  1. The reality is us casual players are catered to in some regard because we tend to be the adults of the bunch who have steady incomes and won't be canceling subscriptions because mom and dad stop giving us our allowance or because we dont have a steady job.

Of course it makes sense to give us access to content that would otherwise be unobtainable.

    Best. Reasoning. Ever.

  2. cry more please.

I have no reason to cry; I have nothing to cry about. I think the sides are equal. The ONLY thing I would like to see done is to give tanks KB protection and more resistant to CC. If you are looking for some utopia where everything is equal, then, my friend, you will most likely be disappointed. I would sarcastically say that I am sorry that you cannot pawn Empire toons with ease, which is what you probably want, but I won't. If and when changes are made, if MMO history repeats its self, as it normally does, then they will probably over power the Rep and then you will have more Empire players complain; and as you say there are more of them.

Oh wait... see what I did there.

IMO you as a gamer and a poster (troll) you are summed up in your original post where you basically say that if you do not agree with me, don't reply. I hope your 15.

Try to RP that the Republic is out numbered and underpowered because they refuse to give into their hate. Unleash your hate, come to the dark side, it is your destiney.

I went and played my Rep toon all night, was a blast. I do prefer the Empire because I like to play the roll of the bad guy. However, as far as planets, convos, and general feeling of actually being emersed into the story, Rep side hooks me more. I wish there could be a better mix.

    True story.

First, to addess this topic, I didn't say "that if you do not agree with me, don't reply."

Anyone saying this isn't an issue is obviously a Imperial player and loving the advantages they get over the Republics. If you play Imperial, save yourself time posting because all Republics that play these classes know these are real issues and you'll just be calling yourself out as an Imperial wanting to keep their advantage.

I quite clearly said to "If you play an Imperial, save yourself time because all Republics....know these are real issues..."

You make my point for me, sir. Let me enlighten you.

You play an Imperial, so of course you don't see the problem and have nothing to "cry" (play-wise) about. You "think" the sides are equal, but having never played the other faction to a higher level, you don't have any clue about the problem. Most of the game is in favor of the Empire. I can point you out 100 threads where this is being discussed or has been discussed. I started Republic and switched to Imperial, and the balance issues are glaring.

Yes, I am looking for an update to make things equal. This game is supposed to be built so that every mirrored class is exactly equal, giving no side the advantage. This is not how the game currently works. I am not asking to, as you put it, "pawn the Empire with ease," and it's not what I want. I want the factions to be equal ability wise the way they are supposed to be. Equality number-wise is a separate, though linked, issue which will begin to be solved with the LFG tool currently being discussed.

To my view, you're the one crying; crying that you don't want your precious overpopulated faction, and better working abilities changed. You have every advantage you could want over the Republic and you don't want it to end. Why do you not want balance if not for greedy, self-motivated interests?

Also, rudeness, (i.e. you calling me a troll) is against forum policy.

  3. Pre-WoW games were either sandbox (SWG, EVE) or quite hard in terms of time-consumption.

    <SNIP>

You leave out EQ. It was THE MMO that began all modern MMO's. It wasn't a sandbox at all IMO. It forced you to group to advance. It's the only MMO that's ever HAD a real community since MUDD's. If you didn't spend time with other players and make friends, you would have a real hard time (unless you played certain classes like cleric or enchanter) finding people to group with. This was especially true at high levels By then you'd have a reputation because you would group with guild people and they would tell their guilds what kind of person you were.

It's impossible to that that kind of community these days anyway. And look at is this way, some people just don't get along with certain other people. Friction between a very small number of people (just because some people just don't get along with other personality types) could eventually keep you from playing with anyone at all just from a few people badmouthing you just because you had clashing personalities (this applies double to SWTOR where all last name are shared). Sure, it would help you know what kind of reputation someone has and it might keep you from grouping with that person, and that's not really bad. If it's your cup of tea, don't use the tool and the people you group with, you'll have your own opinion of what kind of person they are.

But consider my above post, with the Republic there just aren't many people to begin with. The tool is needed. Sure there are some Republics that won't use it, but for a lot of them (us), I'd use it in a heartbeat. I haven't tried finding a FP on my main Republic toon since I used every method available to me for 2 hours one night during peak time and failed and finding a group.

Again, if you don't like it, don't use it, but don't cry and say it's not needed and threaten to quit because of it. If it wasn't needed they wouldn't be adding it.

Edit: Pardon my grammatical errors; I feel like crap and don't feel like fixing them tonight, although I usually would.

  4. Why can't the Imperials just accept that Republic characters NEED this option in order to have access to FP's? If you haven't seen how dead most republic servers are, level up a character and go to the space station. Note the number of people. Then log off and look at the number of people on the Imperial space station.

Now, stop saying that you just need to find a group without a tool. When you have a severe lack of players, finding a group without a cross server tool is just too time consuming. By the time you find a group, you could have already completed the FP in the first place.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THE TOOL, DON'T, BUT DON'T SAY THAT IT'S NOT NEEDED, IT IS.

  5. stop crying.

    Blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah

TLDR, stop being an Imperial Elitist that thinks it is, in fact, a one faction game, and that any changes made to make the Republic more balanced will ruin your Imperial owned 3:1 ratio of almost every server keeping you from doing as much content, and owning it, as often as you want.

Stop crying and go reroll Republic if you think you think you're so hot and want to take it off easymode. I guarantee you, after the first month of not being able to find groups, premades, and items to buy on the GTN (as well as buyers for your items) you'll run back to your Imperial toons sobbing with your tail between your legs.

  6. My friend rolled Imperial...why on earth would I want to play Republic in that case? So I can prove you wrong? It's not worth my time.

    Scared of proving me right.

Like I said, all the people against this are Imperial.

If you and your "friend" were Republic, you'd be singing a different song. Just as long as you get what YOU want: a large player base, a good economy with lots of stuff to buy and sell on the GTN, and lots of people do do FP's and PVP with, why should you care about the other faction, right?

If it bothers you so much, don't use it. Just put your own groups groups together and ignore the LFG feature, after all no one is MAKING you use it. But don't come in here whining that it's not needed, because if you knew the other side of the game you'd realize that yes, it is needed.

  7. But...why should he do something constructive, when he can post is worries to the world so everyone can read about his troubles? Jerry Springer style...

Every time I read a thread that says I will resub once "X" happens, I lose a bit of respect for the poster. It's like they are coming in to a friendly debate with their fists raised up...

I play republic btw. and empire as well. Course, i don't PvP allot at all. Ironically, I have no problems with server population balance :) And Im going to continue to sub! just started a second account too, maybe that negates your cancellation...

But they did have a question about that in the Q&A session this last run, perhaps you (OP) could look at that answer for more information...

And I support your concerns btw, you just don't need to come in with that "give me what I want or I'm leaving" attitude...it does nothing for your credibility with anyone.

I didn't say I was unsubbing because of the problem, I said I was unsubbing because my rig is down and I'm RMAing parts. I went on to say (if not in the same words) I may or may not resub depending on if these issues, which I consider to be some of the most important, get any acknowledgment (acknowledgment does not mean fixes, it means they admit there are problems and that yes, they can be addressed).

Don't put words in my mouth (or on my post, so to speak).

  8. As someone who was:

    • adamantly against Cross Server LFG tool pre-release
    • initially rolled Republic because it seemed like everyone was rolling Imperial
    • only to later re-roll on another server/Imperial side because of the shocking imbalance

Salva is speaking the truth. It sucks but it's the reality for far too many Republic players.

I fit all three of those variables! Imagine how I feel now that the original character(s) I rolled I might actually get to play!

Anyone against this is probably an Imperial that's used to having the advantage in everything and is too selfish to give it up.

I challenge anyone who says they are against this to switch to the republic (c'mon we all know you play Imps), level to 50, and see how much fun they have. If they think they want to quit now, just wait till you do that, you'll really want to leave.

  9. I too will be leaving if they bring this feature in. My main issue is that it turns the game 100% about loot acquisition which is not what a game should be about. We all understand that loot is part of the game, but it's not THE game. WoW made it THE game and it's fallen apart since half way through WOTLK. Server only LFG would be so sweet. Cross server breaks the magic formula. If I can't find a group to run a flashpoint with then that's ok I'll do other stuff - on the assumption there is other stuff to do. But each to their own: if you only play the game for loot then cross server LFG will be great for you.

/edit: and if they do bring it in it will plant the perception firmly in my mind that BioWare have no ideas about how to keep a person with a level 50 character entertained for a long time. I hope this isn't the case.

    Again,

If you played Republic and experienced how effing hard it is to get a group together for ANYTHING given the extremely low populations, you might think differently.

If you play Imperial, cya! One less person to worry about outnumbering the Republics.

It's amazing how many people (most likely imperials) are against Republics actually getting to experience the game.

We're better off without you. Can I have your stuff?

  10. What probably happened is that the animation teams for each class worked separately instead of together, thus ending up with different animations for each class. Thus lightning attacks being instant and rocks having a travel time.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as fixing some code, as redoing this requires redoing the animation in some cases. For some abilities I doubt it would like right if they just fast forwarded the animation.

The could add an animation to make the "faster ability move more slowing, example: a charging arc of lightning for shock, slow down the draw knife animation so it's more in line with the delay on scattergun abilities, add a "root" effect to debilitate. This would be easier and have the same effect. Of course instead of the Republic getting a "buff" the Imperials would get a "nerf". The effect would be the same either way and would take far far less development time.

  11. I still don't see anything about balancing the insane Imperial to Republic ratios on all servers (Republics being the underdogs everywhere).

I still don't see anything about cast time/animation times on several Republic abilities (e.g. shock vs. project, backblast vs. backstab, nutkick vs. debilitate, mortar volley vs. DFA, although I have read this is an issue I haven't really played these classes...I can however vouch for the first three as being a problem for Republics.)

Anyone saying this isn't an issue is obviously a Imperial player and loving the advantages they get over the Republics. If you play Imperial, save yourself time posting because all Republics that play these classes know these are real issues and you'll just be calling yourself out as an Imperial wanting to keep their advantage.

