  1. It's .02% less damage once you count counselor buff to main stat and the 9% from talents, if memory serves, and you lose crit. There's pretty much no situation where power augments are better than skill augments.
  2. Firstly: This should be in the jedi knight forums. Secondly: Spoilers much?
  3. So. . . conversation over, then? Also you want this section of the forum.
  4. Clearly the Smurfs aren't Chiss. For one thing, they don't have the solid red eyes, nor are their features defined as well. They're clearly rogue sithspawn, and Gargamel is the master of Sith Alchemy who created them, only to have the creatures turn on him when they realized his plans for them.
  5. Wouldn't just an 'officer' chat channel accomplish that even more easily? No need to travel to the ship to talk, just switch to the channel and start typing wherever you are. Not that it isn't a cool idea. Especially for RP servers or whatever, just yeah. Also: I'd like to see me raiding them. GvG PvP as boarding the enemy's guild ship.
  6. Like the guy above you said--There's two entrances. Both bring you to the same location. It switches positions depending on which you are close to on the map. One is in the north east (more east east, really) and one is near an Imp base. Neither location is wrong.
  7. Just gonna stop you here. Your father is terrible. In PvE you use Flyby/Orbital as an opener in solo/small group PvE. It's too long a cast to use in emergencies like that, the pushback makes it even longer, and sometimes you won't even get it off, plus there's the one second wait before damage starts after you cast it. Unless you lead with dirty kick, and even then you're better off pulse detonating, leg shotting, and blowing them away. Open with Flyby/Orbital followed by thermals and/or sweeping blasters in those situations, however, and the entire spawn is dead before it knows what's going on. You should be using it to open on groups every time it's off cool down (every other, or every third fight). Meanwhile in PvP it's fantastic for node protection, and in Raids/FPs it's one of the best abilities for clearing large trash pulls or boss adds. Again: You're using it all the time. And on Burst Volley you should be using that pretty much constantly in PvE as well, as speed shots is fantastic DPS, and immediately finishes cooldown on and activates Trick Shot, while Burst Volley is also increasing energy regeneration and alacrity. You should be using it basically every time you can. And in PvP I shouldn't have to explain the usefulness of a speed shot -> trick shot -> hasted speed shot -> trick shot. So long as you're in a situation where someone doesn't see you/can't LoS within 5 seconds, you basically win. Even just the second half of that (hasted speed shot -> trick shot) is incredibly useful. It's not niche at all. Basically all of your points are like this. You don't actually understand anything about how the class operates (and apparently neither does your father), and yet. . . so many words.
  8. You already have an OP. Go GS. As for Cover, you're thinking of it entirely wrong. Cover gives huge defensive bonuses, especially when behind natural cover. Not only do you need to be there, you WANT to be there. 100% ranged defense behind natural cover except when you peek out to pull off a shot/against tech/force damage. And kiting isn't really necessary, especially later on when you get all your controls. Flashbang, dirty kick, pulse detonator, etc. No mobs should be next to you and capable of moving long enough to do damage.
  9. OP: I don't like that my robes having hoods. Also something about how this makes me less likely to buy CC. Multiple Posters: Here's a bunch of robes without hoods. OP: I like my current armor.
  10. "How about I show you how I juggle a 'lightsaber' naked, Guss."
  11. So. . . no one is gonna call Lumpy out on the 'FPS' thing? Really? 'Cause acronyms, much like words, have meanings, guys, and this game is not first person, and it's not a shooter. The proper hyperbolic statement to make would be that it would remove the 'mmo' from the title. As even if single player, it'd still be an RPG. That said: Some Heroic 4s are straight up harder than flashpoints, like Mandalorian Rage on Nar Shadaa or that. . . one in Tatooine which I can't remember the name of. But point is, FPs usually have trash pulls with one or two elites, two or three strongs, and/or some normals/weaks. Meanwhile these Heroic 4s have groups of 3 or 4 elites and just as many strongs with no normals at all. I'd really like to see a video of someone soloing these things without being 7+ levels above them. I don't have trouble finding groups for them, and have done all of them on my latest character up through the start of Tatooine so far, but, in my opinion, when a Heroic 4 is harder (if shorter) than a flashpoint, there's a bit of an issue. Mostly on Nar Shadaa. Most of Tat is fine, and most planets after, from what I remember, are fine, and all the ones before, but god, Nar Shadaa. Heroic 2: Not a single normal mob in the area, groups with 2 elites and 2 strongs not rare. No one but Troopers have a healing companion yet. Just, ridiculous.
  12. Alts would still have achievements. It's legacy wide. Unless by 'alt' you mean 'entire alternate account'.
  13. I don't know. Looking at some of these posts that compare studying up on how to play a video game as the equivalent of going to school to earn a masters, or greater, degree (lawl CEO), I think maybe for these people it IS Rocket Science.
  14. Graphical MUDs aren't MMOs! (Yes they are). Anyway, yeah, I'm just having a laugh at 'maybe it's just the KIDS who ain't played NUFFIN' but these NEW FANGLED MUMMORPUGERS' thing, when I'm pretty clearly not seeing his issue either, all things considered.
