveling. After that, dailies will give you all the money you need.
  20. You realize it is Tuesday right? This is the normal window. Plus we are with in the first few months of release so special maintenance windows will happen for critical bugs. Your "other" MMO has done this plenty of times. I guess you weren't around for the 2nd and 3rd XPac releases or several of the major content patches. Servers would be down for 12-18 hours and would only have updates saying "Next update will be provided by 4PM" followed by one to stay check back at 6PM. Then take in the numerous server restarts or emergency downtime to fix critical errors. Relax and approach the situation with equal standards. The maintenance of this MMO hasn't been any different, if not less intrusive, than any other MMO.
  21. Yeeesh. Do we just have a lot of people that haven't been in MMOs before? Dual Spec or cheaper re-spec costs are definitely important. At times there are situations where a role is missing for a raid or to help run people through FPs. I've on several occasions have had to go between healer and DPS to help people out. The draw back is having gear sets for both. However, people can be skilled in both roles. It would also be nice to see people develop their skills beyond just going pew pew.
  22. Going to make this simple. If you roll a Priest in WOW, can you respec to a Warrior? There is your answer.
  23. Or maybe some of the bugs were fairly complicated that there was no way to get them fixed in time for live launch? My experience in beta was relatively bug free. I submitted a few things here and there, but nothing compared to what is reported after live. Why? The sample pool is much bigger now. More combinations of system setups and things that weren't triggered during beta will get noticed now. They have been doing a pretty good job at getting things fixed when they can. One of the recent big issues being the guild chat bug required them to actually add in something to the client to track it down. This was only after they were able to collect data from a few hundred players so they could narrow things down. Looking at the patch notes for 1.1 it appears that a large portion of them are getting squashed here soon.
  24. It may or may not work for you, but in the large thread where they are gathering data about this bug one of the fixes was to reload your UI an ALT-F4 out during the reload. So CTRL+U twice and then ALT+F4 about 2 seconds later before the UI comes back up. If you were having the guild chat issue, the gquit and re-invite can help, but I found once I took my alts out of the guild the problem went away completely. Probably a permissions issues somewhere that is messing it up. Which is why it is taking a bit longer to fix this bug and why they are asking for feedback to get some data to help track it down.
