  1. They didn't. Welcome to the forums where anything the developers say is twisted into something different.
  2. You can thank all the gold sellers who, in the past and in other games, used "free trial" accounts to spam advertisements in chat channels, or use annoying methods to advertise their wares.
  3. ^^ This. And it surprises me how many players just sit around and expect the company to spoon feed a community to them, so they can not lift a finger in effort on their end. It seems they expect the community to revolve around themselves, without being a part of it.
  4. Seems to be a bit of an oxymoron, a "mature" discussion about how a single, humorous tweet gets turned into "omg, the devs favor one side over the other". And in other threads people wonder why they don't post more.....
  5. No, they are simply a smaller market share, and thus a smaller target set. However, with the Mac's starting to make inroads, the *nix systems aren't such a microscopic minority anymore. A rooted *nix box is just as owned as a rooted Windows box.
  6. Basically you get what you pay for.... "free" will get you the support one can expect from something that is free.
  7. Don't forget: OMG, now I have a queue to log into <heavy populated server> kick those people off!
  8. And we could have Orcs, Elves, Dwarves.....
  9. I'd disagree, based on some of the add-on's I've seen in other games (coughWoWcough). Some of them are pretty much playing the game for the player, short of executing the actual command they're prompting the player to do. And they become "required" by the player base... No Deadly Boss Mobs, no raid for you! Or the ones that let players log on, go off to work, while their character is "playing" by automatically sniping and/or reselling stuff on the auction. And that's not even getting into the bots. No, the people who make game failures are the ones who take something "optional" and then mandate it become the 'standard' for other players. Those are the true destroyers of games.
  10. I'm pretty much the opposite. No addon support is a good thing, in my opinion.
  11. All in the matter of context.... "Are we there yet?" as a stand alone statement could be translated as a valid question, and that anyone who responds negatively viewed as attacking the questioner as if they were frothing at the mouth and screaming bloody murder. However, "Are we there yet?" at the end of the same question being repeated 100 times from the back seat by a child asking it within a span of an hour paints a much different picture.
  12. I think you'll have to wait until the event comes back. The vendor probably was removed as it was part of the area change/phase they put in place for the event for that crash site.
  13. I had to re-read that note as well. My first thought when glancing at it was the same as yours, that they'd all be "clear all" requirements. However, as was pointed out, the "encounter" being the keyword, cleared it up.
  14. Or, people will be logging in after a time off to check out the new content, thus clogging up Fatman with login queues. Which, will generate complaints in the forum.
  15. *holds open the cluebag* There you go, just reach in and get one. Maybe two.
  16. Unless, of course, there was an unexpected failure with the European cluster, when they were bringing the servers up. Could be a load balancer went haywire, a database cluster didn't sync, an unexpected hardware failure. Things that are UNPLANNED. So please, save the victim card for a more appropriate time. Its wasted on this. I'm certain they're trying to bring the European servers up, and aren't all off on a bender laughing about the servers being down.
  17. And the voice of "I've never worked in an IT shop" speaks. *double facepalm*
  18. You mean like the "but could be extended" comment they put in their scheduled maintenance messages?
  19. No it's not the same concept. And yes, you have the 'right' to be upset, just as other people have the 'right' to think it's something trivial to be upset about.
  20. The wrong analogy. Now, if the came kicked off 15 minutes before you got there, but then after a few hours you could go back and restart the match at any time you wanted, would it be as bad?
  21. Actually it could, if in-game purchases are able to be done and billed to the account holder. A "teen" is going to have a better grasp of this than a six year old.
  22. Depends on the "why" I left the game in the first place. If it was burn-out and just needed a break, then yes I've gone back and checked in over time. However, there have also been games that I've not been back to since leaving due to other types of issues. If it's enough to get me to take my money elsewhere, then they're not getting it again.
