  1. I put together a video of mine. It's a GSF themed Tatooine stronghold. Up next, a Bounty Hunter bastion on Nar Shaddaa, and a Republic SIS listening post on Droummund Kaas! No idea what i'm going to do with the Coruscant one yet.
  2. Pylan's Starfighter Lounge is available on The Ebon Hawk server! Fully unlocked, fully decorated, and for the Republic! Actually that's a lie. It's open to both factions. Just check the Tatooine Stronghold listings. It's also available for RPers to use. I've set it up with lots of little areas (GSF classrooms, med bay, etc). It's also got two GTN/mailbox areas so you can RP and not be 'disturbed' by antsy pilots. Keys are available upon request. Make yourself at home!
  3. I agree with the above poster. Augmenting before 55 is a waste. You'll blow past the usefulness of it very quickly as you level, not to mention the cost. As they mentioned, Legacy gear (Bound to Legacy) or even adaptive (orange) gear is what you want to augment when you do get to 55.
  4. Thanks for doing this. Seems like a good measurement for people who like stats to get a sense of where they're at. At least in the ballpark. Hope to see it updated!

  6. Your PvP gear is on Drommund Kaas for level 20 and 40. To see your Warzone comms, open your inventory. Look at the bottom, and click on the currency tab. You'll see all your currencies there.
  7. I have experienced it with all the missiles. It becomes especially noticeable with bombers though, since they don't have a missile break (yet). In addition to the problem you mentioned, I find my missiles are 1 lock tone off occasionally. For example, if it normally takes 3 tones to lock, sometimes it will take 4, and i'll have screwed up my lock by releasing early.
  8. Those weapons have expertise starting in the 30s. Be careful when buying these.
  9. Did you post this to Reddit? Same person/program?
  10. It's the same model as the other PvP gear from that season, except that it has a different color scheme(reskin). If it's orange, you can use it for PvP or PvE.
  11. I don't think it's been necro'd. I've seen this thread before recently...somewhere...
  12. Get rid of the Battlemaster armor. Even green armor would be better. Anything with expertise on it is REALLY BAD for warzones before 55. The new mechanic people are mentioning, bolster, penalizes you for wearing expertise. After that, you should be good.
  13. Here's a site with some info you might find useful as a returning player. It has class specs, crew skill info, as well as info on your companions.
  14. There is a vendor with level 40 gear on Drommund Kaas that you can buy with Warzone comms. You want +willpower as an assassin, +aim is for Troopers and Bounty Hunters. For PvP, you don't need PvP gear until 55. So just use whatever gear you come across as you level. You can use your planetary comms to buy mods off the vendor for your orange(adaptive) gear. You can also convert your Warzone comms to planetary comms if you want to keep buying mods. Here is a Deception Spec for PvP you can try.
  15. The big levels are 20 and 45. When you hit level 20, you have enough points to get your first big spec-specific ability. After that, level 45 is when you unlock your 'ultimate' ability for your class. As long as you don't mind respeccing at 20 and 45, you can pretty much take whatever you want. Personally, I like to put all 20 points in the same tree, and then take the talent that gives your mainstat if it's in another tree. You can respec at 45 too. The first respec is free, and it resets after a week. Even if you reach 45 in that week, the cost is super minimal. After that, you can fill 'em out however you like!
  16. I'm afraid I don't understand either of your points. Voice chat only adds to communication. The chat box doesn't disappear when you're on voice chat. So in voice chat, you are exposed MORE to players. Voice chat does not change game balance. Joining voice chat does not improve the stats on any of my ships, or give my side of any given map any benefits. Do you advocate terminating voice chat in all games? Why is GSF any different than World of Warcraft? EVE Online? Typing in chat is extremely risky in GSF, and therefore not ideal. You stop contributing to the game while typing, and make yourself vulnerable. When you finish, then you have to catch back up with your team. Not only have you stopped contributing, but you are behind the tide of battle as well. All of this assumes players instantly read your chat. What if they are in a turning battle, or avoiding a missile lock? Should they stop and risk death to read your message? If they don't see your message right away, they don't know if it's even relevant anymore. Is that bomber coming to B still? Did you kill it? Did more bombers come