  1. I think I'll give sniper a shot, with the community praising it as having the best story and the simplistic gameplay style (just camp and shoot), i think it's the sort of class I'd prefer to play more, as i won't have players nagging me to swap specs and heal. :-) Thank you everyone for helping sway my decision. One final question though, is there a particular sniper spec that outshines the other 2 when it comes to leveling? I imagine Virulence isn't that good in leveling due to the dot ramp up time, which leads me with Engineer (Which i think is the AoE spec?) And Marksmanship, is this correct?
  2. Seems I'm now stuck deciding between Mercenary and Sniper now! I looked up some gameplay videos of both, and they both seem appealing, the bonus with Mercenary is that if for some reason i do ever decide to want to fulfil another role, there's always the option to heal sitting there. I must admit, i like the companions on the Bounty hunter more, mostly because of Blizz, when it comes to the Imp agents companions, none of them really appeal to me.
  3. Hey everyone, the last time i played extensively was when the level cap was 50, so a lot has changed since then. I've got into game, messed around with a few classes (i'm a sub, so the 12x exp has been nice) but i'm unable to settle as I'm still not 100% sure what classes do at end-game and I just want to focus on one, not level up several. When it comes to the roles, I'm really not sure what I'd prefer to do, but i think i would like to go for a ranged role, as I heard the current ops are very punishing for melee players, which is leaving them sidelined a bit. My main intention is to do as many Operations and Flashpoints as possible, because i love Dungeons and raids. I want a nice chilled out class that wouldn't be too stressful to play, and this was causing me to lean towards the sniper initially, but before i finally do settle on a class, i just wanted to hear the opinions of the community and more experienced players. PvP isn't something i'm wholely interested in, but it is something i will dabble in from time to time. So with all that said, is Sniper the class i should lean towards? I'm not really interested in Mercenary, while the DPS specs look fun, I'm not really a fan of healing because I always end up getting the (sorry to say it) really bad players who just can't avoid damage, making my role even more stressful.
  4. Thank you for the information guys, I'm going to go for a mercenary as i used to play the tanking bounty hunter on the games release, got him to level 50, as that's a class I'm familiar with, I'm going to go the opposite route this time and go for the merc. :-)
  5. Hey guys, returning to the game and I'm looking to play a DoT based class, with the changes to disciplines, I have no clue what I'm after. I don't mind what armor type my class wears, and i'll probably be playing on the Empire side, as I normally go for the "Good" allignment in MMO's, decided I'd go for a bit of a change! What class(es) fill the role i'm after? Edit: The ability to be a very strong soloer would also be a huge sellpoint for me, by that i mean the ability to solo old raids (if this is possible in this game) as well as hard dungeons and such.
  6. Definitely a Juggernautt/Guardian with all the defensive and mobility cooldowns they have.
  7. "Greed" Except you can get 500 cartel coins each month as a result of your sub fee anyway.
  8. Cheers for the input again dude, i greatly appreciate you coming back here to give me the information, the only thing i'm unsure about is which class is the burst spec and which is the Sustained/Dot based spec, as you've given conflicting information in your post, at the start of your post you said tactics is the burst spec, with plasmatech being the sustained spec, however you then say tactics is sustained, and plasmatech is burst. Or maybe I'm just being very stupid and reading things wrong.
  9. Brilliant and speedy reply, thanks for that, I guess there's not much point in fussing over the specs for now then given that the changes are coming in less than a month, I guess for now I'll stick with tactics for now then for knocking out quests and dailies to speed things up a bit so i can get as much done as possible. I'll bookmark your current guide and I'll be keeping my eye out for your guide you upload onto Dulfy. Cheers! Edit: Thanks for mentioning the livestream as well, was unaware of this and will be tuning into watch it.
