  1. It's from the music that plays during the last boss of Metal Gear Rising. The boss of which says "Nanotech, son" before the beat down commences.
  2. If every other class has self heals as apart of their defense cd's if what I've read on these boards is true. Why should rebuke loose the damage portion? Lets have a utility that adds some small bit of self healing to it.
  3. It might be a shallow thing, but I think something that would help with any blandness would be to get some interesting animations. I said years ago that Blade Rush didn't seem like an Ataru style attack visually, being a acrobatic Form. It needed to give the illusion of movement, appear to be a dynamic attack even if we aren't physically moved from the spot. Anything we get, should look interesting and fit the theme, that alone will help make things. Having another attack wouldn't be so bad, we already get shafted as Ataru form is our first active skill on taking the AC. Why that would be when we have disciplines now confuses me, but there it is.
  4. What about a gap closer without a minimum distance, or would that be to close to zealous leap? I like the idea you presented about blade rush being a line aoe, but ten meters does limit it. If however we could use it to close distance or attack in place, it would give us that extra skill and some more mobility.
  5. This actually happens in the later Fate of the Jedi series of novels.
  6. I'd like to see some sort of CC protection (not immunity but resistance of some kind) built into Ataru's defensive form, and for Defensive Forms itself to become a baseline skill rather than take a utility slot.
  7. I can do it with Doc healing, even easier once I put him in 172's. I'm in full 186 gear with crafted enhancements, and mostly 178 augments.
  8. As a writer, I need people to tell what's wrong with my work, as long as they aren't rude and keep it constructive, I think Oddball was doing that. Anyone who creates something needs that if they want to improve. That aside though, I love the more rounded helmet in the first image Its shape blows the other one away But then I like sleek designs more than rounded buckets. I'm admittedly not a big mando fan. Now, if someone could point me towards some Echani gear, and the Sun Guard armor?
  9. /signed. After three years plus the beta period, it really feels like Bioware doesn't know how to get this class right. Not that they haven't done some good things or that they don't generally know what they're doing, but conceptually aren't sure how to get the right fit. I've just started playing a vigilance spec Guardian and that spec feels like a combination of Watchman and Combat, it feels solid. I've played a Combat sent as my main since launch and while I seriously love the class, its fun, but it also really feels like its missing that something that makes it feel solid. Our utilities need a lot of work, somethings feel like they should be combined or just tossed out, and in the case of Defensive Forms and the centering aspect of Contemplation made a base class thing. Defensive forms an early teen level thing, and contemplation around 55 in my opinion. So we don't get them earlier really, but we get them. As far as improvements to the class go, I'll leave most of that up to others, I just want to put out there that the defensive form for Ataru has always seemed rather weak to me. To better our CC situation, I think having reduced CC effects built into it would suit it very well, at least things that hamper movement.. Just my two or three creds.
  10. The whole thing about traditional Jedi robes is strange, for one several of those designs are around. Another more important thing is that in this time period, Jedi battle armor was the traditional garb, as well as just a general variety of clothing. It wasn't until 1000bby+ that the Jedi seriously put down the armor in favor of robes, to enhance the image of peace. oh well.
  11. Throwing my two creds in, I know some of these have been asked for already, but the more support the better right? The ideas to make saber blade effects and sounds for weapons different I think is great. Separate these things from the base models for more weapon customization. Curved hilts- that sit right in the hand, not flipped around backwards. Have curved hilts in both factions. Sword like hilts- real world saber and rapier hilts for starters, something a Tapani saber rake would be proud to show off. In addition to the above, have these hilts have a bladed version, for non lightsaber blades. Then you have the opportunity to created curved blades, wavy blades etc etc. Allows for something to be put on the BBA weapon vendor for the Force classes. I don't have as much for guns, but a hand held mini bowcaster for pistol users would be awesome.
  12. Combat Sent: "Saber Dance" A fast flurry of acrobatic slashes, like Ataru is supposed to be. Shouldn't root, since Ataru is supposed to be all about movement and all. Watchman Sent: "Righteous Burn" A methodical series of slashes that adds a stacking vulnerability buff to a target in addition to damage. Maybe at the expense of Juyo stacks for more power. Could look like Zaoron's "Reaping the Fields." Focus Sent: "Niman Strikes" pulls a target forward into a horizontal slash, then sends them slamming into the ground back where the target started.
  13. Dude, similar reason for why I left, same reason for why I'm back. *fist bumps*
  14. I joined a couple months ago after a long break, actually my interest post is right above. I just have to say after a long hiatus from RP in any game this guild has really gotten me back on my feet and made rping an old character fun again. Even if I haven't been around long, I've been able to make an impact and help the guild refine itself and grow, it's been awhile since I've had that from an RP guild. Right now we have a number of story hooks that are pretty easy to get involved with, and we're developing a clear cut way for people to rise through the ranks. One where communication is kept clear and schedules are accounted for. RL comes first in the end. I'm not an officer, but I'd be happy to answer any questions that came my way or find someone who could.
