  1. I unsubbed yesterday because I'm bored of the game. However, if I wasn't bored I wouldn't be threatened by this. 1. Subscribers get all the same things they have now, but gain: a. monthly coins b. more ppl to play with c. extra cosmetic stuff d. potentially faster content (I'm not gonna judge the success of this one) 2. Subscribers don't lose anything. It doesn't sound like their cash shop with be P2W (pay to win), developers have figured out it's a terrible idea. Stop being hysterical and paranoid about the cash shop. There are plenty of valid reasons to unsubcribe, but I don't think there are any rational, objective reasons to do so from this announcement.
  2. Wrath of the Lich King was released on November 13, 2008 Let say you turned 12 the day that happened (though it should be earlier), that would make you 16 on Nov. 13th of this year. Doesn't quite add up.
  3. What? I think ArenaNet is pretty good, but I take it you haven't seen Aion (by NCSoft). Easily the worst MMO I have ever played.
  4. I have found that starting a cast and strafing back and forth (to interrupt it) can very reliably (only takes maybe 5 tries ) cause a global cool down in which I am actually locked out from using other abilities. There are also other reports of using non-cast time abilities misfiring and causing GCDs. This is all without any noticeable lag. Is this issue being researched and will it be addressed soon?
  5. Yes, they still stand with so that if they get jumped at they will hit a wall.
  6. I agree. In before dozens of broke people post that you're wrong.
  7. I don't know where you guys position Toth, but basically you attempt to keep the distance between you and the tank at max, WHILE keeping the tank closer to you than Toth. For me, this means I tell the melee DPS to stand on Toth's side (and not back) because if they are on his back they'll be too far to heal. It's tight, and you have to re-adjust a lot because of the jumping and moving and then aoes that move the tank around. But if you can skip getting hit even 1/2 the time it will help a lot. Hopefully this will help you: http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6384/totharea.png Keep in mind it's just a general layout, things are really quite tight and your heal range is only slightly larger than his aoe range.
  8. It just gets better with experience. I barely feel troubled watching all those cooldowns and timers at 50. But when I change to Carnage (something I've played very very little of) even though it has LESS cooldowns that I have to track, I find it takes a lot more of my attention. I'm just not used to the flow of it yet.
  9. But we lack any knockback, and have the worst stun in the game. We gain some things, and we give up others.
  10. I don't do any dailies except the Black Hole ones, and then only once a week on two characters. I probably average less than 1 HM FP a day (if only I had time). I have 4 max tradeskills. I have 3 50s, and a 25ish. That's lots of alts that I crafted stuff for, bought character perks on, bank room, inventory space, etc. No I don't play 8+ hours a day, I work a 40 hour week and live with my GF. (she doesn't play). I just don't think these prices are so bad. If they don't balance credit sinks with credit creation we would have some insane inflation over a very short period of time. I'm not saying their system is perfect, but most people in this thread only have their own perspective as a reference. Bioware has a lot more information to use. Could they have taken all that information and made poor choices? Sure. Do I think they're making better decisions than if one of you were in charge? Yes.
  11. They have statistical data that they base these things around. They probably look at how much the average level 50 player earns in a day and try to balance that (in a fashion) with how much they spend. They probably consider the differences between exchanges (GTN) and gains (quest rewards) into these decisions. So if these things are too expensive for you, my guess is that: 1. You're probably earning much less than the average player of your level. (most likely) 2. You play less than the average player of your level. (a reason for the above) Keep in mind that the averages for these sorts of things tend to be quite low because the "average" players are not hardcore and don't play for 8 hours a day. To be significantly lower than that... I honestly doubt you would be happy in any sort of game economy. But for someone that manages their money well, these prices aren't hurting us.
  12. Thank you for posting that (Original poster). You have vindicated all of the Sentinels / Marauders that try to explain that our class is just more complicated than many others. Some say: This class is easy to play, hard to master. Other classes seem: Easy to play, easy to master. And then it gets boring. I can't go back to my Madness Sorcerer because it's just so bland by comparison.
  13. Sure. But only as long as it makes sense. They've been trying to stick with mechanics that can be visually represented or hinted at. So if every time you interrupt him he yells something, arcs his back, glows intensely and gains a stacking cast speed buff, it will help push the mechanics in the visual direction. However if he just gains a stacking buff with no other indications it will just be another boring mechanic. Sure you'll learn it just the same after a few attempts, but it won't add to the fight as much as, for example, the dialog between Jarg and Sorno.
  14. 1. Anni 2. Rage 3. Anni 4. Anni 5. Depends on the enemy. Carnage has more burst 6. Anni 7. Anni is more dynamic and complex, Carnage is more simple. I prefer Anni. Nothing is wrong with Carnage, it may be a little less DPS (Damage per second) over longer fights, I just prefer the style of Anni more.
  15. All that drama at level 12? Jeez. I hear lots of stories like this but never run into it on my server. I'm either lucky or RP servers really do have more mature people. Good luck on your future endeavors
  16. I saw so so many of this when 1.3 released...damn I hate ignorant people: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3q8adz/ Edit: And: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3q8afl/ Edit2: And this is true in every MMO: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3q8ahz/
  17. Moving had a better outcome than anything else since release (for me). I went from a low pop server where I was bored all the time and losing interest in the game, to a robust, busy server where there are more people to play with, queues are faster, and people are actually getting together to do things. My server isn't laggy, it isn't "crowded" and I didn't have to change any of my 8 character names.
  18. The problem is that even if they attached set bonuses to all new columi/rakata after a specific patch, you have to realize that a vast majority of players are incredibly ignorant. They don't read the patch notes and they don't read the forums. Then you would have mass confusion as these people tried to figure out why they got the set bonus from one piece of armoring and not another. The fact is that sure, the situation sucks a little right now, but down the road when they raise the level cap and nobody is even getting these sets any more it will just be an old memory. On the flip side, this state of things can actually benefit you: Buy Black Hole piece, take mods out, stick in rakata piece = set bonus.
  19. If it's social gear/adaptive gear, yes. If its some random crafted light armor piece, no.
  20. They probably grabbed it early so they could modify it to be their own, without having tons of overhead and code to cut. That's just a guess, but as someone who does programming it makes sense. While I do programming for a living, I haven't worked on a game engine. So I won't presume to know the specifics enough to say whats right and wrong. It's funny you mention Rift because one of my favorite Dev responses was about this topic, from a Rift developer. I wish I had a screenshot, but he basically shot down all these wild assumptions that the engine is responsible for everything and that it's even remotely similar to what the engine they started with. I certainly wish someone at Bioware would write a long blog entry with enough information to explain to non-programmers about how their engine works, how they changed it, and what it's responsible for. However I think they probably have better things to do.
  21. Exactly. These threads come up in pretty much every MMO forum, even after the developers state that they heavily customized the game's engine to fit their needs. This thread is full of complete speculation, misinformation, and countless unfounded assumptions.
  22. That's damage, not DPS. It's an impressive number for sure for a class without much AoE. Probably would be more impressive if you didn't have a max-length game and actually managed to take the middle.
  23. 1. Undying Rage gives a 99% damage reduction.. and takes 1/2 your current HPs and for a whole 5 seconds. Best used at really low life. Smart players will just stun you when you're low so you can't use it. 2. Cloak of Pain reduces damage by 20%, not 25%. 3. Obfuscate is useful against other warriors, but other classes either have very few, or zero abilities that will be disrupted by this debuff. 4. Retaliate might have "some" potential use for burst in PvP. In PVE it's a DPS loss.
