  1. It's not much of a solution. After the first two worlds you will be going through the same worlds. Again. Even the areas on the worlds are very similar. Some of the Imp bases are literally the same Republic ones expect the npcs/vendors are different faction. Corellia is the epitome of empty unused zones.
  2. How many people does it take to be in a world zone before another "instance" is created? Seems rather low to me though the worlds are so depopulated it's hard to test anymore. As for other MMOs there is that one other MMO that was designed to handle at least 40 players in a raid. 80 players on opposing sides in Alterac Valley. A game released in late 2004.
  3. Can the engine handle more than 25+ in combat? Apparently not since Ilum lag is a near-universal complaint. Even on systems with 580 gtx/8GB memory/i7-2600k. The heavy amount of instancing in this game is a thinly-veiled disguise for the lousy engine IMO. I guess it's not a problem anymore since most of the worlds are depopulated.
  4. Because they ran out of money for more VO. Cost for Jawa VO: $$$$$ Actual gameplay result: squeak squeak jabber jabber <spacebar>
  5. The OP specifically referred to regular non-class/FP quests. In short, trash mobs.
  6. All the people gushing over this game are either really really slow levelers or just getting started. I've seen the end of three of the class storylines. I've played four other classes to the low-mid 30's. I think I have a good idea of what the game offers. This game will NEVER approach the success of WoW. So if that is the bar for "success" then swtor is a dismal failure. I don't see the game folding either. It's just going to be another MMO among all the other MMOs.
  7. The space portion of this game is so poorly done it hurts. Your spaceship is just another loading screen of another loading screen of all the docks/orbital stations/spaceports. Is the engine/server so weak it has to instance every aspect of this game?
  8. Everyone that can post to these forums paid $60 for the game. If Bioware wants to refund my $60 I'll be happy to give up my forum posting privileges.
  9. Well the server merges would at least help the people who are still interested in the game. But yes it would not fix the problems that caused all the other players to stop playing in the first place. But hey the server population is NOT DROPPING. Even though I logged in 9EST on my East Coast PvE server just to see the server numbers (100 at fleet on both imps and reps, was 170+ when I first started back in early Jan) I am obviously wrong. I mean there could have been a special holiday yesterday as a reason. Or maybe everyone was hiding in one zone and therefore my numbers were all wrong. Yeah that's it.
  10. You see OP? Your just not playing swtor the right way. Ignore the fleet numbers and put on the rose-colored glasses.
  11. EQ1-2+ years. First MMO for me. Great community. Had to quit for RL reasons. WoW- 3+ years. Stopped after BC was released. Went in expecting to play casually. Ended up with one of the two top Alliance guilds on a server and we competed heavily for server firsts in raid progression. Quit from raid burnout and RL reasons. SWTOR- 2 months. Trivially easy content. Minimal community. No compelling hook like the first two MMOs. It is not necessarily a list of features that makes a great MMO. Sometimes it's just sitting down and getting sucked in.
  12. Warzones are a totally different animal from everywhere else. The game engine facepalms when there are more than 25-30 people in combat in the same location. Getting a beefier vid card doesn't fix that underlying problem.
  13. Can Bioware make improvements to the game? Sure. Can Bioware make MAJOR overhauls like world/zone design? Fix their game engine to support 25+ people in combat without it turning into a lagfest? I don't think so.
  14. These guys are actually harsher than I am. They listed most of my major complaints. I didn't think the class story was that bad, though it definitely is too "templated". I have low hopes of swtor being significantly improved. Some of the issues go directly to the game design/engine (uninspired and repetitive world/zone design, ridiculously poor ability to handle large number of people in combat). If this is the best Bioware/EA could do after 6-7 years of development the game engine/server is not going to suddenly improve. It is what it is.
  15. There is something bizarre going on with the character select screen. My GPU usage jumps to 100% and my cpu temp hits 70C just from sitting on that one screen. Seems to be some poor programming going on. In game I really don't notice any issues. I have a Gigabyte 570 with a non-reference cooler design in a Corsair 500R.
  16. Yeah except there is a significant drop in the number of people on my server on both the Imps and Rep sides. It's not just because Bioware magically "increased" the server cap.
  17. Already a bunch of threads like this. I was not bored of vanilla WoW in 2 months after launch. I am bored of swtor. I'm not sure if the WoW forums 2 months post launch were filled with posts from people unhappy with the game. I was too busy having fun to read the forums. And before one of you fanbois says "go play WoW" I stopped playing years ago. I'm just going to play the stack of single player games I have yet to go through until ME3 is released.
  18. I have him geared in almost all blue with implants/earpiece. Pretty easy since str heavy armor gear is plentiful on the AH unlike aim (or med cunning armor). I'm 26 and he's just alot clunkier to use then Corso despite wanting to like him better. With Corso I can tranq a mob then initiate combat with Corso harpooning the mob I target away from the cced one. The Wookie breaks my CC half the time because he rushes up to the mobs and unleashes one of his many AE abilities.
  19. Empty worlds two months after launch = poor world, leveling, crafting, and zone design. The Barrens were not a desolate wasteland two months after vanilla WoW launched.
  20. The first playthrough was fine after launch. Lots of people in each zone and at fleet. Findings groups was not difficult. Second playthrough player population is noticeably less. Not as enjoyable and I begin to notice how much repetition there is on world progression and layout, even between factions. Now leveling is an utter bore. Endgame is bleh. If the hype was that this would be a MMO that sucks you in and keeps you entertained for months, then no it failed. It's not an utter failure since people were entertained for a month before the griping really set in. Just disappointed Bioware could not come up with something better. It would take a serious overhaul of the game to fix the issues currently plaguing it. Doubtful if Bioware/EA is capable of it considering how long this game has been in development and this is the best they could do.
  21. I have yet to run across anyone foolish enough to roll need on gear that was not obviously for their main toon through several playthroughs. I can see how the "others", even a small minority, can give tools like LFD a bad name. They should add a LFD option "loot xxxxx" for those folks so they can group with themselves when it's introduced.
  22. I didn't find the story compelling as an evil consular. The evil choices made you seem like a brute and the responses from the Jedi council were a stretch. "Another master dead again!?! Oh well" Could have used alot more subtlety and nuance for the evil part.