  15. So if this can exist in reality: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/08/110812-new-planet-darkest-black-coal-kipping-science-space-kepler/ How come we can't super heat some of those gasses, pass an electric charge though it and contain it in a magnetic field generated by a hilt?
  16. I've studied swordplay all my life, eastern and western styles. The history of different styles, the physical side and in more than one case the spiritual philosophy behind several. Dual wielding has always been a favorite style of mine to personally execute as well as watch. A master in full motion is like physical poetry to my eyes. I didn't bring it up because I believed it didn't matter so much for this conversation, the weapons in question are fictional, and the OP had a great question. Lightsabers would also come up, and I was lucky enough to be apart of a discussion with a professional fencer and physicist who both dual classed as huge Star Wars nerds (like me ) there's also a great article on Wookiepedia.com. I recommend the site for any lore questions anyone has: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber The greatest draw back of dual wielding in the real world, and why it never really caught on in most places swords were used as the mainstay, is that it's difficult to effectively use in a war setting. When you compare it to the simple but highly effective use of shields, or the the stopping power and ability to be used against cavalry of a large two handed sword, dual wielding just wasn't practical. Even more so when you realize how much easier it is to use those weapons. Most of human history didn't even use swords, the spear was the bread and butter of warfare. I'd love to see a lightsaber spear (Lightpike) in game sometime. Musashi was famous for his "Two Heaven as One" style. The pairing of the katana with the wakizashi, but he didn't commonly use it on the battlefield. It was a dueling style rooted on what he saw of western sailors that came to trade. Indeed if you read his book "Go Rin no Sho" the Book of Five Rings, you see that he is a big proponent of not swearing by any one weapon, but being flexible enough to use whatever is best suited to the situation and is at hand. Be that one sword, two, a spear, or an oar he carved into the shape of a Big flippin sword on his way to a duel. To find a culture that used two swords in actual warefare you would need to look to south east Asia. Thailand and Vietnam had a history of dual wielding. I've been told ancient Egypt did as well, but I was never shown any proof of that. On the subject of lightsabers and weight. The blade doesn't have weight, however the ignited lightsaber is supposed to have a gyroscopic effect that pulls the blade upright. All those spins actually have practical use! They would be needed to not only keep from cutting the wielder, but also make the necessary movement of righting the beam practical. This means strength is needed to safely use the weapon. Not only for this reason, but kinetic energy does play its part in how hard you get hit. A light flick of the wrist may hurt but won't kill, while a full bodied swing will certainly cleave something. I'll stop there, since I didn't intend to crit anyone with a wall of text, I hope this helps some though.
  17. This is good stuff ^_^ The lore for Sentinels is completly different now than from before the mmo class came out. Originally the Sentinel was the detective or troubleshooter of the Jedi order. The Jedi most likely to know how to deal with all things tech and the Jedi most likely to work with police. The Shadows were a subset of the Sentinels whose focus was specific to locating, running down and if need be eradicating anything dark side related. Sentinels and Shadows both weren't as trusted by the rest of the Jedi, because they were in more constant contact with dark side corruption and sometimes had to walk a fine line. Quinlan Voss from the clone wars era was a good example of the original Sentinel/Shadow.
  18. I think this is the heart of it. Dual wielding can be very defensive or offensive, and the easiest way to represent the defensive side of just having two weapons would have been to give sentinels a higher base defense %. With all the CD's ontop of it though, it probably would have been OP. To keep a class distinction, the people with heavy armor got to be the most defensive group of Jedi. Lore wise, using anything other than the standard single saber was considered more aggressive anyway. So to the Jedi mindset, two sabers meant more potential carnage.
  19. I'd love to play a class that was a little bit smuggler and a little bit Jedi with a saber/pistol combo My advanced class would be MH saber/OH Pistol.
  20. I think this is the important thing. In lore though, dual wielding a lightsaber was considered extremely difficult since it requires double the focus of wielding one, which was already considered a feat only made practical through the force. Someone who could dual wield proficiently and regularly was rare, though it wasn't so rare to do so sporadically for a limited amount of time like in the examples above. That, and Sentinels in SWTOR are dedicated to their weapon, that's where most of their skills lie, manipulation of their lightsabers, wheras the other Jedi/Sith classes have higher degrees of force use. It's the focus of their skills, the theme and the lore behind wielding dual sabers that makes them the masters. It takes more skill to use a saber in each hand than it does one saber in two hands, just to keep the force user from killing themselves.
  21. Thanks for the response, I'll check out your site
  22. Looks pretty interesting to me Sent a pm your way.