  15. You might, however the word was still used incorrectly in its first instance. Learnt is used as a past participle. Much as Show - Showed - Shown. For instance, the sentence should have been constructed as "I'm using the same tactics I learned between levels 15-30" or "I'm using the same tactics I had learnt between levels 15-30". That said, it's pretty much a dick move to correct someone's grammar over such a minor issue, particularly when you don't even actually know what you're talking about. But, your ignorance notwithstanding, the purpose of language, and grammar, is still to communicate ideas clearly, and GuruVII did just that. As such, any corrections are unnecessary. Grammar Nazi OUT.
  16. The one with dirty kick is my main. . . .I don't know what I'll do once I get around to rolling a scoundrel to go with my GS.
  17. Been on MMOs since 1996. Pre-sure I'm more 'OG' than most ya'll.
  18. This. OP, read that. The old standard simply does not apply anymore because the reasons it EVER applied no longer exist in modern MMOs. It's going to be like that in every new MMO you go to. Get used to it. Also: Respawn times are so ridiculously fast and mob density so huge, that it's very very rare that I don't get full credit for a bonus quest without even going out of my way to kill things on the way to the objective (only during peak hours when someone has already cleared the trash directly in the way, and during peak hours respawn times are faster). That said, hopping in on someone else's untagged spawns is still kinda rude, but I very very rarely see it happen. Generally, the only time I do is when I and someone else start casting an AoE at or leaping into the same group at the same time. A lot of the time I see people hopping in to finish an already tagged strong or greater when my (or whomever is fighting it's) hp is around half or so, but that's entirely harmless and just makes life easier for the person fighting it, so I'm not sure why anyone would complain.
  19. Just ask if it's a space bar run or if they want to watch the story. It's what I do. Even if I'd prefer spacebar runs, because it's so much less annoying to watch it than spacebar and stare at 'waiting for group members' until it finishes.
  20. This might have something to do with how everyone, for some reason, assume DPS are terrible and have no roll to fulfill other than pew pewing the boss while tanks and healers are A+ important good. This leads to DPS thinking the same thing and braindeading things, rather than realizing they have their own important jobs and rolls they must do in order to ensure group survivability. A bad DPS is LESS bad than a bad tank or healer, but it can still wipe a group in these situations, but as long as people continue giving DPS no respect in general, it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  21. I just miss the. . . incredibly classy rotation of 'kick to the balls, shoot you in the head'. It wasn't useful, persay, but it was fun/funny. Like sab charge -> dirty kick, or low hp mob = stand up, run over to him, blaster whip. Except the headshot version was clearly the best for pure amusement.
  22. Well, from a story point of view, you've actually listed why the Smuggler would win. S/He's the perky underdog against the better trained and better prepared Agent of the Evil Empire. I'd put in my position on the others, but it should really be clear from that. Now if you're talking in universe capabilities taken to their logical (instead of dramatic) outcome. . . I'd call Agent vs. Smuggler a draw. The Agent has the better training and better gear, but that training also leads to a level of boxed in thinking, as any training does. The Smuggler thinks outside the box and has experience with confounding and escaping just the kind of person the agent is. That said, the agent DOES still have the better gear, so it could really go either way. Warrior vs Knight, gonna give to the Warrior. The dark side is power. The Jedi know it. The Sith know it. The Jedi only win against Sith when the Jedi is particularly good, gain some kind of tactical advantage, or they give in to their emotions (even if they are 'light' emotions), and draw on passion. Your every day Warrior just has a lot more juice going on than your everyday Jedi. Trooper vs BH, gonna go with the BH. Trooper has a much more specific load out, and has less room to customize and upgrade his gear. The BH is able to use after market modifications, illegal weaponry, etc. etc. The Trooper's gear might be of a higher quality on average, but the BH's gear can do things the Trooper's just, legally, can not. The BH is also less likely to be scrupulous in their methods of combat. The Trooper's training is also going to focus on large scale group engagements, not the small one on one battles the BH is likely to be involved in (even against the trooper), and is likely to have less a focus on urban warfare. Consular vs Inquisitor: Same as Warrior Vs Knight, really, except even more so, because now the Inquisitor isn't just getting more force juice from the dark side, they're also allowed to research into darker methods of gaining more power like Sith Alchemy and what not. The Consular's area of knowledge is, such, going to end up being both narrower, and shallower. Though the Jedi do share their knowledge a LITTLE more freely (but not much) than the Sith, so a young Consular vs young Inquisitor would be closer.
  23. But I've been unable to resist the interrupts on like. . . 5 play throughs of ME2. I'll NEVER see what that Krogan says if I don't shoot the gas tank under him. Never. First few times you're dealing with an alien, you decide this alien is kind of a jerk. Your character is now a racist. You didn't want to be a racist. You just thought those aliens were jerks. Your character is now railroaded into racism for the rest of his story (or at least until they select positives at aliens enough to erase the 'racist' status). Alternatively: Your first few quests with an option to ask for money are things your character genuinely agrees with/is willing to hit for free. You're now more 'altruistic' even though in every other quest you're picking greedy options because, well, that's what your character REALLY is. Basically it opens the door for a character's personality to be decided differently than what the player had intended.