  10. Level 53 and inching close to 55, I've been switching between the specs each level, so i have experience with all 3 specs, I'm a veteran MMO player so picking up specs is easy for me, however, I'm currently stumped as to which spec i want to prioritize more. When it comes to DPS'ing, are their huge differences between the two specs in terms of damage output, or are they both on a moderately equal level, with the DPS differences being minor? I've tried to answer this question myself with google, but everything i find seems out of date, being Dulfy (Using an out of date calculator, which leads me to believe the rotation and effectiveness of each spec could be wrong) and Noxxic, which is known for very rarely being correct in anything it writes. So if i could get some info from the more up-to-date troopers, that would be grand and appreciated.
  11. Hey guys, me again with yet another question! Got my Knight to 55 finally, and after knocking out dailies and such on him, i want to focus on leveling another class to 55 to mainly knock out dailies, and solo as much content as possible. I'm looking at the sage and commando as they both offering healing roles (should i wish to heal) and the scoundrel is out because i just simply don't like that style of play. But i know nothing about these 2 classes, I don't know which one would fill what i'm after more, hence why I'm here. :-) From what i've gathered from googling (which, most of the answers were out of date, so i'm unsure if this is still true). The sage is the better Solo'er and has more AoE capabilities, but i just wanted to get some confirmations from more informed players before i invest time into a class. Basically, I'm going to want to solo dailies as fast as possible, and solo the hardest content possible (with the gear of course).
  12. I'm close to being level 55 for the first time on my Jedi guardian who i primarily play as a tank, however, I'm close to hitting 55 and i haven't got a clue what to do next! I'm by no means new when it comes to MMO's, playing Everquest 2 for 9 years, and WoW for 8, but with SWTOR, there's so many currencies going around and so many mixed answers from people being (i think) honest, and obvious trolls, that i just really haven't got a clue where to start as soon as i hit 55. I'm close to finishing my Class story, I'm currently on Corellia, and once I've finished off chapter 3, where am i to head too next to further progress it? As i currently have quests leading me to Section x (i think? Not in-game so can't check) as well as Ilum and i've knocked out a few quests on Makeb already. So! With that long bit of text over, basically. What order should i knock out the planets so that my story makes sense, and how do i go about gearing up?
  13. Brilliant, that's what i was hoping to hear, thank you very much for the quick answer Venom. :-)
  14. A guardian tank? I just recently hit level 48 (for the first time) and managed to (with a bit of effort) solo the first 4 man quest on makeb, i had to destroy some turrets, free some prisoners then take out some AA guns, and with treek and myself, we managed to get it done. My question is this, if i was put in the same spot with a commando (either healing or DPS'ing, whichever would be more efficient) would i be able to do this? I'm asking because i really like the lore of troopers, the 501st being my main reason for wanting to play a trooper, and I never really play Ranged DPS or healers in MMO's so i decided it'd be a nice welcome change, just wanted to get some information into how well they are when it comes to solo'ing, will i be able to knock out top level dungeons solo with a commando?
  15. Hey everyone, I'm a returning player to the game, looking for a class that can fulfill certain niches. I'm very heavily a solo player, and i don't mind what role i play, my main intention is to solo as much content as possible (even high level dungeons if possible) raiding is something i'd like to do, but not something i'm going to invest a lot of time into, maybe just watch the occasional guide and pop into a raid. PvP is something i like to indulge in sometimes so i don't want to feel completely useless here. I don't mind what role i fulfil, so long as the class I'm playing is able to accomplish what i'm after. I know this doesn't make any different as classes on either side are carbon copies of each other, but i'll be playing republic, going light side no matter what class i choose, because I'm too much of a goody. I look forward to reading the replies!
  16. So after playing a few gsf games, getting to know the controls and objectives of each map, I've come to the conclusion that it's just badly balanced in the terms of who you're matched up against. The majority of the time i notice I'm pushed against players who've invested a lot more time into their ships, which means i barely dent theres, while they're able to pretty much destroy me in seconds with the blaster alone, so I'm going to buy a cartel ship to get me a headstart so i don't have to trudge through the games feeling absolutely useless in order to upgrade my ship to be on-par with the majority. Which ship would be the best option to buy first? I mean maybe i just suck ***, and this isn't for me, but i really want to enjoy it, and i do enjoy it to an extent, i just don't enjoy going up against a tank that can destroy me in seconds. Would buying a cartel ship even provide a better game experience? I'd imagine they perform better than the basic starter ships after all, but am i wrong?
