  1. I love healing on my scoundrel, you are mobile and you put out very good healing. Generally even when I get focused I put out 200k+ in healing on average. On good games though I hit 300k+ and last night I had my best with 450k. This is in BM gear btw with no WH. This is the build I am running currently which is pretty standard I believe - http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#701MffbzGoRdsZ0cZGb.1 As far as secondary stats this is what I am aiming for - Crit (400) > Surge (300) > Power > Alacrity I just recently got full BM but when I start min/maxing my toon I'll probably avoid alacrity when possible, you really don't see a large benefit from it and you would get more out of stacking Power. Accuracy is worthless for a healer. Companions I used Corso till I got Akaavi then I let her just aoe everything while I kept her healed.
  2. I started a guide on my site you can check out, I still have the last stretch I need to finish up writing but you should be able to get the gist of it. http://www.starwarsjunkster.com/games/smugglers-stories-guide-to-leveling-a-scoundrel-smuggler/ I leveled Sawbones straight to 50 and pvp'd a good majority of the time because it was my second 50 and didn't want to do all the planet quests again.
  3. Actually it is the other way around. Cunning has DR while Power doesn't. Power is the only stat that doesn't suffer from DR that's why many say stack power after you get to a certain point with crit/surge.
  4. I wouldn't say Scoundrel is a hard class to play by any means. Energy management takes a little bit of getting use to but really isn't difficult to manage. To me (currently 38) if I really had to compare it to WoW I'd compare myself to a resto druid. I have heard from a few people though that once you hit 50 you are more comparable to a Healadin. Either way it's a lot of fun, I have a 50 Sent and while it is fun to dps at times to me it just isn't as gratifying as it is to heal and keep the team alive. Really though I don't stealth all that much in PvP except when I am solo holding a node or when I am trying to escape combat, other than that generally I am in the mix keeping people alive or LOS keeping myself alive cause I am getting focused. Just be prepared as a healer to be focused and focused a lot. So if I was to say what the hardest thing about being a scoundrel is would be that in PvP you have to learn how to LOS and heal on the run. But again this will come with just regular play.
  5. I'm close to my 2nd 50 on The Swiftsure we have pretty fast queues in the 50s bracket as well as the lowbie bracket. I did make a toon on Fatman though just don't know if I have it in me to grind up another toon at this time.
  6. It's just one of those things... if you choose to only level through WZ you have to deal with having a capped valor and capped WZ comms. I agree the cap should be a bit higher but I am sure the reason they kept it semi low was to avoid people buying all their BM gear right when they ding'd 50. At least it isn't 1000 anymore.
  7. Just be happy they allow you to trade in your coms. The grind is easy right now... any easier would be them just handing you BM gear as you ding 50 which I wouldn't be against by any means but to say the grind as it is now is difficult is just amusing.
  8. Sorc are still the best healers
  9. Been rolling with Corso so far (currently 32) he does well though he is only single target so I sometimes have to tab around to make him hit all the mobs so they don't attack me. I am thinking about trying out Bowdaar though since I hear he has a good AOE move. I'll probably switch to Akaavi when I get her since I hear her DPS is amazing. Crewskill wise I went with Armormech to keep myself geared as well as my companions. I've heard armstech is pretty good to go as well as cybertech. Biochem maybe after you hit 50.
  10. This is the spec I am currently running with - http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#701MffbzG0oz.1 I am currently 31 almost 32 and love the healing. Are you just frustrated with the healing numbers or are you having trouble conserving energy or what? Since I hit 30 I've been putting up 150-180k healing in WZs pretty easily (here is a video I did last night actually on NC ( )), just tossing SRMP on people through out the match and spamming EMP when they are below 30%. I cast UM when I can and when I need to get a big heal off and hit DS when I need to regen some energy. You just have to find the right rotation that fits you the best. Also like you said you are getting into fights when you should be healing, coming from a DPS spec this took me some time getting use to. You play a support role so just stay in the back and keep the DPS/Tanks alive. Keep people off nodes when needed but for the most part just LOS heal like a mad man. As far as hybrid spec sadly I can't comment on that yet, I may give one a shot when I hit 50 but till then I'll probably just stick in sawbones for the time being.
  11. For me (I am only 29 at the moment) it really depends who is hitting me and what their gear looks like. What was the level difference between the two? I know that I can stand there and heal through people that are lower level than me pretty easily. I had a level 14 mara wailing on me and I could still heal the rest of the team w/o thinking about it. Just throw on my two stacks of HoT and he couldn't do anything to me so don't know what he was doing wrong or just because he was 10 levels lower he didn't have the attacks shut me down. Energy management is pretty easy as well once you get the hang of it, so you can heal w/o ever running out especially if they are not doing a lot of damage to you.
  12. This annoys me being as I am squishy if I do get the ball I find a tankier person and pass it right away and go back to healing them. They turn around and freak out cause 2-3 guys are on them and though they are still at full health they find the need to pass it back to me and I get stun locked and killed... good times.
  13. I find it to be more competitive as well. People don't seem to give up as easily and you don't have to worry as much about a gear gap.
  14. ^this!!! Why is it that we need rewards to justify pvping? Coming from SWG (preCU) the were not rewards for pvping besides having a ton of fun and having epic battles in AH or Theed.
  15. Only the crafted War Hero gear do you need valor rank.