to b? How many teammates responded to B already? How do people know if you still need help at B? Is timestamp mandatory in your opinion? How else will people know if your message is still current? If timestamp isn't necessary, should all people go ahead and add the current time to their messages? Which timezone will be the standard timezone for use in GSF? You are assuming everyone plays like you, or should play like you. Voice chat aside, I don't use a keyboard for GSF. So to type a message, i'd have to take my hands completely off my flight controls to type on my keyboard. Does that break game balance since you now have an advantage? If someone offers to give everyone $100, are you going to insist on curbside delivery to your home? Should they bring it to your door too? Or are you just going to sit at home and insist everyone else stays home as well because you don't want to have to go to the bank to pick up your money? Forcing people to do things your way because you don't like the other way is not the answer. Voice chat is only an advantage because you refuse to use it. Final thought: Voice chat is instant communication. If there was a tornado headed for your house, would you want someone to type it in chat? Or tell you in voice chat? If there are a group of bombers headed for your satellite, you think it's better for someone to type to you? Or tell you voice chat? I'm also having trouble understanding what you're saying. I'm assuming you mean voice chat is the problem, so: If voice chat isn't pushed on everyone, the people you would least want using voice chat will be abusing it. Voice chat isn't pushed on everyone now, so the people on voice chat now are the ones abusing it?
  17. I still have a 55 trooper there gathering dust. Really good competition, just super slow queues.
  18. I play strike fighters (Pike/Clarion) almost exclusively. I rarely ever run into cooldown problems. I run a proton/thermite 'Gunkat' build on my Comet Breaker, and do occasionally have to wait if I'm steadily firing, but I don't consider it a problem more than a poor build choice. I could see maybe slower missiles having too many detractors in general. Damage would be mitigated by reload/lock times. Distance would be compensated by reticle size, but moving too slowly as well? This essentially gives enemies a better chance to avoid. Am I missing any other balancing factors? I'm sure quantity would make a difference, but that can be potentially unlimited with certain other ships available. I'm not sure how that would balance anything but damage, but if you die before using them all, it has no effect on anything.
  19. Good for you for wanting to help your community first off. It can be hard, but, there are some things you can do. 1. Get people to /cjoin GSF channel. That puts like minded players in the same place to ask questions, form groups, and build comraderie. 2. Know where the resources are. If someone wants a build in particular, there are forum threads, website guides, and YouTube videos. Using a 'tested' build is a good foundation. As a player grows in experience, they can make informed decisions. 3. Provide voice chat. Hate it or not, it will improve your performance more than any single upgrade. 4. Play wingman. A Clarion/Imperium is perfect for this. Heal and/or peel for a new/struggling player. Forego your own score, and support them until they can get a better handle on things. 5. Network with pilots you consider good. Send them a whisper, say hello in chat at game start. I've met probably 2-3 people that I wouldn't miss playing with again. The far, far larger majority of players -like- getting questions -and- helping. Learn what ships they play, so you know where to direct people with ship-specific questions. Just a few ideas off the top of my head. Hopefully others can provide more too. What server are you on, out of curiosity?
  20. This is to discourage bots queuing. They want to make it optimal for a real person to manually farm credits to slow down credit farmers. GSF rewards all players of the same level equal credits as I recall. So low/no performance gets as much as top gun. Rewards are low because it's F2P content. They want to lock efficient credit farming behind paywalls. Section X, Czerka, and Oricon all require a purchase for example.

  22. My guess is diameter because the sensor components state radius/diameter. edit: I said something different at first, hit submit, and then realized it was wildly inaccurate. Drinking coffee now, sorry.
  23. Understood, I just assumed a full 15 minute timer.

  25. They never never stated anything like that. They have just skipped over the one ship role. In fact, their final sentence reads: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=7386025#edit7386025