  17. Hey everyone, So i've recently returned to the game after a long hiatus (before the level cap was 55) I'm deciding to start a new, and i've settled on the Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular, I'll be going for the Guardian or Shadow respectively, as being able to tank is an option i would like. However, i can't decide which one i want to focus on, I've played both to the mid 20s, and i enjoy both of them equally, so i would like to ask some questions so i can use the answers to decide which one i would like to focus on more. 1. My main gameplay focus is going to be PvP and PvE, however i haven't got much interest in raiding at the moment, though this may change, which class fits my playstyle more at the moment? 2. I love soloing, so being able to solo as much as i possibly can is great, I'm not expecting to solo 4+ group quests, but if one of these classes can do that, that would be great! 3. I enjoy being sturdy and tough to take down, but i also like the option to build for the ability to dish out big hits, I'm assuming the Shadow would fit this niche of mine more?
  18. I've recently returned to the game after a long hiatus and been doing a lot of searching on the threads topic, but been unable to come up with anything that is recent and concrete. I'm currently leveling a Juggernaut tank and I'm unsure on the crew skills i should be taking that will fill my needs. I plan on using this Tank for mostly Warzones (Tanking) and Flashpoints (Again, tanking) as such i assumed that biotech would be the best, but a lot of people in-game have been telling me it's not a good crew skill anymore, is this true, or was i the target of a bunch of trolls? i've also heard that having slicing and utilizing that in order to gain credits is a useful method of raking in some extra cash, is this correct?
  19. I'd go with something like this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#101GMRrddrorzGzZcMM.3 The remaining 3 points can go in either Accuracy or Malice, depending on what you feel you need more.
  20. I too am curious about this, returned and resubbed, received the hutt cartel for free but i have yet to receive my speeder & pet also, i am 100% that i am eligible for them.
  21. Hey guys, recently resubbed to SWTOR now that the population seems to have bounced back from when i last played (I literally logged into my old powertechs server about a year ago and i was the only one online!) I'm currently sitting on a level 13 Jedi knight (Whom i've level'd over the past 3 days) and a level 49 powertech who i haven't touched since i quit at least a year ago. I'm mainly looking to tank throughout the game, as such i'll be sticking with my Knight or BH, i'm just not sure which to start with, with the knight i'm leveling again so getting an understanding of the class as i level, where-as with the bounty hunter, it seems a lot has changed so i'm jumping into a class which i recall nothing about. Would it be advised i just stick to leveling my Jedi knight now and just leave my bounty hunter on the side?
  22. Because you're the ONLY person in the world with that name, am i right? Yeah, it's easy to find yourself when you KNOW what you're looking for.. i bet you're up in arms about facebook displaying your real name too, huh?
  23. Sorry, but does it matter? What the hell are they going to do with your name? I know Bill gates' name, that doesn't mean i'm now able to chainsaw my way into his bank account. Stupid thread is stupid.
  24. I agree, it is the critics that ruined the franchise, i loved every single movie, they all fit well, and i even love the animated series, george did a good job, it's everyone else that's an arrogant little sod nowadays, you can't go out your front door without having someone tell you that you're exiting your house wrong.
  25. People complaining need to get outside and realise that there's more to life than a piece of machinary and a monitor. Go outside, if you have kids, take them to the cinema, you have time to play a game, so don't come back with "i ain't got time to take em out", you just can't be arsed because you're a terrible parent. Go out with friends, go to the pub, go to a club, watch a film, play on your games console or play another game. It's really not that *********** difficult. TL;DR - Stop complaining about downtimes and get a life that doesn't consist of sitting at a desk playing a game in every minute of your spare time. & Before anyone accuses me of being american, i live in south england, so you can rule that out of your attempted future insult towards me.