I still feel like this is an Imperial only game.

My gaming rig just went down 2 days ago, RMA's are going to take at least 2-3 weeks. Cancelling my sub, obviously, since I won't be able to play and don't plan on paying for a game I can't play until my rig is running again.

I sincerely hope these issues are at least acknowledged publicly by the time my rig is up again. I can't say I'll resubscribe if at least some effort isn't made to address these issues.

  12. because im not 14, and i find the teen angst on empire to be completely lol and i cannot make it beyond lvl 15 because i am spending so much time loling. SLAVE! ZAP ZAP lightning! EVIL! EVIL !EVIL! its really lol to me. thats why.

Yeah, because someone with the forum name "Darth_Pants" is obviously not 14.

    /endsarcasm

  13. because you Sith need to be irradicated, something me and my republic homies enjoy doing on a nightly basis on my server...

Is that like irradiated? Just asking because I think you meant eradicated.

That misspelling might replace my oldest pet peeve of people that spell ridiculous with an "re". When I see that misspelling I immediately skip anything else the poster says, because if he or she is uneducated enough to misspell a word that is misspelled as often as it's mispronounced, he/she doesn't deserve to have their post read...by anyone...ever.

  14. Not entirely true but for the most part yes!

One difference I know of is Jedi Sage and Sith Inquisitor is with the spells Project and Shock. Empires spell is instant and ours takes the time for the animation to finish to hit. Just one more reason for playing Republic, being the underdog is a lot more fun!

This may have been already mentioned so sorry if it has, I just got in and didn't read the whole thread.

A big one that gets overlooked is the difference between animation/land times of scoundrel scattergun abilities and operative vibroknife abilities. I've played both classes to 30 and the scoundrels draw time for the scatter gun is noticeably slower (at least 0.5 secs, which in PVP is an eternity).

  15. The idiot to player ratio goes up exponetially for every player you add to a group.

Not true. In EQ, if you didn't know your role in a group (and you couldn't level without one unless you were a druid), you got kicked and replaced.

WoW changed the MMO market by making it a "single player game". You could level all the way by yourself.

In EQ, after level 10, if you didn't group up, you didn't advance.

It wouldn't fly today, but when it came out, it was the only real MMO out there and people couldn't threaten to go play something else.

EQ was the only true MMO. They got a lot of things right and built the foundation for all MMO's that came after.

  16. How come Republic is so much more boring?

Story-wise I don't think the Republic stories are any worse than the Imperial stories (with the exception of the Agent story, which, IMO is insanely well done).

Boring isn't the issue when leveling. Balance (number-wise and ability activation to land times), aesthetics, and poor economy (due to small population of Republic players) are the real issues.

Boring might be considered an issue when you get to 50, realize that it's incredibly hard to find people to play the MMO part of the game with due to lack of people playing Republic.

  17. I was kind of...blah...when I saw that Mako was a light side oriented character (albeit one that's a credit hound) for a bounty hunter of all classes.

A BH is stereotyped as a "in it for myself and screw anyone that gets in my way" type of character. Starting off with a light side oriented character was a huge let down.

Obviously this isn't my first character. Trooper's first companion is what you'd expect. Agent's first character is what you'd expect. Same for smuggler (for the most part), Knight, and every class I've played with the possible exception of the Consular.

I feel like I'm being forced to play a light side character to explore the romanace option with her.

Why didn't BW include a way to "corrupt" or "redeem" your companions? Just another let down.

On the plus side, from what I've seen so far, the trooper and the BH and pretty well balanced: no long activation to hit times like you see with the consular and smuggler/scoundrel.

  18. I wouldn't recommend this broken travesty of a game to someone I didn't like, much less my friends.

I play because I'm severely injured and stuck in workers compensation hell with a lot of free time.

If you want people to play, fix your game. Take some time to read some of your customers threads if you can't figure out what's screwed up.

No offense, your devs tried, but failed by spending too much time doing voiceacting and too much time making the Imperials a better faction (in some cases, including aesthetics and slow abilities for the Republics like project and any scattergun ability).

  19. <snip>

Yeah, let's see what song you're singing when you're 50 and are bored off your *** from lack of stuff to do.

Multply that by 10 if you play republic.

If they had forgone the voiceacting BS and concentrated on content and other stuff that makes a game...FUN...I might agree with you.

Yeah, it's an OK game for a few months (if they actually fix crap maybe longer, but I'm not holding my breath), however after that it's going to be on to the next game. It's definately not the WoW killer I and many others hoped it would be.

Unless they fix a lot of the glaring problems (e.g. faction balance, republic graphics, long delay times for abilities like project, backblast, etc) it'll die out in 6 months. Oh they'll make their money back from their game sales and the few months 1million+ subs, but after that the income is going to drop way off and they'll be wondering what they did wrong.

When that happens I hope someone there has the nuts to point out existing threads from the six weeks of release where their customers told them exactly what the problems were.

  20. All said and done, you might get what, +20 or 30 to most of your stats? Not that big of a difference at level 50.

Just skip them till you get 50, then use your extra fast speeder and extra time from lack of anything else to do because there's really not any great end game content.
